Pro II’s are very noisy, which annoys me.

Also cup and cone is a better system than sealed bearings, just tighten up when bearings get worn instead of paying for new sealed ones.

The ratchet system in the ProII’s is a bit low tech too, I know some people who’ve had longetivity problem with them..

So XT’s for me, but buying British is admirable.

Yup, broke mine at innerleithen pretending I was good at jumps, had one cast on for 6 weeks, not fixed and snowboard season I was doing fell through, had another on for a further 6 weeks or so and it was fixed..

I could pretty much ride as soon as I got the cast off but my arm wasn’t up to much, even skinnier than normal! It also helped to push against the limit I could bend my wrist back (which was much less than normal) either by putting my hands into a budda praying type position or by bouncing off a wall with my hand, gently increasing the range of movement in my wrist..

Everyone else loves them but i bought a pair, used them for one day, found them too rigid and too sticky. Then sold them to my pal.

I use Oakley Shovel’s that I got off ebay for £25 at the moment which have a bit more squidge, that’s what I prefer..

I agree with GW’s hijack, the stiffness you get from double crown forks is more than you get from having a bolt through axle. So why no have a 140mm trail fork with double crowns, like the enduro?

I just fitted a halo choir master, only £20 quid on CRC and it grips well on gravelly stuff, you can’t go wrong with high roller though.

depends, proper UST set up, no, ghetto, perhaps. I have just ghettoed old Mavic 517’s with ust tyres with no problems (using a track pump).

A> Mostly no, only sunnies when it’s bright
B> I find them annoying, especially when they get dirty and coming in and out of light + expense + keep losing them
C> Scratch eye on a bramble once, eye watered loads then I went for a siesta then it was better
D> 70% without glasses, actually quite enjoying Oakley Gascans in the Andalusian sunshine

    its the evolution of language

Yup, no one is denying that, but it has evovled in a homophobic way, that’s why I don’t like the usage.

Gay people use a word meaning
Why is it OK for one section of society to commandeer a word?

I don’t think homosexuals have chosen to be called gay or ‘comandeered’ the word. Straight people use the word to refer to homosexuals as well as homosexuals.

I’ve heard four year olds refer to things as gay…

Well, is that not the problem? Now these kids will think being homosexual is rubbish when they find out about the sexual meaning of the word gay?

oh oh, + if you find you can’t get it to both shift up and down the full range then try replacing the outer from the frame to the mech, that should sort it..

Commission that looked into Chris Moyles using it on Radio1 ruled that Gay=Rubbish.

Really. That surprises me.. the way I see it the definition of gay being rubbish came after the definition of gay being homosexual and started off as homophobic but then kind of fell into wider use..

    Fair enough then..

I’ve got a front 20mm bolt thru one which is fine, runs smooth with no maintenance, but, it takes 2 spacers between the fork and the hub which are separate from the hub which is a bit of a faff, and has almost lead to a bout of public profanity when they dropped dangerously close to a drain when removing the front wheel to load up the car..

Yup pod, middles are cheap, but usually the casette goes as well, due to spending more time in the small cogs, then it gets expensive..

I think the main benefit of having a triple over a double and bash is that you’re spreading the wear over more teeth, I found, when using a double and bash, I’d go through casettes and middles pretty fast because i was hammering the small sprokets and middle combo for most of my riding, other than that no big difference..

Looks like a good amount of stuff, I carry a similar amount guiding..

Individual tools are much better than multitools if you actually have to use them! Also gives you duplicates which is sometimes handy (2 5mm bits on some suspension systems), I carry spare spokes and a knife might be handy?
