Id never buy a bike without a bottle cage mount (and not on the underside of the downtube either). That eliminated quite a lot of good bikes when looking around

I should have expanded. Just done a week in maidera. Temperate climate so about 20 ish degrees throughout winter. Not much rain.

Spectacular scenery and loads of varied trails. So 1 day will not be enough.

Only issue is you need uplifts/transport but if you’re getting guiding that won’t be an issue.

People there are friendly, good food too. And you can go whale watching.

The fumes from my T5 stink. Hopefully we’ll see van’s getting petrol engines or hybrids soon. They could certainly carry a few batteries that would make city driving more efficient.

Not keen on remapping as for one thing my van has done nearly 170k.

It’s slow but I can live with it. Even if it had 130bhp it would still be slow. And it would still be a slow van. I **** hate vans. They have their uses but driving is one thing they will always be shit at so may as well put up with it.

I’ve had mine for over 5 years and had more than enough use out of it. The tanks a bit small so the motor runs a lot and you cant run impact guns and but for tyres its fine, only topped up the oil a couple of times too. Recently changed all the connections to normal air hose fittings too and fitted a hose reel as the old one was getting a bit worse for wear.

Everyone I spoke to who has ridden one has been surprised at just how capable and good all round it is.

I think it’s too much if you live in the S.E. But if you lived up north, Scotland or in Wales and didn’t ride trail centres (non official stuff) it would be perfect as it’s all basically DH without the uplift.

Forget the price of the car. It’s the running costs you need to be comfortable with.
for instance if it costs £200 to get MOT’d and another £100 to service, that’s still better than buying another car which may cost even more when it breaks.

Size? Amount of travel? Suspension set up? You need to be careful with suspension settings on the VPP, especially sag otherwise it can feel a bit dead.

Need to know what you don’t like otherwise you’ll just be buying something else you may not get on with.

You should be able to get a specialized enduro s/h.

Then just change tyres over for DH racing.

FWIW my enduro was longer and slacker than my old DH bike.

We were a tad apprehensive sunday morning but what else were we going to do? Could always bail mid race if it was too horrid. Once down S1 it was all ok.
Thank **** there was a feed station as the early start meant I forgot to eat most of my breakfast. totally bonking before. That hike a bike up the stony hill to the last stage was a stuggle.

Overall a good sense of achievement and everything was rideable. And to anyone who went home. You missed out!
