Helped out directing the long queues at my local rural garage this week, virtually every driver that went by me wound their window down and said ‘Its the media stirring up all these idiots who are panic buying, look at them, have they no sense?!’

I literally cannot do the home test because I keep gagging badly when I try to touch the back of my throat, at the moment I just shove it up my nostril only but am sure that wouldn’t pick up the old virus. I ask my wife to help but its no better, also can’t see any tonsils but I know I haven’t had them removed.

Any tips on how to stop myself gagging? Would the test pick up the virus if used up the nostril only?

Thanks TiRed for all you and the others have done to help us understand this pandemic throughout the year. You have certainly helped me to try and find a way though the morass created by the politicians.

It’s not 100% effective so yes there’s a small risk certainly a much smaller risk then where you are now. You just having the jab does not mean a normal life, I’m sure you know we needs high percentage of the population.

What will the position be for us ‘post jab’?

Has it been clarified yet if you can still carry the virus ‘post jab’ I’m a couple of years older than Mrs JJ55 and after a recent landmark birthday I’m now in a different age group which means I’m likely to receive a jab a few weeks or even months before she does. So will this mean that if I go out and start to live a near normal life again I could potentially bring home the virus and infect my wife?

We’ll see her again!! And it will be glorious!!

I’m in Herefordshire which is soon to be Tier 1, we’re surrounded by areas of much higher rates of covid. I have a feeling our pubs will be busy this Xmas, but not necessarily with locals. Standing by to go back up a Tier in January. Crazy

Familiar scenario I would guess but it’s doing my head in. Wife and I are retired and haven’t really seen our grandchildren all year, only met the new baby once. We’ve kept ourselves very much to ourselves with online shopping, walks in quiet places etc. We’re nearly going out of our minds not seeing our beloved children and their families. My sister lives next door and is carrying on life like nothing is happening. Grandchildren visiting and staying with her, going into a small office to work when she could work from home, out for meals in pubs/cafes etc. B.I.L. Owns a business and had a Christmas party in a little local restaurant for his company this week. I’m feeling like a freak, they’re treating us like we’re suffering from acrophobia and talking to us with pity in their voices. Is it me!!??

It’s been agony not seeing my kids and grandchildren this year. Plenty of tears have been shed by us all.

But we’ve all settled into a new routine of meeting regularly by FaceTime which has helped.

To meet up now will not only expose us to the risk of infection but upset us all when we have to part again for who knows how long.

I’d rather knuckle down and carry on as we are until the glorious day when we receive the vaccine and can truly start to rebuild our society.

Had the ‘ordinary’ flu jab recently. Drove upto to the the first gazebo and gave them my invite letter , drove to the next gazebo, arm out , jab, drove out. All within about 2 minutes without getting out the car. Quicker than a McDonalds drive thru.

So nice to have some good news, even though we all still need to be cautious for a long time yet. FTSE is going through the roof!

Standby for the political maelstrom that will develop over who gets the jabs first.

Try opening an account for a charity or small organisation at Lloyd’s, virtually impossible!! Tried going into the local branch to sort it out with a real person. They just rang the same helpline that I had been using for days trying to sort it out. Local banks are a thing of the past, god help the elderly, disabled, computer illiterate folk!

They’ll be a lot of ‘me’ time on the nations’ toilets tonight 😃

I learned my lesson one day when I had a rant at a guy who cut me up badly in a slowly moving queue of traffic. He turned out to be a VERY big and VERY angry man who got out of his car and invited me to sort it out at the side of the road! A very unpleasant character. Thank goodness for central locking 😳

Thanks Cougar, Sorry I should have said that I was aware of the upgrade but now specifically looking for an on-line host that could take the file in its current FTM format rather than shelling out around £80 for the upgrade to only use it once to bring the data up to date so i can upload it to a site.

My front strobe went after using it a few times, took it back with receipt to Aldi, spoke to a harassed and mega stressed shop assistant who informed me that if its over 3 months old they cannot refund the money you have to go to the manufacturer, and then they briskly walked off. No details of the manufacturer on the box, went onto the Aldi website and put in the product code but could find no details of the manufacturer on there, gave up and vowed never to buy anything electrical from Aldi again
