No. If they’re a proper builder then they’ll have a trade account with a few builder’s merchants. That means they get at least one month’s credit before they have to pay for material’s. I personally have never asked for money up front on any of my job’s

I was plastering a house in Scruton last week and they kept flying over. The noise they make is unique. I can only imagine the terror they instill on a battlefield

Head to Hutton village near Guisborough on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. There’s usually quite a few biker’s around there who I’m sure, wouldn’t mind showing you around. I’m up there myself on Monday night but I normally start from Great Ayton.

Just got mine back from sram with the same issue. It was on a Transition Patrol and six month’s old. They charged me over a £100 saying it was a maintenance issue. I paid under protest because I needed the bike back quickly and I’m tying to appeal but so far no luck. Sram haven’t had the decency to reply to my emails. I ride regularly with four other guy’s. Three of us have bike’s less than one year old with monarch rc3’s and everyone’s has had seal issues. I’m the only one that hasn’t been sorted under warranty. Not a happy bunny with sram at the moment.

If the plaster is live you really should take it back to the brickwork and replaster. Gypsum plaster will be fine or even dot and dab a plasterboard and skim that.
The important bit is finding where the damp is coming from and fixing that. It might be from the guttering , a downpipe or badly fitted windows and cills.
To make certain the damp doesn’t return you can apply a tanking slurry coat on the bricks and plaster with sovereign renovating plaster. I use sovereign K 11 powder mixed with SBR for the tanking but you can get cheaper system’s

Sorry sharkbait but it shouldn’t have taken two plasterers that long to overboard and skim one ceiling. 36m2 isn’t that big. No wonder they traveled that distance , easy money.

I think they’re both taking the piss but if you want my opinion, go for the £500 quote and take the risk. Being expensive doesn’t guarantee quality in this game I’m afraid

£85 for materials and two very easy day’s for one man, so £500 sound’s spot on. Shame I live in Teesside

I’ve built up my customer base from recommendations over the year’s. Plasterers who advertise in the local papers aren’t the best , in my experience. Just keep on asking people you know or work with , and if you can , have a look at some of their work before you let them loose in your own house.

I’m in. Really looking forward to it as well. The trails are all new seeing as the FC wouldn’t let the organisers use the existing trails in Boltby forest itself.

Green plasterboard is moisture resistant and it’s used mainly in bathroom’s so it’s strange to see it in the garage. If you’re pulling down the ceiling under the ensuite then you should replace it with pink plasterboard (fireline) and reused the original insulation. There will be a steel RSJ or catnic lintel spanning across the garage that’s supporting the front wall of the house. As long as that is covered and sealed with pink plasterboard you can leave the space in your photos open and just use kingspan as I mentioned earlier. Hope that makes sense

Sorry, it was too late to edit my advice. I didn’t read your original statement properly OP( slight hangover ). Rockwool over the joists and reboard I’m afraid. I didn’t realise you had already taken down the ceiling

If you’re not bothered about the appearance then just screw sheets of kingspan to the underside of the joist and leave it like that. It doesn’t need to be plasterboarded because there’s no living space above that roof. If you want to keep that space open for storage then cut the kingspan down a fit into the roof making sure you leave a gap of 50mm between the felt and the insulation for air circulation. Again , it doesn’t need to be plasterboarded

I’ve had a Patrol since June and love it . I think it’s perfect for where I ride which is mostly Guisborough and Hamsterley with regular trips to Scotland and the lake’s. Compared to my previous bike’s ( chameleon and pitch ) the patrol climb’s better and descends like a dream. A great all rounder with a bias for downhill.

I’m 48 and this year I’ve done the Hamsterley enduro, the Vallelujah enduro, the whinlatter gravity enduro, the practice day at the king & queen and Ard Rock. It was also my first time in the Alps. Loved every minute of it all and I’m hoping there will be many more year’s like this one

I plaster a lot of kitchens and bathroom’s for a company based in Teesside. One of the best company’s I’ve ever worked for. Their fitters are all top tradesmen who go the extra mile to do a great job. Not the cheapest but they have a great reputation with a lot of repeat customers. Sound’s like you’ve just been unlucky in your choice OP.

Depends on how much work is involved but most bathrooms can be plastered in a day. Expect to pay between £160/£200 labour and £30/£80 material’s

I was forty year’s old and a joiner I was working with on a job in Northallerton talked me into buying a bike so I could join him and his mate’s on their weekly Thur night bike ride. One specialized hard rock later and with minimal preparation I joined them for a loop around Richmond starting in Brompton on Swale. Twenty two miles later we finally got back to the van’s. I was exausted and cramping badly but I was hooked. Can’t get enough now.

I’m meeting a few mate’s on wed evening if you want to join us. Starting from Great Ayton and doing a 20 mile loop. Happy to show you a few cheeky trails. Most of them will be steep and technical. Lights will also be required.

[/quote]anuary is more than 12 weeks away. Try again with 12 weeks to go.

Edit: a fare that has been released 12 weeks out should mean that you could do it for about £22 per person.

Edit 2: have another look at National Rail/train line etc during the week commencing 12 Oct (if I’ve got my calcs correct) and you should see a much cheaper fare available. The problem with those sites is that if you pop a date in that’s more than 12 weeks out, the only fare available is the walk-up fare (I.e. The most expensive one) so that’s what gets displayed

Fair point and I will go back and try again in Oct but to charge £130 return travel off peak on the day is a tad much for what is effectively just two stops.

I was in a similar position to you a few month’s ago. I advertised a 2013 26in Orange 5 on pinkbike and Hamsterley rider’s buy &sell Facebook page.
I had a couple of inquiries but nothing firm so I just waited.
It eventually sold for very close to my asking price by somebody who loved it on first inspection. He was a young lad who had always wanted his dream bike. I think it took him a long time to save up his money.
My point being is that there is still a market for high end 26in bike’s and your’s will sell eventually. Mine took 4 months in the end.
    Good luck

I chose a Transition Patrol from reading reviews, it’s geometry and it’s looks. It helped that it’s suspension set up was similar to my old bike which was a Pitch. I like steep technical trails and the occasional enduro race. Not disappointed at all . Fantastic bike

Self employed plasterer . I’m lucky enough to work for a small group of builder’s , developer’s joiners , kitchen and bathroom fitters who just book me in when they need a plasterer. Most of the time I’m happy but sometimes I wish I’d done better at school 🙁
