the appropriateness of something like an F1 for driving on UK roads. It is not as if you can (legally) use all the power

    ?

This arguement must apply to almost every car in Britain.

I can’t legally use all the power of my car either. It’s only a 1.8 Vectra but can easily exceed the speed limit.

    Kids absolutely need routine

I used to agree 100% with this sentiment.

Then I got married. To a Brazilian. Brazilians don’t do ‘routine’ very well. There generally isn’t a ‘time’ for anything as far as I can work out.

    🙂

Why can’t some folk take responsibility for their own actions….

It’s the spirit of the age. Unfortunately. You can see it everywhere.

Everyting is always someone elses fault, or someone elses responsibility to do sort out.

The litigation culture has exacerbated this mindset. Or created it. I can’t decide which way round it is.

When I was a kid my parents taught me not to go jumping into water without knowing if it’s deep enough. It’s not rocket surgery.

if Islam isn’t a ‘race’ accepted, I presume Christianity isnt a race either… How come it is acceptable to think of Judaism can be considered a race

    Judaism is a cultural/religious identity.
Jews do not share one common ancestry, therefore are not a race.

    (I think that’s right anyway)

I’ve often wondered why doors you PUSH open have handles.

    See handle. Think ‘PULL’.

    38. This weeks Top Gear

For all the Jezza-haters to get their weekly fix of moaning on and on about how they don’t like someone they’ve never met and only know from an on-screen persona that may or may not be anything like he is in real life

As with anything in life, it’s each to their own… for me, driving’s a means to an end…

However, I suspect if I were driving through some inspirational or awe-inspiring scenery in something other than a bog-standard family hatchback, then driving would suddenly become a pleasure…

Don’t know anything about Healy Nab.

Lee Quarry is pretty technical in sections, flowy in others, rock gardens/steps, one or two sections pretty hairy in terms of the consequences if you come off … may not be ideal for someone with dented confidence …

However, from Lee Quarry there’s now a link over to Cragg Quarry, which is more fast and flowy – your fincee might prefer this …

So, you could start from Lee, and if she doesn’t like it ride over to Cragg.

“HOPEFULLY SHE WON’T BE GIVEN BACK TO HER PARENTS”

    Stupid comment.

… left our 10 month old daughter alone in the room while we went for a drink in the hotel bar … travel cot, … locked room … 3rd floor … perfectly safe … video babymonitor … No harm done …

Probably the most sensible comment on this whole thread.

    I am simply a number. Headcount +1

That’s just about any job in reality.

Yup. To be sure, it is.

My employer (one of the ‘Big 4’ UK banks) is always whanging on about how valuable their staff are, can they help with work/life balance, bla-de-bla … which is all just paying lip service to something or other – the reality is, you’re an overhead; you’ll be out the door in a jiffy if someone wants to save a few quid 🙂

Always makes me laugh when an employer starts all this ‘we value our staff’ talk … they must use a different definition of ‘value’ to everybody else, because surely if you truly value someone you’ll do everything you can to keep them & treat them well etc etc …

I value my marriage, which means I’m not going to audit my wife one day and say “sorry love, cost-cutting, need to reduce the headcount – basically, you’re too expensive. goodbye”

did you book the ticket online?
    and have the collection code?

if so, it’ll all be on the system somewhere…

although, unless it’s for a specific train/time, they might not believe you’ve not used it already

EDIT: i.e. if you can prove you bought the ticket they might re-issue the return journey part

Doesn’t say it was floating. Have you got kids? I can’t see a pram floating.

Doesn’t say the baby was drowning either … just a journo’s attempt to grab reader’s attention

Not even a suggestion the baby was even slightly moist. Other than due to it’s own excretions.

who’s saying that the pram wasn’t more than wheel deep

“man saves pram from getting wet axles” isn’t half as brave

although, jumping into a river really isn’t particularly brave either, unless you can’t swim or are wearing a suite of armour

Anyone saved a baby from drowning today. Serious story.

Possibly, he only saved a pram from floating down a river with a baby in it.

Whether or not the baby would have drowned at any point is just an assumed conclusion to get a more attention seeking headline.

    Hats off to the man!

    ( as long as he isn’t a roadie )

Obviously not a roadie. They don’t even give a nod or say hello, let alone stop and save drowning children.
