It’s finally dried up down here, and now light enough to get a ride in after work without lights.

Purple parking is Holiday extras. They are just a booking service, though good, I use them a lot. Maple Manor are ok, I’ve used them a few times recently, MBW are good, but have put up prices recently. If you are staying over the night before you can get very good hotel and parking deals via Purple Parking/Holiday extras.

It will be fine, 220mm would not have been around when they were certified, the force on the caliper mounts will not change much, you just end up with a longer lever (distance from hub center to caliper) and less clamping force to achieve the same retardation.

He lives round here, I saw him in the pub the other night after a Wednesday night ride, it was 8pm and he was absolutely hammered, seemed quite happy though.

It’s definitely wet down here, I was on a flooded section of trail earlier, looked down and there’s a small Eel swimming along next to me.

I fly to Italy with my bike 3-4 times a year, struggle to keep the Geometron in my Evoc bag under 32kg. The bike, a pair of free rider pro’s, helmet and hip pack come in bang on 31.5.

As above if you are not Silver status or above you get 23kgs, long or short haul, I’ve been silver the last 2 years, but BA have made tier points harder to come by this year and I’m back down to bronze, so I’m booking business class as it’s only £100 more expensive.

£40 there, $100 coming back by the looks of it. https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/British_Airways/baggage.php
That’s on top of the 23kg bag itself.

Our farm yard entrance is about 100 yards up the road from the farmhouse, as young lads me and my brother would often sit on the boot edge with the tailgate up (Subaru estate) legs dangling, one day I thought I could jump out and run in the opposite direction, cue me sitting at the table with my Gramdma and Aunties picking bits of gravel out my face with tweezers for the next hour or so.

Every time she lights up at the back door, ring the front door bell and run away, keep doing it and hopefully you’ll subconsciously train her to smoke out the front instead

That’s another good point above. Whenever I want to ride a random area/country, I search Strava segments and look for the steepest and longest downhills, then filter the top 10 by week or month and you’ll find some good rides.

“I really like Strava. It’s just my favourite social media.

I loved seeing where friends are and what they are doing. No moans or politics.

I’m a geek and love all the numbers. Height gained etc.

Plus it’s a useful planning tool

I do some mild target setting but that would easily be done with a note book”

+1 for this, I’ve used it since 2013 and been naming rides since about 2015 and it’s great to look back through, with the rides named I can remember pretty much all of them, and so many great pictures, to look back on.

Rained off the original 9am start, it finally cleared up around lunchtime, and I started in grey damp skies at 13.00, other than a short drizzly shower 30 minutes in, it stayed dry (in the sky at least)

But she wasn’t at St Andrews, she was practicing at a private facility, probably a load of blokes there wearing jeans or tracksuit bottoms, which would be frowned upon if they turned up to play in at a PGA event.

I broke the end off mine at Ft William in 2021, broke it July 21st and put in a cast at Ft William hospital then 3 weeks later had it nailed back on in Poole, then in a cast for 6 weeks.
As soon as it was out the cast, I had no physio (wait was 6 weeks!) and just kept stretching it and moving it as much as possible.
First time back on a bike was just round the block on September 11th, with the odd jaunt up and down the road, then I n September 18th doctor said I could resume gentle cycling, so I did 30 mile, 2500ft XC rode in the Geometron but just pootling downhills, then wheels on the ground XC rides for the next couple of week, followed by decent downhills and wheels off the ground from October 9th and bike park and black runs on October 17th.

I wore elbow pads for the first few rides but ditched them because they rubbed the ends of the pins in my elbow, had he metal work removed end of last summer (off the bike 2 days) and it’s been fine since, just can’t straighten it quite as far as before.

If you book online and directly with the airline you are legally entitled to cancel without charge within 24 hours if the booking, if via a travel agent, even if it’s the airlines own agent like Ba holidays, where you can book flight and hotels/cars etc, the minute you book, you are at the mercy of their t&c’s.

I’d like to know what other forks the reviewer is basing his “best air sprung” fork upon? As “sag point, mid-stroke and end-stroke” are all adjustable on other forks.

I had an free afternoon prior to the weekend and drove over (definitely get a rental car) there to kill time and check it out, it’s a pretty cool place in general and a dam where you can rent kayak’s etc just up the road.

Had a quick chat with them and looked at the trail map, but they have a decent amount of bikes and no need to book, the first Levo I took out seemed close to full power, but the dropper didn’t work properly so took it back, then next ones dropper worked but was lower power, they remove the displays so you can’t log in and adjust anything.

Of all the things I did there, the Camel racing was the most interesting, the races themselves are dull, you can go above the start line, get right next to the track at the start and finish and camels, also completely free.

I did a couple of weekends there in November while on a work trip, and rented bikes from Hubbers at Hatta, glad I was wearing headphones to dampen the rattles from the bikes, they had Levo’s and Stumpjumpers but they got the job done, not cheap and I’d imagine you’d need to remortgage your house to get a proper high end bike.

My 2 rides to give you an idea of what’s there.
