All BB’s Seem to last a year no matter what standard so I don’t mind press fit or threaded. In fact press fit cost £30 to replace and is easy as to do by yourself. Compared to the £100 hope bb that needed facing and lasted the same amount of time.

    Food for thought…
If it is Chron’s then it’s not the end of the world. Symptoms and severity of the condition vary between people but most live a normal life.

I have it. diagnosed post emergency op for a ruptured small bowel and resection. Doesn’t really affect me too much, I don’t really get flare ups, cramps etc and am generally better than before the op (was investigated some years before the emergency op as I was having some stomach cramps etc but nothing found).

I take some meds to supress my immune system a bit so hopefully it will never be like before. But your daughters case may be different. I may have been lucky (unlucky) in that they cut the affected section of the bowel away.

Interestingly seems to be just white people in the developed world that get it. But there’s no definitive cause so it does make me wonder if some cases are triggered by certain food groups/environmental conditions.

roller coasters, bungee jumping in a controlled way isn’t dangerous and doesn’t offer the same adrenaline, which is the point.

Before thinking body armour is the be all and end all to not getting hurt. It’s unlikely to stop you breaking limbs, collarbones etc etc.

Good at preventing lacerations. Additional pain if you break something.

If you can’t accept the risks then you don’t ride there/anywhere. You even have to sign a disclaimer (not sure how well that will hold up).

It’s the same as any other place we ride bikes, there’s no guarantee that you will be found if injured, so why do BPW need to take on this additional responsibility other than that you pay a small amount to ride there?

You have to accept responsibility, take precautions and minimise the risks as much as you feel able to. You weren’t riding alone either so you had already minimised that risk.

BPW did the last rider sweep when they opened. I guess the actual practicality proved too difficult and opened a potential can of worms wrt liability.

Clearly this crash has scared you so hope you feel better soon and get back on the bike.

French national is at lindarets and has never had a WC.

Les Gets is in the woods on private land on Mont Chery so not really possible to ride wholly.

Pila was harder than Champery for me due to rocks and difficult lines.

I don’t think I have ever had a bb last more than 12 months be it from hope, sram or whoever. I’d just spend £30 on a sram item and replace it in another year. Easy enough to DIY.

Since when did taking the rear wheel off become hard work?
And faffing about with a front seat probably takes as long

If it’s on highway you need to apply to HCC for a licence. They can either issue a licence for a contractor or can do the work for you for a higher fee. It’s about £900.

Keep a note book. Cut out food groups then see how you feel. Add them in and see what happens. There’s no test but a GP should be able to refer you to a nutritionist.

Staff have changed and MBUK is a lot better. Still a bit too orientated at new riders which is why I tend to read STW if I read anything. Mainly for the pics anyway.

Will it stop people drinking them or just make them poorer? Tax on the poor?

If you want to cut it by taxation then the tax has to be seriously high.

With the news about aspartane (sp) and diet drinks being as bad and if not worse then should these be taxed too?

I’ve sacked off my 6 mile commute for a moto.

Don’t need the exercise (never rode hard anyway as it meant getting too hot and trouble cooling down) and the route was boring and I pretty much hate riding on the road at the best of times. Then you have all the shower faff (two hills made it impossible to not shower).

So I ride in one day a week and extend the route home for training.

Best to mix it up but 5 days a week of cycling was annoying and riding as my hobby is far more important anyway.

Horses for courses isn’t it. Can imagine 29 would be fast at leogang but other steeper and tighter tracks will suit smaller wheels.

If you’re looking at the Radon you may as well look at the Spec Enduro linked above. Don’t go thinking its a slouch. It’s lighter than most of the bikes listed here.

I want to know where these generic non career specific £60k jobs are.

If you have that sort of wage you usually have a career and will get back into it.

    As above.

You won’t slip a pedal with them. If you do you’re probably taking a big hit and about to fly over the bars or something anyway. I wouldn’t worry about pads.

As for touring pedals being ok? go back to road.

insulating it is relatively cheap. Lots of different views on how to do it and usually all you find is how others have done it. Limited evidence of what works best. At the end of the day all youre doing is stopping condensation.

Dodo matts do some 2 in 1 sound deadening/insulation solutions.
General idea seems to use some sound deadening to reduce resonance of panels so you don’t need to cover the van inside fully. Perhaps one piece on every panel. Rest of the insulation will reduce sound passing through. Most of the sound will emanate from wheel arches so pay attention to them.

Then some closed cell foam, some plastic loft insulation or wadding material to trap air. Add some silver stuff and then refit ply.

Yeah Farley Mount Road up to the car park is a bit of a bastard but I’d also head east. Plenty of roads that are quiet enough.

Wheeley Down to get to Warnford is quite a nice roll down too. I’d get to that area via Colden Common (Hensting Lane), Oswlebury (via another punchy climb), Baybridge, Salters Lane via Milburys. Then I usually head up Winchester Hill to East Meon, Langrish, Steep and work my way home.

What had audi got left to prove? Porsche had just beaten them again and the fact they had built their 2017 car after heavily updating their car for the 2016 season which was basically a single seater with more body work says to me the plug was pulled unexpectedly…

In response to earlier posts. Why would Audi enter though?!!?
They’ve just had to ditch WEC (VW ditched WRC) having built a 2017 car due to VAG scandal…

Anyway. As for needing more power, the speed isn’t the issue. unless they make them undriveable.

A couple have made the most important point. Geometry is more important that travel. 160mm vs 140mm? Its only 20mm and weight should be about the same. But the biggest difference is that 160mm bikes have more aggressive geometry.

I think you’re right to not settle for a bike for local riding just because you live where you are. Have the right bike for what you enjoy riding. Climbing is not really going to be significantly better or worse on either once you run some chunkier tyres and lower psi’s.

Too much emphasis on having a bike that will increase fun for everything. But reality is if the trail is shit it will be boring on anything.

Go with your heart and not what the numbers say.

Take a more practical car? I do these days. Once I’m on the campsite the car doesn’t move. Traffic can be a right pain and forget friday.
