@turboferret I can’t see an issue with it at that time in the morning but would watch for the neighbours!
On another note, after starting running in lockdown I managed my first half marathon distance on Friday. Did it in 1hr 58 which is lame compared to TF’s effort but I’m chuffed.
I wouldn’t mind but I had a carbon Diverge last summer and the bloke I bought it off missed it and asked to buy it back and like a knob I agreed. Wish I’d told him to sod off now 🙄
Gutted!
im signed up, just the excuse i needed to get some new bits for the bike
I’m thinking I might need more gears but I know nothing about them! Currently run 1x with a 38T chainring. Would it be better converting to a 2x to pick up speed on the road sections?
Struggling today due to being up all night with a sore stomach! Any ideas on a gentle 30min session? Does stretching count as that might be all I can manage.
I’m seeing a huge difference in my fitness! I’ve just completed my first half marathon distance. It took me just under 2hrs which is seemingly below (just) the average time so I’m chuffed with thatNo let me see. A couple of turbo sessions, a ride round Caberston and another run so far this week. Weather not looking good for the weekend so might do some indoor stuff.
A run round the block yesterday. First one since 9th of Oct but managed a 7k with no hip pain so quite chuffed. 90 mins on the turbo in the shed today, another first in a long time!
Sea kayaking on the last day of our holiday today. Back home tomorrow and going to try my first run in a while as I hurt my hip a few weeks back! Loving this exercising that much I’m seriously considering entering the Frontier 300 to really push my limits! Considering the longest I’ve raced is part of a trio at the Glentress 7 I may be pushing it 😳.
Unless you’re currently horrifically unfit you’ve got loads of time.
I’ve never been fitter but I’ve never been very fit! It’s sitting on the bike for that length of time that’s worrying me the most! How do you get used to it without sitting on a bike for 24hrs?
I’ve only got a dumb turbo so any training tips would be welcome! I think I’ve made up my mind to give this a go so apologies in advance if I ask a lot of dumb questions over the coming months!
We’re staying at Camisky so my son (11yr old) and I tried to go from there over towards Gairlochy (ish) but we were running out of light and it was very ‘stop, start’ due to the mud so we turned back. If we’ve time this week we might give it another bash but it’s been slightly wet today so it’s probably a lot worse now!
Still going! On holiday in Fort William for the week but missed a day when we arrived so did a double the next day. A slopfest bike ride along some of General Wades military road yesterday and an hours walk in the bucketing rain today. Cycle at the Nevis Range tomorrow with some kayaking on Thursaday planned so far!
My wife and 8yr old did the green in the summer and found it fine. We all did the blue which is one of the most boring rides I’ve ever done. Mostly fire road with one trail at the mid point. It’s a fun trail and my daughter loved it but I had to push her up some of the steeper bits in the first half.
I’m going to take it a bit easier this week as my sleep pattern (which had improved at the start of this) was terrible last week. Wide awake at 3am and not getting back to sleep! 2 hour walk with the kids today and Pilates or walks for the rest of the week I think!
Went for a run today and ended up running 10 miles! That’s the furthest I’ve ever run by far! This exercise malarkey’s definitely got its plus sides. A couple of HIIT sessions, a ride and another run earlier in the week.
Just noticed this thread so I’m going to jump in. I’ve lost 10kg since last Christmas but I’ve been stuck at the same weight since mid August. I’ve been exercising more than I have ever done in the past but just can’t seem to shift the next 5kg that I’d love to lose! Any tips welcome.
