Sad that he died. I was worried that Wilko had gone into administration.

I don’t think those pedals would ride well when not clipped in. The mechanism sticks out too much, and you’d end up clipped in. I ride one sided pedals – flat on one side, SPDs on the other – Funn Mamba One and some O’Neal Pinned SPD shoes. They grip well without being clipped in, then you can spin them and clip in very easily. I actually find its the best of both.

Weirdly, this came up 5 weeks ago on the BBC about this path:

Youtube will pay Youtubers every time someone watches a video, once they have 1000 subscribers. Its why there’s so much rubbish on Youtube – anyone can get paid

I live in Backwell, North Somerset and commute to Lawrence Hill (right by Barton Hill) via bike, its a great ride, mostly on cycle path. But the best bit is, there’s a train station at Lawrence Hill which is surprisingly well connected – consider that when choosing.

Why has no one mentioned that an aluminium hardtail costs £3k? (-:

Whatever you decide to go for, ensure you find someone with a Bluelight card to get you a discount at the Garmin online store. I got £80 off an Instinct just by using the discount, and free 24 hour delivery

Dry bag on bars and a hip pack. But as said above- you don’t need to take much if you’re staying in B&B. This style used to be called “credit card touring”

Loads of shots of people frowning out of windows. Lots of grey skies.

I can’t believe it took until page 2 to mention On One 456. I loved my carbon version, still got it, so light, but could bash it about

Weirdly, since I’ve been working at home during COVID, my bad eyestrain/headaches have gone, completely, despite working harder due to the effect COVID had on the organisation I work for.

It turns out that it was due to my office desk being right by a big window. I only found out when I moved my home office desk away from the window and my eyestrain headaches disappeared instantly.

The eyestrain and headaches were so bad and made me want to go to bed at 8pm. Maybe it was a migraine.

    Bloody game changer.

As background, nutritionist is a non-protected title in Britain, so ANYONE can use it.

Dietician is the only term in Britain which actually confirms the practitioner has proper training. They usually work for NHS though.

“You can supervise someone from your household or support bubble during an essential journey during the national lockdown.”

not vague at all- it’s explicit- “someone from your household or support bubble”

Guidance has changed as of this eve- practice on an essential journey is now allowed

No not a proper Xc race bike, just something to get her out on a bit more than canal tow paths. Probably not worried about a dropper.

Tyres are a consideration, but first off is the frame.

How would a medium Inbred or 456 work for a 6 footer as a pump track bike?

Any carbon seatpost will be more flexi. I had a 27.3 giant one- it was so comfortable. I will recreate it on my next road bike

Dhb at Wiggle is good value and good quality. ISOBAA at Sport spursuit is not as good and bobbles quickly.

5plus, yeah there have been many TT bikes for kids- this Amazon one is a direct copy of the Shotgun one

i’ve clamped it on my carbon Jeffsy and a steel frame too, not problems what so ever, it doesn’t even mark the frame in any way, and the clamping force is minimal.

Hi Limbo, sorry, I didn’t mean the original was a rip off in that sense, I meant that the copy is a “rip off” in terms of the fact that they have copied the Shotgun.

I think the materials grade is as good- quality bolts- same as Kids ride. The rubber between the main two pieces of steel and the bike is possibly even better quality than the original.

the finish on the seat clamp assembly is slightly worse.

    otherwise a very faithful copy

Yeah DHB merino is quality stuff for sure. I’ve had both, and many other merino things and DHB is up there.

I’d be surprised if that Skunk lock was legal in Uk. Even with warnings I don’t think its legal to assault people in such a way. I’m not making a moral judgement by the way, but I understand the law does not allow such things.

On the point about people asking to avoid BSOs, we bought an AquaMarina board, maybe a Fusion, 4 summers ago, and its been great. It was around £300 and came with everything you needed. We’ve used it loads and its super rigid. The mrs and I use it on rivers, lakes and in the sea, and can’t see any difference between that and a Red rental board. It seems to be built well.

The British Rubber Manufacturers association says:

“BRMA members strongly recommend that unused tyres should not be put into service if they are over 6 years old”

    jimilindley

Unused tyres are at more risk of Ozone degradation (the actual main cause of the tyre cracks) because when tyres are used, the constant flexing of the tyre causes protective waxes to come to the surface to inhibit the Ozone attack. When the tyres are not used, the ozone is more likely to damage the tyres:

    http://www.sasolwax.com/products-applications/paraffin-waxes/rubber-and-tire/

Tyres that have been sitting around are more likely to crack or fail completely

Yeah can anyone review the Oxford one for slopey top tubes?

Looks like it fits a flattish one easily. £120 for the SHotgun is a lot – but I’ve had a go on a mate’s and it is very good. But if I can get an Oxford one for £50 or less, I’d be happier.

    Any info gratefully received.

Yeah- I’ve tried them- fiddly at time- as you saying finding the right side, but worth it- I think.

ive got the touring version of the Shimano 500s above- with no pins- they’re ok, but no grip without pins on the non spd side.

the 8000s look good- I’ll do a price check- are they heavy?
