Are there any direction (words) style maps that I can use?

    Have a look here – http://www.theedgecycleworks.com/mtb-route-search-results/

You know when a guitarist is really good, when you can tell who it is from the first few notes, despite having never heard a particular song before.

Don’t forget tone, Rory Gallagher and Dave Gilmour play Strat’s but achieved completely different sound.

Nope, never – would be the start of the slippery slope.

Next up would be a roadworthiness test (fee payable),third party insurance, then licence to ride on the road.

Just be a money spinning exercise and car drivers would claim they pay more than cyclists.

Love the line “Tell me if it’s deep, don’t worry I’ll see it for myself.”

Enjoy 4th spot this season Spurs

It’ll be interesting to see how they do this season, I’m not holding out a lot of hope for them ATM.

    Thanks for the tips.

Main thing at the moment is to build endurance and stamina, so swimming I’ve slowed down to concentrate on my technique and started running gently on softer ground.

Bredon is nearby, I’d pop over there personally – trails will be nice and dry atm, and navigation isn’t too difficult.

Doing Upton because it’s just down the road from me in Malvern.

Not bothering with tri-bars or any other tri-specific kit other than maybe a pair of shorts, heard the pad dries quicker.

    Will consider elastic laces however.

Brick sessions now don’t sound so intimidating.

The words “Brick session” looks worrying. 8O

    What distance is Upton?

    Distances involved –

    1.5k Swim
    40k Bike ride
    10k Run

Penhydd was my favourite trail at Afan, could do it two or three times a day and never get bored.

Used to do Penhydd then take Mrs, who’d waited patiently for me in car with the dogs, up to Glyncorrwg cafe for Welsh Rarebit… aah happy days.

Trails on the otherside of the valley were quite dull in comparison.

Is this the “At the time I shouted loudest, bullied everyone into believing me, but I did actually lie and it’s all your fault” defence?

^true, Jimster, but I’ve never suffered with iTunes (like I have with tubeless!) so don’t understand what it is, specifically, that people hate about it. I don’t expect everyone to like it, but I’m surprised by how many people proclaim to hate it.

Perhaps it’s just the Apple marketing model – we provide the players, you can buy the music from us on-line. Try and use a different player with i-tunes can prove problematic…

FWIW I tend to use the Spotify app on my phone, great little tool.

Malvern’s seem to be Giant, Spesh, Trek and On-One.

Malvern’s answer to Rick Wakeman perusing his Bentley’s – Stoner deciding which On-One to ride. :D

Toying with having a word at Malvern Cycles to try a BH Lynx.

Is this is bit like the debate over tubeless tyres? For every person who gets along fine with it there seems to be another who hates it. I’ve never truly understood why

Can’t please all the people all the time, two sides to every story and all that sort of malarkey.

    Back-on-track – I personally rate Phillips Go-gear mp3 players.

cheers all, there’s a cool independent guitar shop just down the street from me, who also teaches, I think I’ll have a chat with him too

    That’s probably the best bet.

Definately recommend Justin Guitar too, he has some good exercises on there that do make a difference and video’s supporting the lessons.

Wifey, who works in the prosecution side of the legal profession, commented on this on when the story broke on Sunday saying “He’s talking crap here, paedo’s(sp) share images/video’s amongst themselves and use key words.”

Oh give over, he’s had his restaurant there for about 40 years.

And the Deli, Rick’s Fish & Chip Shop, the cafe, the gift shop, 3 different restaurant’s.

The Cornish Arms is in St.Merryn, couple of miles outside Padstow, £8.50 for a glass of wine is a rip-off IMO.

Can’t stand the fella – not that he’ll lose any sleep over it I’m sure.

He’s helped to ruin Padstow, his pub is a rip-off (£8.50 for a large glass of wine).

Really getting excited now, was there much rain down there yesterday?

The deluge the Beeb were forecasting up here was a light shower in the early hours of the morning.

Better get on with the hoovering/toilet scrubbing/dusting so the Mrs wont know I’ve spent half the day in front of the TdF when she comes home

Nice to see who wears the trousers in Chez Stoner. 8O

After performance in Giro TTT, I think Sky will be up there, and they can afford to spit Geraint out the back.

Led Zep? If Robert can be persuaded and Jimmy can still stand up. Can’t think of anybody else.

Think I read somewhere that he was free next year and could be tempted to do something along these lines – but then according to another source it’s a non-starter as he’ll miss Bonzo too much.

Haven’t done it myself, but have a look at the Silverstone marshalling page[/url].

You probably have to do so many club events before being let out on the biggie.

My next step is to take voluntary redundancy and leave the country

CS dept where Mrs J works didn’t offer redundancies, they offered Voluntary Exit Scheme and you got a stupid lump sum to **** off. However it was only given to certain employees, the awkward unmanageable one’s who should have been dismissed on performance, but because the management are weak they used the VES to get rid of those who didn’t work, oh and management who took 6 figure lump sums to get out before the ship sank.

Her office has been relocated to Birmingahm (even though original work station has a lease running for another 10 years!!), employers are paying to transport costs in a lump sum to cover 3 years (to be taxed, reclaimed at origianl lump sum figure, reimbursed to be taxed a second time when they use public transport which will be less than the “loan amount”.

And they are now recruiting those positions that were released a couple of years ago.

With management like this were are well and truly screwed!!

The Nags is around £3.50 a pint, less for some more for others (Bathams.

Bloody wine is a rip-off, £3.50/£4.50 a glass of warm tack, get a bottle of half decent stuff from the shops for that.

    Soda water & lime £1.00 a half

Then they wonder why they’re struggling

I have lost the bug because the waves and conditions are just so inconsistant in the UK, and i want to make the most of my free time.

Can understand where you are coming from on that, last year we had two weeks in Cornwall, most of it was horrible westerly windslop, the one morning when it was off-shore was more than worth it though. :D

I’m looking at getting into kite-surfing, due to UK conditions seeming to favour it more than surfing.

Can’t be doing with all the faff of pumping the kite up, sorting ropes out etc etc – may as well go sailing.

Those Morgan’s do look fun – trouble is at weekend’s the factory has “open” days where you get to pay a fee and drive a Morgan around, the road by us becomes more of a racetrack than at 5pm when everyone’s knocking off! 8O

They do one in a Ford GT40 Gulf paintjob – very classy indeed. 8)
