Train for 2 years then make your come back in the old giffers category. Straight to mid table!

Out on a ride with 8-12 people, set off from some lights going straight ahead into a bus lane (This is a left only lane for cars at the lights so we aren’t holding anything up). Driver honks his horn for a prolonged period of time as he comes past us. One member of the group has a word at the next set of lights. Then because of traffic and lights we end up leap frogging this car for a while. He starts hurling abuse out of his passenger window, right across the face of his very embarrassed looking girlfriend. The best was ‘You’re all f***ing peasants! Get a car’, and, directly at me about one of the more vocal members of our group ‘You need to tell your mate to lay off the fizzy pop’, before calling me a peasant one final time and driving off.

I had a similar issue, a few times recently actually. First when I refined the category it wouldn’t load any products. Then today when I logged in to make my purchase, it just wouldn’t load anything other than the top banner. Working fine now though.

49×18 (72″) on the fixed, up hill, down dale, even some MG TT’s. (If you’re TTing fixed, why not just do MG?) Comfortably sit at 21mph on the flat. And I’ve hit 42mph down hill. Going to go bigger get some more power in my legs, as I get all the spin training I need on the SS MTB.

Don’t think you would be able to find a frameset for sale in the UK, but the All City JYD is a thing of beauty

*Edit – Didn’t twig you meant a Surly 1×1, thought you meant singlespeeds in general. D’oh.

FUNN Mambas, similar to the CB Mallet and the new HT. Cant fault mine. Much, much better than my old DX’s.

There’s a huge scree slope on the north side of Snowdon Horseshoe before Crib Goch. Smaller shale rather than fist sized lumps too. Pretty steep mind.

The Gusset R-series are very similar, plus they come in some great fabrics! I have the tartan one, its getting a bit worn now, thinking about the tweed as a replacement.

I would be careful putting an offset bushing in the lower shock eye, as the air can gets pretty close to the rocker link, I have a Float CTD BV with trail adjust that has been Push tuned for the bike. It’s great on the downs but bobs a lot while climbing, so I would suggest something with a really good lockout, not just a pedalling platform,

My mate got one, despite ordering a rotor and some grips. On the other hand, some poor chap in NZ is not getting his for a while.

I used Dogtag. With their ‘extreme’ level. £210 for 8 weeks IRC. Alot less if its for less than a month though I think. Everything seemed a very reasonable level and that they weren’t going to con you if you need to claim. Also you get a set of dogtags with their contacts deets and your policy number on should you end up in hospital

This is from BUCS ’11 at Moelfre Hall. Resulted in one of the bigger offs I’ve had.

This is somehow the biggest jump I have a picture of me doing. Can’t even get a decent frame grab from a video because they are all POV.

They are ace. Im running the 2013’s at 150mm on my BFe. Really easy to adjust the travel. Really stiff. Nice and plush. Can’t fault them really!

Soon to have a parts transplant onto a Yeti ASR-7

The 4 stages are part of the 40km loop. I guess you could take a different route if you knew some shortcuts, but then you would miss out on riding the transition stages with everyone else, which was really good fun and a massive part of the overall friendly, fun atmosphere. Also, you still get an overall lap time even if you do the enduro rather than the sportive. But most people have a breather at the top and bottom of the stages. Camping was fine last year, think it was £5 a head.

I did it last year on a 150mm hardtail and I was fine. Definitely recommend knee pads at the very least. I managed not to puncture, but I’ll probably stick a dual ply on just to be safe this time.
Last year the stages were around 3 minutes for the fast guys. 4 minutes was about average I think. Stage 1 had a wee bit of up hill/flat and stage 3 had a long fireroad up and downy section at the end. I’m definitely going to get a dropper post for this years.

Have a look at the Trailstar – 16″ perhaps? Top bikes!

    +1 for the Trailstar!

Bought a full build one years ago as a 24″ DJ/street/park bike. Then had it as a trail bike for a while, then a rigid SS, now after a year on the shelf, I have just rustled up enough parts for a 4X bike.

2 4:1 gear reductions on (assuming 27″ wheels) gives 432 inches does it not? Which means roughly 77 rpm for 100mph.

I have the 26″ inbred, I only run a QR and its fine 99% of the time. It usually falls off on the first climb if I have been lazy putting the wheel in. On the other hand, my friend has the 29er, runs QR with tugs, super tight chain, and it’s always coming off.

You might even be able to get away with a 34:17 if there is so much slack in the chain. Worth a try?

Inner tube plus leccy tape. You can normally find leccy tape in a close colour to the frame so it looks neater.

Is that what double pinch punctures are called if it happens on a night ride?

I once read about the guys doing drafted speed records on the salt flats, hitting 150+mph. They had to use tyres that had been made specially for high speed solar cars IIRC. This was due to normal bikes tyres de-laminating.

I’m on Pro2’s with Oozy’s. Only one ride in but they seem ace. Nice and light, and reportedly bomb proof.

I have the 55CR’s. Super plush. Take the stickers off and they look amazing. Do it.

Can’t fault my Restrap bag. 30ltr messenger. Really comfy. Really well made. And can be used as a normal messenger bag, then fill it all the way up to the top for weekends away. Its huge.

There was a sweet tackle by a Gendarme on a spectator stood right in the middle of the road.

I have just got fitted the new Marzocchi 55cr’s adjusted down to 150mm. They are the flippin’ real deal. Awesome, awesome things. Plus they look great! straight steerer, so on the newer BFe’s you can run an internal bottom HS cup keeping the front end slightly lower than a tapered steerer fork.

    Another medium here.

In case you’re wondering, the wheels are Halo Tornadoes on green Pro II’s.

Absolutely top weekend. The only downer was the wind, as previously mentioned, but better than rain I guess. As Fortunateson said, the stages may have been better losing the height slightly slower so as to make them longer, or make the climb back up not as arduous. But the tracks that they did tape out were still ace. Couldn’t understand why more people weren’t taking advantage for the rather conveniently placed pub on the 2-3 transition. Pretty chuffed with 30th.
