Or the Honda has issues?? MM also crashed from the front tucking and not for the first time this weekend!
If MM has issues and Pedrosa has commented, why would Cal be unaffected?
Cal has had some success, and on the Yam had a good season so its reasonable to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Pedal. But serious – less uphill this year please?

Short loop and the enduro isnt in the park.

Landing on dirt with wheels flat on a slight slope is slightly different to nose diving flat concrete.

Shit, pointless event. I watched the headcam that was out the other day and thought wtf… Asking for trouble

I only enjoy riding one type of stuff so my decent bike is the only one i need to be decent! My road bike etc is shite because I dont like riding road, xc etc etc.

Fancy a bmx or jump bike again though…

Crashing is part of the sport. I don’t agree with slow down as other riders are probably far faster…

If you’re unsure of something – get off and have a look first. Being able to read the trail properly is key.

GCN-mtb are doing good stuff for tips…

Technically I know I can ride anything Enduro throws at me having raced DH. The only hard part is pushing your limits

But nerves on the start line is normal as you want to do well and not get hurt… Every racer gets it.

But if you’re getting nervous about being able to ride sections, i suggest you ride similar stuff that pushes you so you can increase your experience. There really shouldn’t be anything that you can’t ride on a stage… Afterall, if someone else can, so can you…

    What do you usually ride?

BPW with no uplift is fine if you just do top halves and the odd full. Got to earn that burger anyway! Climbs not inspiring but going down is the interesting bit. But you would be doing it over and over,

tbh, Afan is more xc orientated and sounds like you lean more towards XC.

    what about cwm carn?

Quite happy in a full face. Although it was a short loop.

Know what you mean about taping out drops and jumps, i could understand if it was blind racing but it’s not! Premier enduro series in the uk… but getting wheels off the ground is too risky? More huck lines please

Happily pay it for things like Peaky Blinders and Wolf Hall. Not a lot really is it

These events are advertised and it cant be hard to target. We arent a million miles from anywhere either. Just put it in a van or car, not much effort for peace of mind… Sad to see so many peoples bikes nicked and hope they get replacements asap.

Race was ok, loved the dirt on friday, turned greasey and gloopy on saturday so not so good. Happy with the result considering i spent most of the time going over the bars.

    11 mile loop though…?

My spesh enduro 650b is amazing when it works. Dont really get the stumpy evo’s geometry, doesnt seem very ‘evo’ if you ask me and felt like it after the enduro too…

No idea how you choose between a camber and an enduro as the uses will be different, depends where you ride and what you like to do, but i’ll always rather be over biked than underbiked.

Mine died, a negative seal flipped meaning that air escaped into the negative champer and wouldnt pump up.
Specialized replaced it immeadiatley with a Monarch as they can’t fix them and its obviously a known issue.

Shame as the shock worked really nice. But with 90 parts or whatever it was never lasting.

I still begrudge Stoner retiring so early really. would have been great to see hims till on it as he was spectacular. He isn’t comfortable with media and could be a dick but actions speak louder than words. A Marc and Stoner team would be awesome.

anyway, Rossi is 36. Still winning, still adapting to overcome new talents when others careers have long since faded. He is one of the greatest personalities in sport and isn’t a dick despite being massively successful. His love and enthusiasm for riding bikes after all these years is incredible and a real inspiration to me.

a lot of sports people could learn a lot.

    He is an idol.

A lot of generalisation is always bandied about when talking about different groups.

Some drive like dicks, some ride like dicks.

I drive through west Chandon, shere etc to get to peaslake. I do see where OP is coming from. I’ve had some appalling behaviour directed at me.

Just hope. NOne of this affects mtb riding In the area

Been there for motorsport watching. Nice city. Probably about 30 mins from anywhere hilly

That bike does look quite small.

Shorter stem will help you move your weight back and eliminate some of your issues.

But I’m going to say focus on how you ride. Look at good riders and their body positions. You will notice that arms and legs are also suspension and levers. I cant honestly see why you cant over come some twitchiness on that with improved technique

Will our new fantastic (read waste of spacE) personal insurers go after UKGE’s public insurance to recompensate themselves?

Have no idea how this is actually going to work when it comes to a claim. Just seems they made a choice that perhaps wasn’t as well thought out as they thought and feel they have no options to go back on it.

Decent brakes that dont just lock up.

Need to keep rolling and modulate your braking.

Look at DH bike design as what you want. Then find what elements of that you can transfer while keeping all around usability.

things like tyres with a good braking edge, short stem, wide bars, good brakes, well set up suspension, low saddle. Just look at the evolution of ‘enduro’ bikes.

The main thing is confidence so experience and learning lines etc, keeping your body in the right position. i.e not too far back or forwards.

Nomads are great bikes. Need to be pushed hard and then it becomes apparent just what is possible. I’m sure I’ll get flamed for it but bikes for me have been a lot better since upgrading to multiple pivots.

    And a five? He’s talking about 6 inch bikes…

Youre talking about Jared Graves 3rd at Pietermaritzburg in 2013. Not the most steepest track. I doubt he would have faired so well at the following years track at Hajfell. Horses for Courses.

My Spec Enduro is faster than my dh rig ever was. But if it is proper DH terrain I’d expect a modern DH bike to be faster

Depends if the bike manufacturer has a market in Germany (where the mag is from?)

I was looking at the GT. But that suspension linkage and tyre clearance is going to create a few headaches in this country i.e. mud!

If you are spending a lot of money on a bike, you wouldn’t buy something with an older standard that would make its resale value even less.

Its worth what people will pay. Thank the MTB industry for that

    joefm

I wouldn’t buy a bike if it didnt have a bottle cage mount. Infact that was pretty much top of the list when it came to narrowing down my enduro rig buying.

I had an argument with a bike shop owner about a bike not having a mount as he thought everyone uses packs so what was I on about.

But theyre too heavy and you end up carrying all sorts of rubbish.

I pretty much only take a multi tool, some money and a bottle. Sometimes take a tube and gas taped on but thats only for races. Especially since going tubeless.

Anybody mentioning DH Racers is forgetting Sam Hill.

Sure some have switched over but thats probably the nature of some of these courses.

At the end of the day ride what your comfortable in.

Anything with some proper gradient – flats.

I really wanted to race more this year but, while I was fairly ok with FF as sometimes i felt uncomfortable racing in an open face on parts of stages that were as tech as any DH stuff ive ever ridden, the insurance requirement is an extra cost for something that I dont understand the point of. And they’re doing pretty bad at communicating those reasons unsurprisingly!

Shame we can’t have it as good as the Euro’s.

    joefm

Jokers. So everyone who breaks their leg or whatever at ukge will get a payout from this pa insurance and the underwriters of said policy will seek to cover their costs from the events insurance resulting in more claims and increased costs.

    Sound idea ^

But if you just want things to think about:

Practice. Find one track with a mix of stuff that you can repeatedly ride and learn where youre going so you can just concentrate on yourself more as you get more used to the track.

Learn your lines. Look where you want to go. Get used to braking and controlling speed while putting the bike where you want
