Nice job, but is your spade a bit short? Ah well at least you’ll have a couple more logs once you saw the top of the 4″x4″s.

I’m currently enjoying a Williams Bros. Midnight Sun sourced by my wife for me for Christmas from http://www.hoppocketwine.co.uk. Give somebody twenty quid and get them to buy you something different. Don’t be afraid to try different types. But then I don’t think I’ve ever not finished a pint

Fast handling due to the effective straight bladed forks, probably a result of slow stoppers.

Sherwood Pines this morning for me. Most of the leaf litter was frozen and grippy, some of the pebbles a bit icy to keep me honest. My fingers were bleedin’ freezing though. Any warm glove recommendations?

Have you been playing with apertures or something monkeyboy or do you have really small garden furniture? Nice looking bike BTW.

Probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs (don’t actually know if she can though), but mind those rootplates. Plenty folks been squashed by ’em.

Still have an old aerial here and freeview HD is spot on. Have been told that there is no such thing as a digital aerial, but don’t know how true this is, but the signal is still transmitted by radio waves no?

Getting back to the OP. Little bods(colloquialism?) will use nest boxes during colder months for roosting and may be just changing their bedding. Sorry to spoil any fun :?

Does it really matter? I use it to log rides that I’ve done. And you can always edit it on the website if you feel you’ve been cheated.

I think you might find Ellie’s got one in the oven martynxyz, so might be out of action for a while. Still think she looks cute with a bump though!

Yes, as long the motorised carriages have a man walking in front of them waving a red flag again.

Ash you say Mowgli? Luckily this is the best timber to burn green, although obviously it’s better dry. Throw the tarp off if it’s a dry day and it will make a huge difference to the drying-out time even at this time of the year.

Sherwood Pines’ grinding paste now replaced with very-hard pack dusted with slippery sand. Worn Conti mountain kings plus dust equals bike on ground followed by knee and shoulder and little bit of swearing. Luckily no harm done. Would be a little churlish to complain though!

Bike shop salesman- Can I help you Sir?
Customer- Yes I would like to buy a bike to take part in some sportives and such.
Bss- Do you have a budget in mind?
    C- Yes up to £2500
Bss- Oh that’s a lot, could I recommend you buy this lower end Bike for £450, as you appear to be a MAMIL and are not deserving of our finer machines, also I would be very jealous ’cause I’m on minimum wage and cannot afford such luxury like you.
C- No I would like a quality machine that I feel good on and grow with and hopefully annoy those on lesser machines to the point of internet forum winging.
Bss- Very well Sir, thank you for your custom

Full on DH’s, including Full Face helmets round Sherwood Pines. With no attempt at the ‘wall of death’ on the optimistically titled Down Hill bit. Then again I don’t ‘need’ my 4″er round there..horses for relatively flat courses goes out the window when you’ve only got one pony.

There are no hills at the Pines only slopes, saying that some can be quite testing if you are not used to cycling. The blue route is not too technical and has some nice wide ‘single’track in places. The red route can be quite tricky in places, not that it stops families on supermarket specials from having a go (yes I would like to come past, yes you should have read the signs- grrr… sorry)

Pook- that IS what I do, I was trying to illustrate the point that however careful one is, BWs like this will offer multiple lines and inevitably widen. When riding at speed, which is what we all like to do, it is hard to calculate what is best for the trail in terms of long term durability. We are all guilty of damage by virtue of the fact we ride there. We can however negate some of the damage by riding lightly, e.g. not locking up or washing out existing puddles.

WLT is a great example of erosion, but I challenge anyone to show me the correct line marked on the local council’s definitive map. If you try and stay down the middle eventually a soggy patch of peat will swollow your wheel whole.

Classic Ladybower loop, with a couple of mates just getting into proper hills. No unavoidable puddles or mud, how long since that’s happened in the peaks?

Try Spesh. I have wide feet also and these are comfy in road and mountain versions for me. Shimano do a wide version of some of their models too, but most shops don’t stock them, so probabaly have to order online.

Check the condition of the rubber dampers, if these are too worn it can have the effect of twisting the bar in respect to the handle, resulting in you having to compensate all the time.
