Mind you on the subject of celebrating war and wasting money i hear the culture secretary has 4 years of events planned to remember WWI. Not sure that’s justified or healthy.

Maybe they should use the word Cemmemorate

Do they have war museums in Germany I’ve never been lucky enough to visit.

I don’t think they remember/celebrate it with the same fervour we do, went to Munich once to various palaces/museums and it tended they tended to concentrate on how they looked after the bombings and how they’d rebuilt it to their former glory.

As for what happened, I don’t think they want to advertise it TBH.

As an aside why all the D-Day programme’s this week, yes I know it’s an anniversary but 59 isn’t a significant figure.

Alot depends on where you are based.

As said previously use Magic Seaweed on a regular basis, which is an invaluable resource living up here. Nearest break is a 2/3 hour drive away so always cautious when planning a trip.

Didn’t Sir Brad use these in the Tour last year?

    Managers!!

I bet there’s a manager for every aspect involved in the NHS, and they have to answer to another manager who reports to another for three or four layers until it reaches the main man.

Where Mrs J works, not the NHS but the Civil Service, there are folks who are “Managers” who keep a diary which the staff also do to progress work on time. Of course all management positions are “Ring-fenced” whenever cut-backs are going through, so you get rid of the staff.

I use the old public information film saying “Only a fool breaks the two second rule” and use an object on the side of the road as a reference point.

*shuffles off to find pipe & slippers

The use of mobile phones while driving has dropped noticeably and significantly. Of course the police can’t be everywhere and see everything, but the law has had a clear impact.

I’m afraid to disagree with you on that point, the amount of folks driving around here whilst using their mobile phone is quite frightening, I think alot of people have it as a comforter.

I understand that the Govt. are trying to make roads safer by introducing the new laws, but with the high profile cut-backs that are taking place it just seems like lip-service and it gives the BBC something to publicise.

    As said before – unenforcable.

    They can’t do mobile phones.

Will there also be the “It wasn’t me driving the car that morning” defence?

Quick question – how much time/money has been spent lobbying/passing these new laws through Parliament when the Police/CPS are being stripped right back to the bone?

The one’s to the left of the stone circle after the climb from Earnslaw?

That’s a nice climb, especially on SS. 8O

    Doesn’t look like water erosion.

There are two or three left hand switch-backs,where the lines do seem to be more flowing than water flowing, especially the last one leading to the rocky drop-off into the Consevators yard just below Wyche Cutting.

Sounds too gnarly for the likes of me anyway,

Oh Stoner, modest to the end – you’ve never done the cheeky zig-zags at the end of the Rabbit Run?

Did Verderers a couple of weeks ago, really good fun, but don’t stop whatever you do DO NOT STOP!!

Just ruins the flow of the trails.

    Signed.

But I’m relying on the CPS losing the files/case getting thrown out/HCA screwing up trials/and lack of morale in the Police Force due to cut-backs to get off. :D

BTW will I be able to use my Co-Op members card to get point?

Took Mrs & the dogs down to FoD on Saturday, got to do a loop on the Verderers trail, did enjoy it going flat out all the way round.

Yesterday did loop on the Malverns for a couple of hours before the tourists turned up.

A first mention here for –

    Steve Howe

    followed by –

    Jimi Hendrix
    Eric Clapton (early years)
    Seasick Steve
    Dave Gilmour

Not that I’m saying Steve Howe is better than Hendrix, it’s just he’s never mentioned in the top 5/10 threads.

    As for bass players –

    John Entwhistle
    Chris Squire
    Geddy Lee
    Mani
    John Paul Jones

rinse it, rinse it, rinse it, rinse it, rinse it

then plenty of water and boil for about 25mins

I don’t boil it for that long, just until it yields when you bite it, drain reserve some water, put water back over pan, rice in a sieve over the water, and cover with foil and lid to keep warm.

It’s ok, they still have Wimbledon, golf and the boat race.

[pedant] Thought the Boat Race was on ITV this year?[/pedant]

It went down there last year IIRC, there isn’t a map on-line this year so can’t really comment, but there’ll be someone along how can.

You propbably know this but every picture you post looks as though it’s taken though a layer of vaseline. Your “camera” is either knackered or needs a clean.

I just put it down to the fact the frame was weeping because it’s now with “STW Framewrecker”

Went along to FoD on Saturday for the first time in years – my god it was packed.

Parked up the fire-road away from the VC, Mrs was happy to look at the view, have a kip, walk the dogs around a bit.

I got to have a blast on the Verderers’ trail for the first time, would have preferred off-piste but time was limited, not too bad a trail. A couple of times got stuck behind families blocking the whole trail but nothing to get too upset about – pretty sure I get in the way of faster riders too.

Anybody know if Gunter Murphy’s is still going?

If it’s the Irish bar in the University part of the town, it was a couple of years ago.

We’re off next year for our 50th, can’t wait, we’re going in June because the last time we went in March they had a couple of foot fall on the Friday.

The Hofbrauhaus was amazing, can recommend the Spetzle.
