If you can brake without using the front, it’s not steep.

Thanks all, I’ve ridden Wharncliffe quite a few times and enjoy it, but prefer a bigger techy xc ride than winch and plummet at the moment.

Put the broken o ring back on with the split at the bottom, single wrap of ptfe tape, to hold it in place, bit of grease smeared around it, and refit it.

    @oceanskipper it won’t.

Does washing-up liquid damage your vehicle?
We asked Dr Bob Eden BSc MSc PhD MICorr (Member of the Institute of Corrosion) for the truth:

“Washing up liquid does contain a ‘salt’ but this is the active ingredient and should not be confused with road salt.
There is nothing in a washing-up liquid that will exacerbate corrosion – there’s no sodium chloride salt to worry about.
The issue regarding corrosion is the ‘chloride’ bit of the salt. In ‘chloride nests’ at the base of a corrosion pit, the chloride exists as hydrogen chloride, which in damp conditions creates a solution of dilute hydrochloric acid, and it’s this acid that does the damage.
You need to avoid ‘chloride’ from any and all sources, e.g. seawater, road grit and fish & chips (but not washing up liquid). When I wash my aluminium bodied Lea Francis, a dash of Fairy is just fine…”

Exactly, it’s actually better riding up it than down.

It’s a very good route through the Purbecks, but from the Grange arch, the route takes a zig zag road descent, along the road for a bit then into a mild descent with some boggy bits to Nordon farm, it’s got a shop and a couple of Peacocks, It’s a route I used regularly in the opposite direction, to get up on the ridge.

But instead you could add some great views, and a very good descent. Coming to Corfe from the Grange arch, when you get to the road here

    https://maps.app.goo.gl/LZ55YAGyWUwnXfmK7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Instead cross the road and stay on the ridge, up the short climb and you get a great view from the trig point at the top you enter a field as you leave, instead of following the main trail down to the right, head left at 45 degree heading up to the spine of the ridge, you will get to the highest spot as the woods end and a fence starts, (hop over the fence here, otherwise you have 3 gates to get through) )follow the fence line along the ridge then when you get to the small but fully opening gate go through it, stay on the highest bit and you get to the point, then head downhill and left to ride the chalky single track down to the Castle, there’s a footpath to Corfe which you can push/scoot along if there are people about, or nip along the road into Corfe village, Fox inn is the best pub for views if you sit at the end of the garden, and the village Bakery is excellent.

Purbeck section is fine Franks Tank is probably a bit over grown and East Creech to Nordan farm is pretty grotty at the moment, but with the forecast will have dried out by next week, you won’t be able to ride along (not would you want to) unless very early or late in the day.

Use a Stanley blade at 90 degrees to the pad and scrape the surface, then reuse, works far better than sanding.

Start with a stealth add on a popular mtb forum, late at night while the mods are asleep.

I might see how that goes with a Geometron G16 frame 🥷

That should be fine, it was estimated for delivery last Thursday so should turn up early this week, if it’s not here by Thursday, I’ll be pulling the trigger on some cheap 155mm Unite ones anyway.

Bring spd’s if you want them, otherwise it has Vaults, it’s an Airdrop Bitmap with a 170mm AXS Reverb, so should be good unless you are particularly tall or short.

Got back from Italy Thursday night and leaving for Poland Monday, so weekend of family time, did get out last night for a bit though, on what will most likely be my last ever ride on my G16, after 5 years, just over 7000 miles and over a million feet of elevation, I’m picking up a G1 frame Thursday.

SDG are my go to, UK based can do any custom adjustments requested and a lot more durable than the Silk graphics. (Though the thin Silk are probably better if you are putting Invisframe over the top)

Screwfix will have the M4 countersunk machine screws, but you’ll be lucky to get m4 copper washers, unless you have a either a hydraulic or auto parts store that’s open Sundays.

6pm start, 2,250ft of elevation and back before dark with dusty stanchions, can’t complain, though the wind was a little chilly.

Pirelli Scorpion Enduro M front, best tyre I’ve ever had on roots in the wet or dry, less outright grip than a Mary in dirt, but when it breakaway it drifts beautifully rather than letting go.

Pirelli Scorpion DH T rear, very similar to the Betty and DHR 2.
