Those bikes have linkages so not quite in the same vein.

Judges favourite no doubt. Not sure how that run scored so high

    Bikes are for riding.

If you got the money to stick it on a wall then great.

As something to ride – it will be **** shit and will ruin your ride.

Hope they keep two day practice then. Just not enough time on saturday with seeding to do as well.

Go ride BKB if you want to roll down without thinking?

No one is sticking unclearable gaps in any older trail…

Fly tipper hasn’t been anything other than a jump trail and would be really dull without i.e. one unnoticeable corner? So how is it ruining anything for anyone as i suggest you wouldn’t ride it otherwise.

Fun police are out in full.

Most of the jumps are well sighted and you’re not going to get your self into trouble as the lines start with a good sized gap. If you’re riding that blind and incompetently then you would crash elsewhere.

Erosion – if it is is SSSI where you are referring to on footpaths then fair enough, but I dont think fly tipper, the northern monkey off line jumps, millstone hips (evian) are footpaths or SSSI.

I’ve just ridden the road bike and spent the entire time wishing I had got up earlier and got out on the MTB.

Apart from the satisfaction of a long ride it is a **** boring way to get fitness. Where’s the feeling of speed and excitement? I never get in from a road ride and wish i was still riding unlike with the MTB where i wish I still was.

**** mundane way to spend an afternoon.

What’s the hate with the nomad though? Same old same old with mojo.

I don’t own one but having ridden one its plenty fast and more than enough for most people and no noticeable difference to mine which is pretty well regarded.

Porter’s views can be interesting but need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I’m 6’1″ and ride the longest one. It makes my previous bike a new style xl nomad look tiny and the nomad rides terribly if you were to ride it back to back. Most over hyped bike I’ve had if you ask me ( the nomad) I’m in north wales if anybody wants a pedal on it!

    Is that you chris porter?

Dont think I’d want to carry on to the end of a stage with a carbon rim if I got a puncture so probably not.

    Probably not a lot.

Switching from my 2012 £2k FS to my carbon £4.5k machine the difference, noticeably in speed is massive.

But you should only think about same years bikes.

BPW seems to have it right.

Alp blacks are far harder so internationally there needs to be similarities.

I don’t think the failure of the UKGE series has anything to do with difficulty of tracks though. Numbers were fine over the past few years and the level of difficulty hasn’t really changed. As MTB’ers we push ourselves or we would all still be riding fire roads… I dont think it’s an argument.

It is simply due to how much it costs for a one off event… £90 including insurance and full face if you havent got one. Plus they have been massive treks to get to this year.

Exactly. National series should be challenging. We all have the bikes and most of us ride difficult stuff as often as we can.

the courses being challenging had nothing to do with numbers being down at UKGE. Numbers werent an issue last year or the year before and courses were same sort of level (they weren’t that hard – many of us are ex DH’ers anyway and more than capable).

The problem is the people doing single events being priced out of it when there are many other series for far less money – even if they are only half a day (ukge seems fair value tbh but it is still more).

It got a lot of negativity about it and the way paying customers are treated is a bit of a joke.

But it is appreciated tht taking on such an event isn’t easy and ukge should be thanked.

I have a large and I’m the same height as you. The medium was tiny. It was smaller than my medium pitch that it replaced! I do run a 50mm stem though

Sorry for your loss and to everyone else.

I’m meant to be doing the same at the moment. Shit isn’t it? Minds a bit blank tbh

Only reason I wouldn’t is punctures. Your shortcut wont be such a short cut if you have to change a tube everytime

    joefm

why would you want a rotor with so little braking surface area? there’s having lightweight things then there’s just negatively affecting performance for a few grams.

RIP to him. Sad day for his family and those involved.

Not the time for speculation but hopefully there’ll be some form of analysis to identify if there’s a requirement for any changes to either trail design or rider behaviour? I’m thinking of something similar to what happens in the climbing world (informally in this country more formally in the US) to work out whether it was a single “unlucky” freak incident or something that we can all learn from.

These occurrences seem very rare infact i’ve not heard of one, so lets not get too excited.

Don’t think of SPD’s as something that will make you a better rider.

    Maybe for efficiency.

This is the effect of the cuts to local authority budgets. A choice between this and other more important services you can see why this is going…

That’s not to say they would pull out if it wasn’t loss making. If it was self supporting then fair enough but Glyncorrwyg probably put pay to that for most mtb’s.

Should have bought more cake instead of signing petitions late in the day.

Just to say thanks to Scott for sorting this out so late.

It’s happened to mine. Its happened to the majority i see at the races…

I even heard the demo fleet have monarch’s. They’re also replacing them no questions asked.

    Hardly rumour is it.

It’s probably a faulty batch of shocks. So why take risk…? Shame as it worked real nice

Plenty of residential parking around Highcliffe like petersfield rd etc. Or if you would rather pay there are places in town like tower street and you can pay over the phone to renew it

Do not buy a CCDB. Pretty much every one i see, including mine has been swapped for a monarch by spesh.

Unless you’re northern the drives are long this year. Add 5 x £70 entry fees across the series and extra leave needed an extra event on its own is something people dont seem that fussed on? Essentially £800 – £1000 to race the series for me…

Perhaps if it was part of the series they would have more entries. And it’s peak holiday time…
