Locals are dying out (I’m in plenty of them every day with my job). @tomhoward posh gastro pubs are where the money is, pubs without kitchens are really dying out. You can improve a plate of food to attract customers but a good pint can’t be improved much.

If you invented mountain biking why does your website say the first race was on a road?

A strange bicycling event called “Repack” changed my life, starting in 1976, when the first downhill off-road race took place on a road a few people called “Repack” road, just outside Fairfax, California. I promoted clandestine races there starting in 1976 and ending in 1984, the beginning of what has become a world-wide sport of downhill mountain bike racing.

    Only messin

Some companies currently based in Scotland have already announced they’ll be moving out if there’s a Yes vote – Standard Life and Bank of Scotland being 2 significant examples.
    Name change imminent?

    The Bank of Not Scotland

My Diablo’s just been through the washing machine and it still works fine. I would definitely recommend. Although I wouldn’t recommend the heart failure when you realise whats banging about in the washing machine!!

I once met an idiot on a TT bike dressed in full aero gear on a busy city centre “shared use” path at 4pm midweek. Loads of people heading home from work, me out with my wobbly 4year old on his new bike. The guy was tanking towards us until I had an “accidental wobbly” towards him. Never seen a man shit himself so much in a while.

Or a telly, or a dubious mountain bike club.

Ha Ha Rob, very dubious! Well done on WHW in a day by the way. If you ever fancy a Wednesday down Peebles way there should be space in the car.

Its owned by the same bloke that has Tourmalet. I don’t think Ventoux is equipped for streaming stuff either. Prob best just take a laptop into a pub with free wifi. Both those pubs don’t have.

I wonder if the cost of the repairs to the Navara will be more than the cost price of the bikes though – I don’t think his truck insurers will pay up for that as he deliberately parked it there.

Surely the van driver will have insurance.

The OP ordered a Cannondale earlier this week so I doubt On One can be blamed for this.

Although on this forum I’m sure someone will manage it.

Search for B&B’s on St Johns Road. Loads of them along there. There’s even a cheap Wetherspoons Hotel along there (The White Lady). The Murrayfield Hotel, a Holiday Inn all on St Johns Rd.

    WTF is ‘premium’ about Peroni?

The price! A publican told me he gets charged £260 a keg while standard lagers are around £100.

Where’s the car park and where are you working. Princes St is about a mile long and there can be a very steep climb towards it. £3.60p/hour in city centre with a max of 3hrs increasing to 4 hrs as you get further out and reducing in price as you go.

Ive been buying “ready to eat” packets of Quinoa or lentils recently. Gourmet Merchant is the brand. I make up a dressing and add some sweetcorn, coriander etc, take it to work and its great cold. Sainsburys do packets of Lentils and kidney beans which are also nice with a dressing.
