As Gribs says above the Edge Explore 2 was designed for those who wanted a good screen for navigation and limited metrics.

I have an Explore2 myself and I really don’t recognise the problems you are having.

I’m 75 (well nearly) and middle class so I wouldn’t spit in Hobgoblin.

I will be drinking some lovely Nieport 10 year old white however.

8 out of 10 Bats started last night on Youtube as a sort of alternative Autumn Watch. On four nights a week and for two weeks. Seems to be a bit more unrestrained from BBC politics.

I’ve bike packed a bit and my first choice is always, always to go to a pub or cafe/restaurant. I find most dehydrated food are just about tolerable.

If your stuck in the middle of nowhere or you want to keep something as an emergency meal then Huel hot foods are bearable. Quite honestly there’s not much in it with packet foods so maybe go with the ones you’ve tried out first at home and are cheap. Not always the ones designed for camping.

Nothing to add except don’t buy chains off eBay, having had a ‘shimano’ one jam and rip the mech hanger in half.

My experience as well. Looked just like a Shimano box but chain stretched to 0.75 after one ride and it was deep waxed!

I’ve fitted 650b x 55mm Mezcals on my Vielo. Its a very tight squeeze but I’m hoping they will help me out on the Badger Divide. So far they have performed very well on dry, rocky Purbeck trails.

I’m running the 2.1’s at 23 psi.To be honest I was going to try reducing that. I’m 13 stone riding low technical trails.

Heating hasn’t come on much in the past week as the house seems to have settled down at 17 degrees with no input from the central heating.
Was away last week so heating in holiday mode (frost stat set at 14) and away again next week.
When we come back, on the weekend of the clocks going forward, we will turn the heating off completely, as we have done for the past 5 years of being here. Heating just goes on infrequently for cold spells from then on.
Combined energy costs for Feb were £130 and will be a closer to £100 for March (with 2 weeks on holiday mode).
We do live on the south coast in Dorset and specifically chose a house with good levels of insulation.

Just as you would any race you would choose your bike according to the course. I’ve used fully rigid, hardtail and full bounce dependant on what they’ve set out for you. In the UK I generally found the courses had little technical element and preferred a very light Niner Air 9c rigid bike. One event in Germany had really tricky downhills (with much slower chicken run options) so I used a Turner Czar bouncer. Last Xterra I did in Maui was a classic hardtail course (I thought) although many were on very light suspension bikes.
I’m not sure you can go beyond a “bring what you got” mentality.

+1 for Giro DND. I tend to have a few pairs in rotation and they have lasted quite a few years for me, although in fairness I’m gloveless for much of the year.

GCN+ is well worth it for the racing, you get far more than CX. You’ll get year round coverage so the classics, grand tours etc. Isn’t it about £40.

    Plus all the documentaries.

And another in Cornwall – London Apprentice. Should be in London?

I can only tell you about my own choice which is the Kask Protone. One of those purchases which must be good because I never think about it! I have two, one in a very nice grey colour.

Went to see Bob Dylan at Bournemouth last night, a 70th birthday present from my daughter. I’ve probably been to worse gigs but I’m really finding it difficult to remember what they may have been.
He didn’t speak to the crowd at all except to say goodnight, hid behind a piano all gig except for one shakey bow to the audience and drawled so badly I failed to understand 95% of what he was saying.Sound quality seemed to be all over the place and some of the band never improved beyond plinky plonky guitar and mandolin playing! And for £110 a ticket. Nevertheless I was clearly in a minority in my opinion as the crowd seemed to go wild at everything they did.

There is no way that she can survive this. Why would the next PM choose Hunt as their Chancellor?

Could he simply be setting the stage for a Mordaunt/Sunak replacement leadership with Hunt promised a decent cabinet post? At one time I would have thought that too machiavellian, now anything outlandish seems possible!

And despite the three separate fires started in the area yesterday, someone landed on the north shore of Brownsea Island today (despite the no landing signs all along that shore) and promptly set up a BBQ! Unless there is a complete ban on portable BBQ’s I don’t know how this will end.

Places like Redruth, Camborne and Bodmin were considered some of the most deprived areas of the EU and accounted for the more than 100 million Euro in subsidies the county received from 2000 onwards(ironic that Cornwall voted to leave then) It really is grim there and far removed from the Poldark fairytale.
There is also only 415 miles of bridleways in the county. An incredibly low number considering its size. Next-door Devon has 1200 miles, Dorst close to 1800.
It is beautiful in places sure, but it rains constantly (slight exaggeration but seems like it) traffic is dire and its full of second homers or worse Cornish! Trust me they will hate you.
I’d look around carefully first and then realise you meant to go to Devon or Dorset :-)

Rene Herse Steilacooms 38mm are about as quick as an off road tyre gets, within the limitations of its width. However, with your parcours why not get a tyre with minimal tread? you’ll easily manage forest tracks with one. Again, Rene Horse do some very quick tyres, but then Schwalbe do as well. Maybe Schwalbe All-round?

Anyone know what the viral load is to be able to continue and how that limit was arrived at?

I must admit I would never consider the need for reapplication over a very short time. In my experience of the worst Dorset winters an application lasts weeks not days. Also, I would have thought a solvent capable of dissolving Putoline in a bottle would also dissolve out any currently applied wax(to a greater or lesser extent) To give yourself peace of mind could you not reapply at home just before your trip?

My main problem with MM’s scientific studies is that they are invariably based on small population sizes, the people in the program, and the trials are rarely controlled or blinded.I think he is often following previous, well designed scientific trials, but the TV programs are very much designed for tv consumption.I’ve always found Michael Kendrick more thorough and useful.
I’m a Pathologist with 42 years of working in the NHS and have seen many examples of poor, inconclusive science, manipulated by big Pharma and other commercial interests which have then gone on to be publicised in the daily press and seen as the “next big thing” in health care.

I am fairly sure he will win the vote but not by a lot and thus limp on damaged further and continue to drag the tory party down. IMO the best scenario for the country

I think this will probably be the case. Limp on? Yes, but there will be a triumphalist spin on it!
