Me and the family are going to Peebles tomorrow, staying till Saturday. I’m planning to escape and get some riding in and hoping to ride Golfie.
Having never been before, I have no idea how the conditions are with all the recent rain. Can anyone offer advice on trail choice or am I best sticking to the trail centres to avoid slop?

When puffer fish are “puffed”, they are full of water, not air.

I just checked Trailforks and it seems to be have been updated with post-Arwen trails.

Blackhall side: Boneyard, Crack Cleaner & Crack to Slack trails are all fine – no gaps or drops, some slabs though.

Scolty Hill: the trails from the Tower are all fine I think, I haven’t ridden these for a while though.

I have a BikeYoke Revive. Don’t know about the Divine but there’s an internal foam washer in the Revive that can lose its shape and extrude into the gap between the inner and outer shafts. This happened to me and stopped the dropper from extending, I was able to pull it up by the saddle though.

I bought a tyre on ebay which the seller marked as despatched 9 days later. I waited another 6 days but it didn’t arrive. Raised it with ebay and they stepped in 2 days later, they had the money back in my account 3-4 days after that I think.

I had a knocking/creaking noise when I put the same coil shock on my Bird AM9. Turned out to be due to the hardware. I swapped from a bushing to this bearing kit from TF Tuned, no more knocking!

I bought a 230×60 RS super deluxe coil from TF Tuned. They removed the spacer to make it 230×65 to suit my bike. The sag markings aren’t accurate but I can live with that.

Getting our retriever is one of the best things we’ve done for the family. We have three kids who were five and seven years old when we got her. Three years later and she is the best behaved of our dependents!
Moulting isn’t really a problem as we have wooden floors, quick sweep is all that’s required.
She’s a great trail dog too, although she does occasionally disappear when she catches the scent of a deer. She has always returned though…so far.
Golden retrievers are easy to train because they’re food orientated – they’ll do anything for a treat. Six months old is still young so training won’t be a problem if you are consistent.

I have the Roam. It is waterproof but could really do with pit vents. I overheat really quickly when wearing it so don’t really use it for cycling anymore, unless it is freezing.

I read this thread earlier in the week and it got me thinking that I hadn’t had a bad “off” in a while.
That evening I went out, got off-line and stuck my foot out for balance. My foot got caught in some long grass and folded like a receipt…torn ligaments and an ankle like a pineapple.
I then looked at Strava and it showed me a ride a did one year ago where I clipped my bars in a tree which threw me shoulder first into another tree. Couldn’t lift my arm for four weeks.
So to answer the OP, once a year, in mid-August.

I’m doing a lower leg service on my Lyriks. Just realised I don’t have the 0 W30 fluid but do have some 15 WT. Reading the earlier replies it seems that the 15 WT be OK as it’s only 10 ml per leg for lubricating. Is that correct?

As Nixie says, you can adjust the SLX clutch by removing the cover. However if you’re a bit ham-fisted (like me) you might over torque the cover bolts and then round them when trying to remove them again!
The XT has clutch adjustability without removing the cover. I now have an XT.

Joe, out of interest, what is the 1600 lumen light you run on your bars?

90 minutes (felt like 90 hours), all of which were spent watching wafers slowly going past me on a conveyor belt. It was unbelievably dull!

Psychle, I was in a similar situation to you!

I'm in my 4th year of my Mechanical Engineering degree having started it at the age of 32. I did a uni Access Course in maths and physics two evenings a week before commencing the full time course to brush up on the fundamentals as it had been 15 years since I'd done any at school.

I think I may have struggled going straight into the course without doing the Access, as mentioned above many subjects in 1st year are pretty maths intensive, but with this preparation I found 1st and 2nd years to be pretty straight forward.

    Thanks for the posts.

In your experience, when approaching bus stops, do bus drivers interact with cyclists who are in the vicinity? For instance, when passing a cyclist then pulling into a bus stop soon afterwards, is there ever any communication between driver and cyclist about the upcoming manoeuver?

I believe indicators, brake lights and hazard lights could all be described as methods of communication, but perhaps there could be other measures introduced to reduce accidents involving buses and other road users.

Sorry I wasted your time crikey.

The tear is closer to the tread than the bead. When fully inflated it would be about 15mm from the wheel rim, so I don't think the bead will cause problems.
