Cover XC course with petrol. Give the rider a 10 second start then light the track behind him.

Bread and butter. Mug of tea.

And make it proper butter, not that processed spread crap.

    Oh, and white bread.

BT are OK if you don't need any assistance and nothing goes wrong.

If you do need assistance or something goes wrong they are absolute s***e.

    Sorry, not much help really.

October 4th. Venue to be announced.

Keep an eye out over here[/url] for more info. There is a schedule halfway down on the right and a box saying 'take place in the amazing city of…….'

Very central for St Marks Square etc. and was reasonably cheap as far as I remember.

Now that is a long post!!

So you're after a road bike for some big miles and the odd TT. Why not get some slick tyres for your mountain bike. You're looking at less than £50 and it won't be that much slower than a roady.

At least it will get you out on the road.

Climb up and start dismantling it from the top down. Place in a nice neat pile so as not to look like a huffy git.

Or get some window locks fitted and write to the landlord to ask for name of scaffold company and offer to contact them on his behalf to have it dismantled.

Car Rental Agent: Welcome to Marathon, may I help you?
    Neal: Yes.
Car Rental Agent: How may I help you?
Neal: You can start by wiping that f***ing dumb-ass smile off your rosey, f***ing, cheeks! Then you can give me a f***ing automobile: a f***ing Datsun, a f***ing Toyota, a f***ing Mustang, a f***ing Buick! Four f***ing wheels and a seat!
Car Rental Agent: I really don't care for the way you're speaking to me.
Neal: And I really don't care for the way your company left me in the middle of f***ing nowhere with f***ing keys to a f***ing car that isn't f***ing there. And I really didn't care to f***ing walk down a f***ing highway and across a f***ing runway to get back here to have you smile in my f***ing face. I want a f***ing car RIGHT F***ING NOW!
Car Rental Agent: May I see your rental agreement?
    Neal: I threw it away.
    Car Rental Agent: Oh boy.
    Neal: Oh boy, what?
    Car Rental Agent: You're f***ed!

    and

Neal: Del… Why did you kiss my ear?
Del: Why are you holding my hand?
Neal: [frowns] Where's your other hand?
    Del: Between two pillows…
    Neal: Those aren't pillows!

I would suggest heading straight for Kirroughtree as you are arriving on that side of the country. Overnight at the Breakpad.

Then over to Glentress/Innerleithen for a couple of days, staying in Peebles.

After that head North for some natural riding or up to Golspie and the other Moray trails if you have the time. You could also stop in at Laggan on the way.

Bike hire from the Breakpad, The Hub at Glentress, Alpine bikes at Innerleithen and also at Laggan.

There is a link at the top of this page for the Singletrack Trail Guide with lots of good info.

    Just some ideas.

I ring around every year for listed insurance. Thankfully moving house soon so won’t have to bother in future.

A couple that do it are Hiscox and Churchill (current insurer).

More Than and Norwich Union didn’t.

Direct Line did but they require a valuation, which you should have if you are buying the house.

Try a comparison website. They are a load of crap but if you do a quote it should tell you who does listed and who doesn’t.

EDIT: We get both Buildings and content from Churchill.

OK, I’ll stick my head above the parapet and admit to having one as a company car until a year or so ago. I didn’t choose it as it was a hand-me-back from a previous employee which I had to take until the end of the lease.

It was a 1.6 TDCi Fusion 2 if that helps. CD player and air conditioning were the extent of the luxuries.

    Pros.
Great fuel economy, think I was getting around 58mpg with a mix of mainly town driving and a couple of 50 mile trips a week.
Surprisingly big for carrying bikes etc. even had a full bathroom suite in it with the front passenger seat folded down.
Had reasonable pull and was happy around town. Oh and as it was a Ford so it’s dead easy to drive.

    Cons
Uncomfortable on long journeys, felt knackered after a 5 hour drive.
Engine a bit rattly and quite noisy on the motorway.
Going round corners on country roads at fast speeds was a scary experience. Not really what it’s meant for though.

On the whole I thought it was not too bad a car. Would I spend my own money one… probably not, as the Fiesta isn’t really that much smaller and looks a little less odd.
