i had to add 4 extra links to my setup fom the usual around the big chainring and cassette , otherwise the rear mech was stretch right forward. btw i’m running 32 front 34-11 rear

    right i’ve found the culprit.
i release the rear shock and then systematically loosened each linkage bolt and have found that the rear DW bolt/pivot is whats causing the problem. As soon as its loosened everything is lovely and smooth.
When re torqued the problem reappears. I have tried to regrease this pivot but it seems full. So i shall strip it this week and see what happens.
    cheers guys

    hadge,
i have regreased all the pivot points as you have mentioned. Some took some grease others seamed to be full when i tried to regrease them. According to the Turner website if they are already grease they won’t accept anymore . Is that correct?

    Stanley,
regards the suspension extending the last 5mm, if i cycle the rear suspension and take my weight off the bike as i lift the rear end it extends to full stroke.
I was going to release the shock this evening and cycle the suspension , i’ll report back .

    Hadge,
i have just built one of these up with the same spec as yours , but with a 3x 10 setup. How are you finding running 1x 10?
Also what psi are you running in your forks and shock + your weight as i’m still playing with my settings.

    Only float fluid.
The Crude oil is resevred for the bedroom

The scratch has been filled out with nail polish and rubbed back down so it can’t be felt out all, which is the standard STW format. It also never leaked oil previuos to the service and the scratch was already there.

what would you recommend to make an up and over door more secure?

I am running a 9 spd sram 971 on my 1×10 setup with no issue and have also used the 9 spd sram power link on a shiamo xt 10 spd chain without a hitch.

i’m using a Surly stainless 9 spd ring on the front on my 1×10 456 ti with a sram pc971 chain with no noticable difference,(compared to the previous 10 spd shimano chain) in changing or intital setup + its cheaper.

if you don’t mind the walk thats fair enough. Just stay on the road that the Etaps on and it’ll lead your to the town centre IIRC. About 5 mins by car.

i stayed at a pikey Etap just off the motor in Albertville last year.
if its the same one that looks like its on an industrial site theres a cheap and cheerfull restaruant next door. Failing that if your not drinking drive into the town centre ,Approx 1 mile, where there’s alot of pizza and pasta restuarants plus bars.
If you want really cheap look for the transit style vans near Etap with real wood pizza ovens in. a health and safety nightmare. 8O

I have fitted a Sram pc971 on my 1×10 shimano setup. After a small amount of adjustment on the rear mech it seems to work quite nicely on the bike stand. I’ve also ridden it around the block flicking up and down the gears and it seems fine, no real noticable difference.
i shall put it through it paces off road tomorrow evening and report back again.

    njee,
I have a few spare sram 9 speed chains in the garage. I shall dig one out and give it ago, as long as it doesn’t skip i should be good to go.
    I’ll report back .

    cheers Njee.

which of the sram 10 speed chains are mtb specific?

    jimr80

i was told its to do with the rear mech linkage and that its slight different to the 9 speed mech , hence different pull ratio.
but try it and report back.
