I have a forerunner 245 and wouldn’t buy it again, on the basis that it massively struggles to pick up a GPS signal, meaning sometimes I get incorrect mileage stated for a run or ride.

I regret not looking at Polar…

I would recommend taking your FS. Yours has a ton of travel but I guess that’s negated a bit by the motor.

Each to their own I guess but for me the trails around pitch are far more fun on a FS than a hardtail.

I have a fox rampage pro carbon for DH/uplift days. Really pleased with it, really high quality so I would thoroughly recommend

Remedy would be a great choice. My mate has one and I’ve had a few goes on it. Great traction, nimble and strangely has a bottomless feel to it. He bought it without trying one and I always tell him he’s landed on his feet.

I’m not near you, but had this done just over a year ago. A couple more cupboards than your diagram, 2 bedside units, 2 chest of drawers. That was £4k for the local chippy, plus handles and painting so your £7k price does seem a bit steep.

However the guy painting really mucked it up. Kindly painted our bedsheets, our thermostat and a bit of our ceiling for us! So perhaps getting it done by a company that pre paint in a factory would have been better. Got a quote from Martin West Interiors, wish we’d gone with them in hindsight as they were reasonable. No idea if they’re national or not.

I think you’d be fine with a pickup if you’re considering one. Mine (older Ranger) has been solid at carrying bikes and has never struggled in mud.

Measured the width of the cut out at the top of the frame and looks like its smaller that the top than the bottom, so looks like I must have over tightened the clamp when I originally got the frame. Managed to get it back to normal size by levering it with a smaller post – seems to have done the trick as the new post fits now.

Thanks all for the help, was worried I’d end up having to buy a new post!

    Thanks All,

Mine was bought new in 2020 (purple bruiser) so I guess that means it’s a 2020 or 2019. The post I’ve pulled out is 30.9. Therefore assuming the frame is 31.6 – am I likely to have ruined it if I’ve run a smaller diameter post?

Thanks for taking a look. I’ve just stuck a vernier gauge on there and it does read 30.9. Unless I’m being thick it’s not looking like good news

Personally I find a Mud King or a Dirty Dan to be far superior to a shorty or mary in the slop

I have a Pace RC627 but wouldn’t have another one. Lovely bike in a lot of respects but the bb is stupidly low, even with 170mm cranks

I was put off by Kinetic on the basis that a)they don’t have the Reign kit to match the 2018 onwards reign and b) the fact that they state their kits are generally made up of their own bearings, although they occasionally supplement with Enduro bearings.

argee – thanks for all the info. I had noticed Wych Bearings and was thinking just to order individual bearings from them. I know that the Reign is made up of some 6802 bearings for example, but what I’m confused on is LLU vs LLB, as well as standard Enduro vs Enduro Max. From what I can tell LLU is just the better seal, so will still fit ok, therefore I was going to go for the following bearings:

    https://www.wychbearings.co.uk/6802-llu-max_enduro_bearing.html

Do you think this will be ok please?

    Thank you both

I recently got a hardtail (different brand) and they provide all specs in detail, so it’s a bit frustrating that giant don’t do this, even though they do have an archive.

I was getting a feeling it might be BB92 so that’s what I’ll go for

    Thanks again

I can see why they’d be annoyed, especially if people are dropping litter everywhere. The sign seems polite to me.

Black Cat coffee was recommended to me, I’m pretty pleased so far. Incredible difference in taste vs any of the stuff you buy in the supermarket:

Your mate says he’s not fussed about waiting for you, so I wouldn’t bother changing the bike in your shoes.

It’s the same with a mate I ride with. He’s quicker than me uphills and waits for me, as he’s a mate. Equally I’m much quicker uphill and my brother, I wait for him. It’s just the way it works with riding with mates isn’t it?

It’s been fairly quiet during the period of snow, but has been much busier during January than it would normally be at this time of year. I rode through one of the holmbury car parks today and it was full. Pre March 2020, it would be normal to see about 2 cars in that car park at most times of the year. So still rammed even in lock down from what I can tell

Thanks all. There’s a 2 year guarantee described in the listing. I guess if you’re supposed to organise that as a consumer then it’s fine, but if you’re supposed to organise it via the ebay retailer then I can see problems

Zippykona – A little more comfortable with it, but still find it bigger than I’d like. Decent battery life is welcomed of course!

I’ve currently got a Pace RC627, would recommend it if you’re after something with modern geometry. Nice and long and has a nice feel to it. I’ve had a PP Shan in the past, which I loved but they do come up a bit short these days

I’ve just done this as have moved to an area with rubbish broadband. £33 a month is good, I’m paying more than that but I suppose I wasn’t an existing customer

Thank you. My first port of call was to try Pace, so I’ve emailed Sophie and also tried to call them, but no luck.

Therefore was hoping someone on here might have gone through the same thing and have an idea of the bolt size

I’ve just switched from an old SE to the new SE2.

Can’t stand it, awful phone. It’s too big, and the virtual/haptic button is a truly shit piece of design.

I have a 627, really pleased with it.

I’m 6 foot 2 and should be on the XL according to the geo chart and the designer, whom I spoke to. However I went for the large (485mm reach) and really pleased that I did. As I already have a full suss that’s long, I wanted a hardtail that was a bit more playful. I wouldn’t say it’s playful at all, but it is still fun and I feel if you go too long you would lose some of that.

The ride Quality is brilliant, it just feels so well damped at the back and is super stable.

Definitely not bothered about gloss versus Matte black, but I would be bothered about any enhancements in a new version

Good to know they’re the latest. On a bit of a tight budget so think I will go for Bike24/Star Bike

Thanks for that. Have wanted to give one a go but doesn’t sound as versatile as a Mary. My go to (front) is a Mary, then when things get sloppy a mud king or a dirty dan.

Is an Assegai good when it gets a bit muddy, or is it a hard pack/summer only sort of tyre?

    Thanks everyone,

Although I would normally gravitate towards the one that gives the longer wheelbase, I think in this case I will go for the 37mm. Sounds like it’s the better choice from the feedback, plus as Pace recommend a 37mm offset, I’m assuming they did all the geo charts with a 37mm

    jk1980

Thanks very much. So basically you’re saying a shortened wheelbase by about 9mm ish?

I feel the wheelbase on the frame I’ve just got (Pace Rc627) is not super long so I’m not keen on shortening it. Then again, they measure with a 37mm offset I think so I suppose I won’t be going any shorter than their geometry charts, plus 9mm is not a lot.

Does anyone please know, are you currently allowed to enter Switzerland if travelling from the UK?

The UK is not on this list so it seems to be allowed from what I can tell:

    https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/empfehlungen-fuer-reisende/quarantaene-einreisende.html#1918240392

However, it seems to be implied that the UK is a high risk country (and therefore not allowed entry) if you follow the “Can I enter Switzerland from a country or region that is considered to be high-risk?” FAQ on this link:

    https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home/aktuell/aktuell/faq-einreiseverweigerung.html

That’s because it seems to be saying that non-Schengen is high risk and not allowed, and I’m pretty sure the UK is not classed as a Schengen country.

Great, thanks all that really helps,

If that’s the case then I think i’ll go old cassette & chain, with new mech and the new cranks
