currently they’re giving you money to buy and maintain something for work and you’re pocketing the cash instead.

This is exactly what I’m doing 🙂

My grade qualifies for a ‘status car’ 🙄 , but we can just take the allowance as cash.

My role does not require a vehicle. I am not a senior grade. Who knows why I have an allowance. 😕

I hope Englandshire never ever win the Wendyball Planet World Cup Globe Trophy ever again, just so we can see how long boring people can keep bringing up 1966 …

Don’t throw a snowball at your wife/girlfriend while she’s having a shower as they may not see the funny side!

But surely yuo do these things to give yourself a laugh, not to make them laugh? .. and sometimes it’s worth the subsequent wrath 😈

Perhaps there’s a difference between using it in passing … and referring to yourselves as Team …

No, their isn’t. Both equally tool-ish.

teamwork has no part in the education of offspring

Yes, there’s no “I” in team, but there is “me” …

Careful referring to your family as “team” though – they’ll grow up constantly worried that they’ll be dropped from the team if they perform badly.

Do the same morons who use “team” also carry out regular formal performance reviews of their offspring?

I can’t be bothered reading any of the preceding posts, but re. the OP – Yes, report the vehicle, hopefully it’ll be towed away and crushed to the size of a satsuma. Serve them right. Zero tolerance is the way forward with motorists.

I often use “boys and girls” when addressing my kids, which annoys the 5yo as both our kids are boys. The other one doesn’t pay attention to it as he’s only 18mths.

Referring to your family as “team” sounds like the sort of moronic thing Americanists would do. Or people who drive a Nissan Juke / Vauxhall Mokka. The children probably all have matching coats and shoes too.

And lots of us want to carry on ignoring this fact and pretend everything will be okay.

Actually, most of us want other people to solve the problem so we can carry on as we are.

It’s this marvellous age of no accountability we’re living in – everything is someone elses fault or someone elses job to sort out 😀

the open fell should remain free from man-made developments

Yeh, not like the thousands of miles of footpaths scarring the land.
    They weren’t man-made were they 🙄

And of course the miles and miles of drystone wall, completely natural they are 🙄

    etc etc

Perhaps that people should stop being so touchy about a flag?

Much like the massive penises who tut-tutted at people flying England flags during the world cup … apparently anyone not English was massively offended 🙄

What was that Eddie Izzard routine about flags, something along the lines of how the British Empire was established …

3 – religion begins by trying to explain your place in Great Scheme

And the Bible begins by explaining exactly where we all fit “in the Great Scheme” …

(But this thread wasn’t getting religious, so you didn’t read that ^)

The kids are under 5, so will say yes to it galdly.

Ah, this is where parenting comes in. It’s your job to tell them when they’ve had enough. 😀

Would other life on this planet not “experience” it if we were not here?

It wouldn’t experience being hunted, shot, battery-farmed, run over, hooked in the face and thrown back, swatted, stamped on, burned with a magnifying glass, made extinct … lots of lovely enjoyable experiences

the problem is not that people are refusing to repay their loans but instead that the SLC is too incompetent to collect it

The universe and us are one and the same – there is no us without it, there is no it without us

I’m pretty sure the universe would still exist without us. Plenty of other ‘species’ have become extinct and the universe didn’t end.

Most of what we do damages the place anyway in some way or another.

Perhaps it’s better off without us.

    😀

This rings a bell re. something on my laptop a whie ago.

In my case the red shield thing was a viral program that had got onto the laptop and was masquerading as an anti-virus warning.

This might or might not be the same as you’ve got though.

Turn it round, though, and the universe as a whole is pretty insignificant to me, too

The universe would still be pretty much the same without us.
However, we would not exist without it.

Ignoring the universe doesn’t make it insignificant.

Individual people are pretty insignificant just on our planet – there are over 7 billion of us, what significance does any one of us really have? (other than to our family/friends?)

riding various trail centres whilst managing to avoid paying the parking fees which ultimately go to the folks providing the facilities

I suspect if parking charges were re-branded to say “trail-building & maintenance fee” then fewer people would complain … I’m sure there’s a sub-conscious reaction to the words ‘parking fee’ that drives us to avoid it at all cost 😀

Some studies have proven this to be an effective way of increasing the amount of fat you may burn

    To back this up…

I used to eat breakfast then cycle to work. Then, since last Jan I cycled to work first, then had breakfast.

Over a few months until April/May time, I gradually became the slimmest/leanest that I’ve ever been.

I did not change my diet or the amount of exercise I did.

All I did was exercise before breakfast.

One thing in life is certain and that is that there will always be inconsiderate selfish oblivious idiots.

And many of these will own cars, and drive them like inconsiderate selfish oblivious idiots.

No amount of road safety measures will ever get around the fact that many people are massive idiots.

Of course, some cyclists are idiots too … dare I ask how many of these cyclist deaths were partly or completely their own fault?

The Mokka and Juke are the sort of car that beige people buy to make them appear slightly more quirky and interesting.

They’re probably massively stupid and impractical cars, but they say “look, I really have got a sense of humour and everything”. Or some such.

they spend a lot flogging Android phones! More than Coca-Cola!

Why would Coca Cola want to spend money flogging Android phones?

    Or

Samsung spend more flogging phones than flogging Coca Cola?

they can be expensive as people get the ebay syndrome and get over excited and bid too much

If it’s not too inconvenient to get there, it’s probably worth taking a look and deciding what you’re prepared to pay … provided you don’t suffer eBay-itis then the worst that can happen is you don’t win the auction …

Seeing as users can’t be trusted not to use places like Chapel Gate when the conditions make it unsuitable, then the only way to deal with the problem is treat them like the unruly children they are and outright ban them.

There are of course plenty of MTBers, walkers and horsists who also use paths when conditions should dictate otherwise. They will argue that relatively their damage is less, therefore it’s ok 🙄

They’re charging £5 for home grocery deliveries. But the orders, with delivery, are costing £15-20 each to process. And that cost isn’t going to move. But people won’t pay that. They’ll pay £5.

So…Potentailly… if we all decided right now to do all our shopping with Tesco online, we could potentially bankrupt them

The other element of profit that Tesco et al are losing because of online shopping is that people will generally spend less online as they’re not walking around a store putting extra things in their trolley that they didn’t actually go in for.

We always end up spending an extra £20 or so in-store than when we shop online.

Which is why I don’t mind paying £3-£4 delivery, as overall I save (plus it costs me £1.50ish in petrol to get to the supermarket and back).

    Calm down.

It’s only a suggestion that just one stadium could possibly be closing. Maybe.

    This bit’s more amusing:

Don Valley stadium opened in 1991 for the World Student Games in Sheffield at a cost of £29m.

The Student Games debt is not due to be paid-off until 2024.

43 years to pay off £29m … that’s one heck of a student loan 😀

Another 1 here. Not at all bothered what that’s supposed to say about me. Which just supports the ‘1’ result I guess 😀

If bein higher up the scale means you’re more pushy/arrogant/selfish/cocky (which it seems to) then I’m even happier with my 1.
