+1 for the inner tube and leccy tape. Super stealth on the BFe. Also wrap leccy tape around the bottom part of the seat stay just incase. Same principle applied to the white Mongoose but using white duck tape instead.

The SS has a nice XT 4 pot brake which has been the most hassle free part of any bike I’ve ever owned. ’06 I think.

The TT bike has a Campy Nouvo Record Crankset, which as far as I can tell is early 80s.

All the people complaining about the BFe’s handling with 140+ forks on, clearly aren’t rad enough to get the most out of the frame.

Stick to mincing about on your fatties.

gmex, I never said it would be lighter. And you’re right, it probably isn’t possible, but it would look cool as all hell.

Carbon ring too or is it just the colour?

IIRC it’s a decal on a normal chainring. Might be wrong though.

Di2 does seem a waste on it though.. More weight..

True, but an end shifter wouldn’t look quite as neat. Add a hub gear and it would look incredible!!

With the underlining it looked more like a q.
It’s single ring, so the Di2 shifters just have one button on the end of each tri bar extension. A thing of beauty and engineering.

I’m guessing I’m not the only one that thinks this, but there is a direct relationship between the angle between the top tube and seat stays of a hardtail, and how good looks. ie, My medium BFe looks better than a large, but not as good as a small.

I have the brand new 55CRs put down to 150mm. Super plush, lovely lovely things. A bit lighter than the 55Rs too. Do it.

Yesterday got a HUGE 56t chainring for the TT machine.

Today got a pair of Onza Ibex Skinwall tyres for the Inbred. They look the right flippin’ business.

No, I’m on a steel bike with clip-ons doing short 22s. Looking for mid-long 21s this season.

Maibe Darkside is probably the hardest to clean.

Stainburn Boulder Trail is the techiest trail centre, with some of the old purples across the road being the steepest ridable thing I’ve ever seen.

Ingleborough into Ingleton is pretty bloody mad-tech-gnar and super exposed at the top. It scared me more than the double blacks I’ve ridden.

Well, being a tight Yorkshireman, a good price for a given set of new forks, regardless of the actual price will do me.

Around Leeds, 42/16 is considered very small. Most of the guys I know run between 46/17 and 49/17. I’m on 49/18 and it’s more than low enough. Gets tough up 10-15%ers mind.

I run an old 4 pot XT and an old Hope M4. Luckily they both use the same pads. But they need different oil which is slightly annoying.

Wolfenstein, as far as I remember, that model of brake is not flipable. But it probably still work upside down. It would make it a farse to bleed.

Loads of people do exactly what you are talking about. So you won’t be laughed at for lapping the easier stuff on a big rig. Also, the jumpier blacks like A-line are perfectly fine if you are confident jumping. There are no mandatory doubles or drops. Plus you get to come back and brag about riding the famous A-line.

The Urge Archi-Enduro. Basically a proper DH full face, but with a smaller jaw protector to allow better ventilation/breathing/visibility.

I had a quick razz on one at the STWeekender (it was quick because my friend gashed the tyre open) and I can only agree with the above statements. Climbed like a proper XC bike, descends like the BFe, unitl you get to some rad tech, then it just eats it up. It rides and handles like it is much, much lighter than it actually is (although this may change for a ride longer than 30 minutes)

I’ve seen indicator units with a brake light in too. Just a switch that gets pressed when the V-brake arms squeeze together.

On a ridiculous ride. We got a bit wet, and thought ‘Why not carry on?’

We also found a rope swing

One of the best rides I’ve been on. Only went about 10 miles through the woods in Leeds. Always makes me laugh, and always gets brought up in conversation.

Orange is for freeride. As were the gold and purple at Stainburn. I believe Stiniog has a double-black run also.

You could always look at an eccentric BB for a frame with vertical drop outs. And something like a new BFe could take a slackset HS.

Pretty sure I’ve seen him parking in the Car Park by the jumps. I’m up most Sundays at that time. (Just use it as a good place to have a break on the XC ride). Ill keep an eye out.

I have Turbine cranks on my Inbred.
And 2nd hand Wotans cost me the same as my new BFe frame.

I did a road ride fixed with SPDs then a few commutes. Changed back to toe straps because I robbed the pedals for the MTB, and I hate it now. Main problem is getting your feet back in once you have stopped at lights etc. Plus, as mentioned above, you can’t pull sick skidz (as easily) with toe straps/flats.

Woody, I’ve had a gander at Bob Jackson before, was it the ‘enamel’ you went for?

That purple Giant(?) is lovely with the fleck lacquer.

You could try different combinations of sprocket and chainring size till you find one that doesnt require a tensioner.
Or do as I once did and go for the pikey option.
