My card just got cancelled yesterday by Barclaycard.

They received information from the fuzz who had recovered a list of card numbers somewhere, so instantly blocked my card.

New cards within 5 working days, bit of an inconvenience at this time of year but much less of an inconvenience than trying to sort out the alternative.

I never let my card out of my site and always look for anything suspicious when using the various swipe machines and card readers. Who knows how it happened but at least the CC companies are doing a good job of protecting us.

The $1 US to £1 UK is quite common here. A Santa Cruz Blur LT is $1899 in the US which is around £1200. In the UK it’s priced at £1799.

Import Duty, VAT and shipping add about £300 of that but by my reckoning there is still a few hundred £s added to the price. And that’s working with the retail figures not the factory costs so there’s more there.

At the end of the day the Australian distributor will price it at the level they think they can get away with. If you don’t like the price buy something else.

Add me to the list of 170bhp VAG drivers with fat tyres.

Stopped at work car park barrier yesterday and ended up spending an hour digging myself out. 😕

EDIT: I also have a Santa Cruz with XTR ha ha, I love being a streotype. 😉

currymad, sorry that was for the Aluminium version using list prices in US and UK.
    .
Would be nice to get a carbon for that!
    .
I’ve got a Heckler by the way, I bought my frame a few years ago, fantastic bike. Price drop recently means they are currently selling them for £899. Compared to a Five for £1399 it’s a bargain.

if you’re still thinking about importing, have a look at the UK duty calculator below.

    .
Looks like your $1899 frame will end up being about £1500 plus handling fees which can be a lot. Considering you can get a UK one for £1799 it may be wise to buy in the UK.
    .
What about an ex-demo full bike, LT with X9 build kit in green for £1870.

    Or an ex-demo Orange 5.

MG1’s do get hammered pretty quickly. Clipped a rock on my first ride out and lost a pin.

They do grip nicely though and are a reasonable size platform for bigger plates of meat.

Not ridden nanos so can’t comment.

The reason is that the same nerve fibres that signal hot and cold are also sensitive to menthol, an ingredient in mints. Normally when the temperature changes it causes pores on the surface of the nerve cell to open and close, changing the electrical activity of the cell, which the brain interprets as a change in temperature. But menthol can also affect the function of the pores in the same way and triggers the nerve cell into thinking that the temperature is lower than it is. A cold drink therefore increases the intensity of the temperature the brain perceives.

    Or what they said ^

Another one to try is CTC. Insure up the £12.5k new for old. Look expensive though £500 for £5k cover.

Wonder if it’s an idea to put £500 in a savings account each year and hope you don’t get burgled every 10 years. 😕

Pinched from someone over on MTBR forum who got a response from Fox.

Yes reducing the travel will reduce the axle to crown height. You will have an axle to crown height of 545mm at 160mm of travel and 535mm at 150mm of travel.
The Float 36 fork is the only travel adjustable fork in the 36 family besides the Talas which has 3 fixed travel positions, the Van is not travel adjustable.

    A-C at 160mm travel is 545 so you’re looking at 525 at 140mm.

32 150 is 520.9 so no real noticeable difference, other than the stiffness.

I think someone from Edinburgh Council transport department needs a wee ‘jolly’ over to Copenhagen to see how it should be done.

    Bicycle Super Highway

The routes will be developed on the existing bike lanes but they will have a number of improved features, according to the City’s vision:
    – Smooth, even surfaces free of leaves, ice and snow.
    – As direct as possible with no detours.
    – Homogenous visual expression, for example, with signage and the trademark blue bike lanes through larger intersections.
    – ‘Service stations’ with air and tools along the routes.
    – Possibility to maintain a high speed and with sufficient width to overtake other cyclists.
    – Safe and quick crossing priority for cyclists when they approach cross streets.
    – Green Wave for cyclists through sections with frequent stop lights. [The Green Wave is in place on three main routes into Copenhagen already. Cycle 20 km/h and you hit green lights all the way.]

Not sure I get it. Is it just a bus/bike lane and some new parking signs?

Is there no better way of spending £48k plus the £12k loss of parking income to improve cycling?

Not opposing the idea as I don’t use that route and anything that improves the city for cyclists is welcome. Just asking some questions. 🙂

Yes, look at the Orange, O2, Vodafone, etc, websites.

Various price brackets and top up amounts available.

Also have a look at the Mi-fi and portable wi-fi hotspots. Handy if you have more than 1 computer and also can connect an iPhone or iPod Touch to it.
