Plan to have a more organised life so we can enjoy doing the things we like doing more often.
Then look at the surrounding tip and think “who are we kidding”

@tthew. Very kind of you. I think I found the last one in a hedge bottom though. Still, it would get me in her good books for a while.

My wife’s favourite pint glass, she uses them for squash. It was a Becks Vier one with a square base which she found easy to hold with her limited grip. I imagine I won’t find another.

Coastal path either way, bus to Runswick or Robin Hood’s bay and walk back. Check tide times though as part of it is along the beach at Runswick.

Ride Asterton Bank, and thank me later.
Stopped in Church Stretton for a week and didn’t scratch the surface of things to do. Will return at some point.

The road is fine up to Whinlatter if you’re not taking kids, some of the corners are blind and you’ll be going slow, so take a wide assertive position. You can join the blue route part way up and either follow it all or opt for the return if you want to head for the reds. The blue is fun though, just be aware of gravel on some of the corners (it doesn’t seem to get cleared like it might on a red). And on the way home you can take the blue from the trail center and join the road where you left it earlier, or take the bridleway down to Thornthwaite.

There’s a good circular Walk using the Monsal trail and is good in both directions. Up to the old Bakewell rail station and along the trail to Monsal head, then head across fields up behind the cafe to Ashford in the water (you can have a paddle in the river here if it’s nice). Then follow the riverside(ish) path back to Bakewell. Plenty of food options either way.

You have no control over the humidity normally (and that never affects play) so why should it matter when they close the roof?

Maybe not, but as soon as you shut the roof you’ll have a couple of thousand people breathing out moisture with no way to balance with the normal atmosphere.

I don’t think it’s the rain as much as the condensation due to humidity. The air conditioning needs time to dry out the arena. I might be misremembering this, but I think this is why there’s a delay.

Leave them be if you can, if they try to sting you, nuke ’em. Once they start attacking, they always seem to be on the offensive in my experience.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>@Sandwich Fair enough, small posts can be a pain to firm up. My experience is more commercial than domestic, but always used a string line with solid reference point and frequent checks. A long roofing lat can be invaluable to hold posts in one plane and the line the other. I miss fencing, twenty-odd years of erections!

I think I’ve used my roof box twice, never taking the mother-in-law on holiday ever again! Ours is the ratcheting feet type which will clamp on to any bar. Fed up with buying new bars and foot-packs with every car change though. As with most things – buy the cheapest you can get away with until it breaks/ wears out/”never need this shit again”, then buy the best you can afford.

If you’re cutting the tops off the posts, they’re either too long or you’ve not dug your hole deep enough! You get a lot better finish by cutting the bottom off when you know how long it needs to be. I’ve never had to resort to supporting posts before the mix has set. If using post-mix, give it a splash of water and tamp down every 2-3″ or better still use some ballast and cement to make a 6-1 dryish/stiff mix. You should have at least 2 feet of post in the ground for a 6 foot fence, especially if you’re hanging a gate on one. Screws will be fine, just pilot the holes first and use large-headed screws. It’s not the most difficult job in the world, but like anything, making it look professional takes experience. Remember, measure twice/thrice, cut/dig once.

Sonder do demos from Hathersage, which shouldn’t be more than two hours away from anywhere in the E.Midlands.

I’ve just passed HGV Class 1 (C+E), I don’t want to be a ‘proper’ lorry driver though. Age 48. Need it to tow at work who paid for it. Hats off to anyone who does it full time, artics are bloody huge!

I nearly bought a pair of Skechers for holiday, just before I remembered why I don’t wear the ones I already have. Echoing the above points, they are very comfy for five minutes in the shop, but rub like buggery on a walk. I wear light trousers and leather brogue boots unless it’s too hot.

She didn’t forget, people don’t tend to with important things. She prioritized her time above yours. Sounds like a narcissist. Move on.

I do know what you mean though. Letting inconsequential events roll around in your head is daft, but telling yourself that doesn’t always work. Must be a build up of chemicals in the brain or something,I don’t know, IANAN.

There are millions of ways in which life on a planet could develop, most would probably not end up in space exploration. There are also thousands of species on earth, only one of which cares about this stuff (the rest could happily carry on without us).
We probably look at this from the point of view of space explorers thinking if we’ve done it so could anything else. Add in galactic timescales, in which we as a civilization are a microblip, then the maths will tell you how vanishingly tiny the chances of co-existing are.
If alien life arrived on this planet, the chances of it only being known by NASA in the Space Age is laughable.
Take it all with a pinch of salt.

I’ll be sleeping with them if I have to

Please clarify “them”.

I love Whinlatter, and it stops the Missus worrying about me dying in a ditch somewhere. But I’d love to try some of the suggestions on here.
I’m not opposed to CP holidays, but the thought of being that close to the proper hills and the wrong side of the fence sends shivers down my spine.

They (St Peter’s) used to do a lovely Porter, haven’t seen it for ages though. Hope it’s a dedicated beer fridge and you’re not drinking ale at 4°C.

Boil water, pop in egg, in or out of shell, low setting for a couple of mins, put between bread or chop into noodles with mayo and a bit of spice.

I cycle to work every day when not on call (one week in four) and need the work van, but my current commuter wasn’t bought on C2W. My new bike will hopefully be bought on C2W, but I most likely won’t be commuting on it. Where do I stand on the morality scale out of interest?

Should be out tonight, but woke up with a trapped nerve/unable to turn head much. Started to ride to work this morning but couldn’t shoulder check, so turned round and called in sick.

Possibly Elm, they regrow from the base and the timber dies and can leave a hazard. Only to deal with it is to chop them down. Or as you say, it could be ash, which has the same outcome.

Edwinstowe and Clipstone. Robin Hood country, stealing from the rich (well you CAN afford CP) and giving (thrills) to the poor.

Parasites, the lot of them, if you ask me. They are benefitting from others’ good fortune of buying at the right time and working hard for it. Compound interest is nothing but a loan-shark move. We had to stop the mother in law, twice as it happens from doing it when she actually had access to capital. They’d basically convinced her it was free money, it was only free for them in my opinion. Luckily my wife has lasting power of attorney, so it was nipped in the bud.
Find another way if you can, unless the only other option is for them to suffer.
