Do a day. Quite possibly the best MTB’ing on the planet. To go all that way and be there and not ride would be upsetting.

Careful now the faithful will be screaming about all the extra funding our public services got, the record number of young people going to Uni, the longest period of economic growth in British History, the ending of the Troubles, the 3 elections on the bounce and the glorious sense of confidence and unity we enjoyed.
No wait, they’ll just scream “Tory Scum” and the Iraq War.

add NHS waiting times, end of child poverty.

I can take it. He’d wipe the floor with this lot and I bet he would be re-elected. Trouble is Labours been hijacked

    This.
Plus Michael Foot lost an election by less to a far better opponent. Love her or hate her, Thatcher was a natural leader who could garner votes. In contrast the Torys were on their knees 48 hours ago.

She also had some idea about reality.

Kinnock made a great speech and kicked out a lot of the militants in Labour and possibly set the groundwork for New Labour. This needs to happen. Unfortunately momentum appear to behave like a cult.

They lost direction when they chose Ed over David Miliband. Downhill ever since.

100% (Although Ed seems a far better choice than Corbyn). And probably why we’re in this mess. DM may have still lost in 2015 but at least he’d be less off the leave fence than JC was on and probably would have resulted in remain. Thanks Ed.

Corbyn was hammered by the press, had a manifesto so full that it appeared to most people as fanciful bollocks. To the man in the street he was an IRA supporter and then there’s the anti-Semite stuff that happened and which he should have resigned over after the umpteenth occurrence. They were more afraid of Corbyn than Brexit. Wrong man.

Corbyn will go. Just need to hope it’s a sensible person to take over that will appeal to most people.

    I miss Blair.

Must have some form of heater. Insulation is only part of the solution.

Can only echo the thoughts of others. Equipment is an after thought once you understand the terrain and the conditions. They are an absolute last resort and they don’t guarantee survival. Plenty of experienced people with the equipment have died.

You don’t want to be in that situation in the first place. Get a guide for days you want to go back country.

Also if you visit different resorts each time you’ll never understand the terrain and risk.

Stick to off piste on the side of pistes or designated off piste areas and heed the avalanche warnings.

Bearing in mind I only raced it two years ago when it was a washout I’d say the trails are more technical and more fun imo. Certainly felt a bigger physical effort but then it was super wet and boggy.
This over the ard rock unless you want the festival that is ard rock.

I’m sold that EV is better for the environment than an ICE.
But with the reduced costs of driving, our roads will be even more congested.

Simply swapping out an ICE to EV is not the complete answer. We need to think how we travel and own cars. Perhaps in the future they’ll all be autonomous and you just hail one that is going by.

I’d quite like a Tesla though. It’s not often I need to drive further than the range and if I do I’ll just rent a car using the huge savings I’m making not running an ICE

I prefer the proper t handle ones, I’ve had teng ones and I really rate them. Wera seem nice for the L shape ones

Same. Teng T handle ones seem pretty precise and nice to use

It can accommodate us but not if we live the way we do.

Unless there’s a major shift at international policy level, any individual actions among us will count for nothing.

If you know what hill they are on (the one with masts, as can be seen on google maps) you can use Strava or trailforks. be warned a couple of pedal ups will finish most people for the day.

Is a shorter travel 29″ really going to be that much different?
Might feel like it climbs a bit better but probably not.

Cash in hand tax dodging jobs I think… joke

Take a look at motorsports. Even club level karting can costs hundreds if not thousands a weekend for nationals. Parents obviously make compromises elsewhere in their lives. A lot aren’t rich.

Been tempted by an Ebike to avoid the sweatiness. Not so fussed on speed.

Generally prefer the motorbike though as I’m not being over taken all the time. Route to work really isn’t pleasant.

    What campsite is he on?

YEah just take a power bank or two. He’ll be walking a lot there (quite a few miles a day easily) between the track and campsite and carrying a generator round will get boring.

security isnt so bad. Just leave everything in the tent when not there (except valuables). Keep valuables in sleeping bag when sleeping. Not next to the edge of tent.

They can get the tram from the train station.

Or maybe industry could support him if he continues to progress.

Would be a shame to lose him to BC/Track. Not even sure they make much of a living tbh. I know plenty of promising juniors that got burnt out by BC and their olympic obsession. its poisonous.

Why is every choice so binary all the time?
    They could do both?

Unless you both have written agreement that the £35k (or that % of the house value) is hers it could be as simple as 50/50. That would be harsh unless she’s horrible though. Otherwise you can go through arbitration and work out what is a fair split i.e. what percentage of equity you’re fairly entitled to based on mortgage payments, DIY, housework etc.

OP- Your Whyte is more than capable and has fairly modern geometry so is it just an itch for a new bike that needs satisfying? It’s not forward like the Cotic but it’s fine.

But yeah – slacker, longer and lower tends to be more stable going down as well as put you in a good body position. Obviously theres a middle ground as too slack will be an issue.

I’m not sure how it’s taken so long to get this geometry. Even 10 years ago dh bikes weren’t as slack as they are and were riding similar tracks (maybe harder). You would think some manufacturer would have done some testing at opposite ends of the spectrum and find an optimum balance instead its always been incremental changes. maybe so they can create product life and have something for the next model.

We’ve never had it so good – I struggle to see where we go tbh

I love this. They only had one thing in mind – to set the speed record down the Mulsanne. Dog of a car otherwise –

“Speeds on the straight by the Group C prototypes reached over 400 km/h (250 mph) during the late 1980s. At the beginning of the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Paris garage owner Roger Dorchy driving for Welter Racing in a “Project 400″ car dubbed the WM P88, and powered by a 2.8 litre turbocharged Peugeot V6 engine, which sacrificed reliability for speed (the car was out after just 53 laps or approximately 4 hours with turbo, cooling and electrical failure), was clocked by radar travelling at an all-time race record 405 km/h (252 mph).[4]”

This time of year the roads are awful. So it’s just a case of being aware and riding to conditions. You must keep concentrating and thinking about every bend etc. And dont be embarrassed about riding what you may consider to be slow if you’re unsure.

At least you’re ok. Come the summer you’ll be laughing as if you can ride in this you can ride in anything.

He made a huge difference to people and saved thousands of lives, not just civilians but saved other people having to defuse them.  I knew it was only going to end one way but to see the footage was scary especially when the phone rang.

    He’s certainly a hero there.

Water, tube, multi tool, co2/pump, energy bar/gel, phone.  Don’t really need a bag for most races.  Just some pockets and some Velcro.

Only time I’ve used a bag is if the loop is huge and has no feed station.

Dress for the conditions/forecast at the outset.

Met mine at a pub – set up by mutual friends though.

A lot of online dating often ends up with meeting up in a pub?  Not sure it can be blamed for the demise of pubs entirely.

I think the decline of the pub is probably more to do with other stuff as there are more alternatives now such as food and events.  Then it’s easier to stay in with Netflix and internets.

    It’s possibly just redistribution.

Craft ale places always seem busy.  I just don’t think traditional pubs have kept up.

No one size fits all approach but there are certain things you don’t do.

That is get so far back you lock your arms or put weight all on the front.

Generally stay flexible and in control of the bikes position. hold the front up.

The Ford GT and it’s race car equivalent uses a 3.5 V6 ecoboost too.

Will be interested to see.  I think the main difficulty will be learning the track.

They have statutory powers to access but that also covers compensation for losses.  You’ll need to prove what the loss is.

Realistically there’s no harm in negotiating.  They may prefer to not protract access arrangements.

There are no rights with regards to compounds so if that is on your land then you could charge rent for that.

I get wanting to ride the 125 for longer but have a think about bigger bikes.

You don’t need to go fast, the power is on tap to be used – they aren’t on or off.

Instruction on the DAS will be better and more comprehensive so by the time you pass you’ll be more used to it and can continue to gain experience at your own rate.

Then you’ll be able to ride a proper bike with a working headlight and can get to speed a lot easier.

Sounds as if you can ride so don’t worry about taking extra time and get it done.

Forgot about the ‘black bit’ in the trees.  So that’s two/three braking points?

None of the ginger surfaced track needs any thought whatsoever.

    joefm

There isn’t anywhere on the official trails that require any skill whatsoever.  Even flat out they require no braking.  So if you’re competent they are dull as they present no challenge.  Maybe on an e bike or enduro mx bike it’d be fun.

Great for the masses but not for all.

Back to OP – riding with mates is always good but worth changing the venue.

Great for load lugging.  Have  made it nice ish inside for occasional camping trips with my other half too.

Just glad I have a choice of motorbike or car so I don’t have to drive it everyday.  It’s slow and noisy.

What content do Dirt actually create?  It’s mostly rehashing news a day or so late.  And some videos but not a lot.  As soon as the print mag stopped and the writers moved away it was doomed.
