sorry for the hijack, but on a simular note has anyone ran a road 10 speed chain with the XT setup as I need to replace my 10 speed XT chain and was looking for a cheaper alternative.
PS i’m aware that the inner plate are thinner on the MTB chains.

all i can say is that the mtb 10 speed chains are surposed to be directional, in that the inner plates are thinner .
But that dosen’t mean a ultegra chain won’t work.
    Are they cheaper ?

Not really , if i’m going fast down hill enough to spin out i’m not normally pedaling. If its a long gradual decent where your constantly pedaling then yes ,but i’m not so sure having one more gear in effect would make much difference.
i intend racing this setup in a couple of weeks so that might highlight the lack of gears and if thats the case i’ll just swap the chainring for a 34t and maybe change to a 36t rear when it wears out.

i run a 1×10 setup and at the moment run a 34-12 rear with a 9 speed 32t middleburn chainring. the chain runs fine on the 9 speed chain ring. This seems to give me the gears i need for the area i live in and suffered no lack of gears riding Brechfa a few weeks back.
i use the XT 10 speed rear mech because as i understand it, the cable pull from the lever is different because the rear mech takes a different path while changing due to the linkages on the new 10 speed stuff.
Also the setup is straight forward using all 10 speed stuff.

regards the qr bracket , is there a quick fix to stop the lamp rattling around in the holder. Lamp and holder 1 year old. Other than this little niggle i love exposure lamps + excellent customer service.

    Junkyard,

they are factory hope hoops with Crest rims from Winstanleys.

Right so i need to remove the wheel , rest it on its 20mm adapters and gently apply pressure to the rim and slowly work my way round the rim. Am i correct.

I have got these wheels on my other bike and haven't had this issue. So just wanted to check i wasn't going to meet the Grim Reaper on my next ride.

Have you tried putting a wanted post in the classifieds ?
It's worked for me on several ocassions

    Bigman,
i have done both ghetto and stans. Stans works every time, clean the rim strip and keep using when changing tires. Ghetto works just as well, you may need to be a bit more patient when inflating dependant on tyres used . plus the ghetto tube tends to be a pain when re-using(but alot cheaper = ebay).
you may also need a compressor to get either way seated.

See you saturday on the tranny .
ps i have a compressor

As M6TTF says you can get frame rub when cornering hard. When i took the rear wheel out the inside of the chain stay was showing signs of rub so they got swapped out.

I was there a month ago and did w2 in just over 3 hrs and with Penhydd being closed i was looking at adding skyline or a least part of it to make a full days riding. Is it worth doing some of skyline and using the short cut + whats the final descent like?

i think we must have different hangers in mind .As mines for the EX but it has a threaded lug on it which means it must do up and undo .
Anyone else with any experience with these rear mech hangers??
