I’ve done the exact same and had the same problems! Kiwis are supposed to be super friendly too!

Thanks for the advice, just got round to doing some of these routes this week, there’s some nice stuff around lansdown, much appreciated!

I did the non trailer friendly route at Haldon forest and it was hard! lots of opportunities to tip the trailer all the way along, but doable, then I tipped the trailer on the family friendly route, got careless. But the trailer friendly route is fun and smooth enough for a trailer.

Anyone think that conflict in the coalition is manufactured to help the Libdems look a little less like amoral sellouts?

[edit] Anyone see the bit on have I got news for you where Clegg is overheard saying to Dave that they need to find something to disagree on [/edit]

Aye, the stock colours on the Alpines are a bit average, I got one in Tonka yellow off here that I quite like though..

Good taste perhaps being pushed quite far with blue bars and cables..

I’ve got an Alpine and have ridden a Sovvy quite a lot, the sovvy is very short at the back end (even with the adjustable dropouts on a middling setting) and very rigid, as has been said before, very manoeuvrable and fun on the jumps, but a bit hard work after a while and not so fast. The Alpine, in comparison, feels more like a normal bike.

Both a good option to ride when you feel full of beans, if you’re a bit tired or have a very long day planned a 4-5” full sus is what I’d go for..

Thanks for all the advice, we had a wee blast along the cheeky homebrew stuff in Stanley woods on Friday night, it was really nice, so thanks for that..

Did the full Nailsworth – Avening – Wotton – Dursley loop. It was good! the riding was a bit dull from the start till Ozleworth, then pretty good till towards the end again. Nice day out anyway, the Hazel Wood downhill at the end was great too, especially with the last light of the day on it.

Thanks for all the advice. We stayed at the Wild Garlic restaurant so we could be in town which was nice and the breakfast was great but we had to keep the bikes in the car and the morning coffee was a bit weak!

Here are a couple of phoaties..

thanks for that, I suppose there’s so much road about in the area you’re going to be on and off it a bit.. I liked the look of the Castle Combe one too, I might go and do it tomorrow in fact!

On the original post, if the pump track was not on a slope it would be a lot more accessible to all..

I rode there for the first time this weekend, the trails are great, I took my (trusting) friend’s 18month old round the blue in a trailer which was tricky, it’s quite narrow..

the pump track is a bit rubbish yes, I could just about pump round the smaller track but not with much speed and needed pedal strokes on the big one.

Otherwise it’s a great area, I would say that the blue, red and black bits of trail are all of a very similar standard too, the black bit could do with some more rocky droppy bits I think..

[edit] I love a good pump track, it’s nice to have a skill you can work on and feel yourself improve on, especially one where if you get it wrong you aren’t going to pan your face in! and pumping on real trails feels good! to me anyway..

I think the switchbacks are above mijas, the ones with Mijas in the background, from the quarry, there are some nice parts on that trail but it isn’t 100% rideable by normals..!

Very nice, thanks for that! Love that photo rich.. The quarry and the rocky trails are above Mijas..

Everything, camping and cooking and clothes for November – December in Spain, wouldn’t have liked to have anything less to be honest.. rode from my old work at Sierra Cycling to the Cabo de San Vincente (the westerly most point of mainland Europe),, it was quite nice really.

I did it,, I found with enough stuff on the back I could manual using the brake to keep me up..

The wibbling out of the saddle due to the weight on the back took a bit of getting used to other wise it was fine..

(edit) yup, any kind of bumps or rough terrain was a bit mad though..

    I agree with Binners..

I read this article in the Torygraph (I am staying with someone who has it delivered everyday) about AV voting, by Boris Johnson. The stinking little hypocrite had the audacity to say labour were only for it because it was good for them, his objection to it has nothing to do with the Tories potentially losing out under AV of course.. That’s something to get upset about too..

Yeah, cheeky riding, is it ok? Midweek probably as I’m jobless. it is a bit depressing to get the os map out, mentally eliminate all the footpaths, that’s 80% of the tracks about then what’s left is mainly the boggy end of a field churned up by horses with a gate every couple of hundred metres… joy.

Yeah, that’s ideal, we can do the north side of Barrrth.. I’ll check them out next time!

Monday we’ll be submitting our visa applications, if it all goes to plan. I’ll let you know next time we’re out west?
