This, along with the 100 day challenge has gone a long way to changing my attitude to getting up off my butt! I’ve had 3 days without exercise since Sept 14th and I’m still going! Think I’m going to quietly try for the full year! Thanks again @munrobiker for starting this, it has changed me forever (hopefully!).
New bike will have 48/31 with 11/34. Any suggestions on bivvy bags. I like the look of the Snugpak stratosphere as I quite like the idea of a hooped bivvy. I’ve got an Alpkit pipe dream 400 sleeping bag just need bivvy and a mat.
I was working at the Inveroran Hotel the other day and it got me thinking about the WHW. I did most of it, North to South a few years ago and loved it. I’ve been training for a 300k race buts it’s been cancelled so I’m looking for a challenge. WHW in a day on a gravel bike? I’m not looking to break records but fancy trying it. From memory a lot of it would be fine on a gravel bike. What’s the consensus? Achievable or stupid. I might come back to the start on the bike but at a more leisurely pace with a bivvy somewhere.
What pressures are you running? Are you a big unit?
About 95psi and 80kg.
In terms of the puncture at home – where was the hole in the tube?
The hole was facing the rim roughly in line with a spoke hole so I don’t think it was pinched on installing. Nothing rough/ sharp when I checked. This is the puncture I’m more concerned about as there doesn’t appear to be a reason for it.
Not too sure it would work at the Golfie. Where would you park? On the 9th green? It should go over the Traquair side, much more scope for new trails as mentioned above.
An increase this week (again). I’ve discovered that the medication I’m on for the rest of my life can cause weight gain. I’ve been knocking my pan in exercise wise but getting nowhere! Time for a rethink!
Cheers Stripey. It took me about 9hrs including a puncture stop! Was knackered by the end of it but surprised how well I felt on Sunday! All this trainings paying off but found out today the race I’m working towards has been cancelled!!
Gutted but not surprised! I managed my first 100 mile ride on Saturday and was loving the training!! Definitely defer to next year. I might win it now 😂😂
It’s a virtual challenge in teams of 10 with the destination being Madrid. Everyone records whatever exercise they do whether it’s cycling, walking etc.
Edit – I’ve a direct drive turbo so don’t think I can set the sensors up.
Managed my first imperial century yesterday, with a fair chunk of it off road. Ended up having to cycle round the block a few times as I was slightly short of the century by the time I got home! Worst 3 miles I’ve ever ridden!
I was once chased by a dog, I kept riding, it kept chasing, I kept riding…..and riding……and riding. Still to this day I have no idea if the dog made it back to its owner.
According to Jamie Oliver last night – sun-dried tomato purée, Red onion, Cumberland (or veggie) sausage, pine nuts, rosemary, mozzarella and GRAPES! It looked fantastic so we’re trying it this weekend.
Slightly contradicting my last post regarding staying off the bike I ended up doing 30km today. Tried to make it gentle but I was being chased by two ladies on Ebikes so I had to put them in there place after they kept pointing out that they’d caught me up again!! (I’m now very tired!)
I’ve developed what I think is a Bakers cyst on the back of my knee. No pain but an egg sized lump. I was due a rest week on my cycling training plan so I’ve brought it forward a week and I’ll just do yoga for the next wee while!
There’s been a huge increase in student housing blocks going up all over Edinburgh so I don’t know if this has impacted the private letting market. I’d assume they have secure bike storage etc. I suspect most shorter term lets are Air BnB now! Closest area to Herriot Watt would be Sighthill but I would avoid that at all costs!! Balerno and Currie are close by with access to the Pentlands for (boring) biking but on the right side of the city for quicker access to Peebles.
