Not sure how anything can cost £5.50 for Royal Mail 2nd Recorded, as the most it will ever cost is £3.58, as you can’t go over 1kg.

The shifters should weight no more than 600g with packaging, so you are only looking at £4.40, even being generous with say a £1 for packaging you are only looking at £5.40 max.

Have sent loads of packages to Spain with no issues; it normally adds £1.00 over the cost of a UK 2nd recorded to 1Kg, but if I was looking at an auction with that postage, would walk away, due to it being excessive.

    I like Schwalbe Dureme http://www.schwalbe.co.uk/c2-1277-schwalbe-tires-marathon-dureme.html

Currently have these in 35c fitted to my Vaya, if looking for a more off road tire, would look at the Marathon Extreme, got my Dureme’s from Rose http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/schwalbe-marathon-dureme-evo-hd-ceramic/aid:409204

Saying that have off gone off for a few miles (by accident) on 23c Ultremo’s in the dry, and they worked well 😛

What is it with servicing XT hubs all the time, am running an XT / 217 SUP wheel rear had build in 96, never serviced, still running fine, thinking the rim will give out before the hub.

Can’t be an real MTB, as Range Rovers (Tata’s) always have big lo pro’s and are lowered, blacked out windows and never see mud.

thinking 29er with the biggest deep v rims you can get + v-brakes, components looking bling but is really cheap and looks totally wrong in every aspect, and made by Tata

Would only look good it has petrol is on the outside, with a zippo ready to ignite it

Yep, Fattrax havn’t done anything for the average rider, never have come across anyone policing the area tho, more likly to see Digger’s running round (Aussie soliders from the local base)

Last time I was there in the Autumn, the red & blue routes were there just, but they do need a lot of repair to the signage unless you know the area

I’ve been riding on and off at Chicksands since ’94, my issue with paying for it, that the year I did, it took them 6 months to send a response for my sub, then no request for renewal or anything else, if they can’t be bothered to collect, why pay? also, the XC course which is my interest was trashed by wood felling a few years a go, an is still nothing to what it was.

I get on ok with Fizik Arione & Pave for up to 6 hrs, have used a Selle San Marco Rolls for 13 hours in the saddle with no pain, worth using Chamois cream / Butter as well

That Ultraflate holder takes threaded or un-threaded, I have one, and use which ever cartridge I pick up first. The 16g does a road 23/25mm tire to hard say 90psi ish, have only used on MTB on a 2.1 tire; which felt like about 30-35 psi, so would say you need 2 x 12g or 1.5 x 16g for a 2.35.

Just remember the cartridges freeze during use, so wear thick full finger gloves, or use a holder, like the Ultraflate http://www.tyreinflators.co.uk/innovations-tyre-inflators/innovations-ultraflate-plus-inc-1x16gm-uses-only-innovations-brand-co2/prod_565.html?category=8

Check out the Road forums on Bikeforums.net, but be prepard to only show photos of your bike against a white garage door, with the cranks horizontal.

Nice Spesh anyway, it will probably take a few rides to find out what position every thing should be in, it’s got to be comfortable to you, not conform to what everybody else thinks it should be

You need to sort out you tires as well, the logo should always be over the valve hole, looks right, and also helps if trying to locate a hole if punctured.

If you are fitting to a new road frame, can you not use the caliper bolt to mount on?, alternatively use Raceblades

For the forks, Exotic Alu or Carbon forks, the simplest thing it to buy a new fork with eyelets; I’m using an Alpina fork, also ones are available from Deda and others, P-clips are good for rear stays, not sure there is enough to grip on a fork, as most carbon ones are sculptured.

The sooner road as well as CX bikes go hydraulic discs the better, better stopping, look better, it will be driven by what the pro ride, would expect (hope) by 2013 Shimano will be testing, production in 2014, as doubt they will do much before the Olympics, althouth this could also be where they do inovate.

Looks very nice, but surely the big question is how soon will it be pulled down, the day after the Olympics finishes? will need to make way for more soccer staduims? cos we need more of them; or can they play soccer on that curved surface?

+1 for Look KEO, Ribble is normally cheapest for these, £32 for easy, £46 for Classic (this has the Bi-material anti-slip cleat)

Your left shifter is for the front mech, would look for one of these on e-bay. If changing from 9-10, it gets expensive very quickly, cheapest would probably to get a full 105 /5600 groupset from Merlin @ £360 for the STI, rear mech, chainset & chain, and sell the rest if not needed (Brakes & Front mech). with any road kit upgrade, the STI is normally the most expensive part.

Not sure where you will get your 9sp for £100, as 9spd Tiagra STI’s go for £130, but have seen this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Shimano-DuraAce-Left-hand-only-STI-/260738136634?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3cb5343a3a

Looking at the tool kit from Halfords, it’s pretty generic, and has things like headset wreches you wont need, and no tools HTII Bottom Brackets

anything by Park, Shimano, Cyclus are good, if you buy cheap, you will only replace with higher quality later.

If you want everything in one go, look at something like the Park Starter Tool kit (CRC @ £89), but probably easier to buy what you need as you needs it.

If you can’t fit Discs, which are the preferred option, Magura HS33’s are a good alternative over V-brakes. Have been running the Front Disc (Shimano LX/XT) & HS33 2011 model rear on rigid for the last few weeks in very muddy conditions, and the pad wear hasn’t been much worse on the HS33’s than on the disc.

Looking at the NX 8.1, realistically, your best option would be to either live with the brake wear, or save up and get a new bike, as putting money into the NX 8.1 will false economy.

Bikes have moved on since that was released. For the cost of replacing the fork & brakes with mid level ones, you could almost get a new (last years model) bike, take a look at places like Pauls Cycles for an idea of what there is around

Have done a 100 & 200km Audaxes so far this year, with another 3 x 200 before the end of this month.

So far the most important thinks I have found are

Short – make sure the are comfortable + Chamois cream (or similar)

Other clothing, does it fit, do you have enough cold weather / rainproof gear

Bike – 100 miles + will bring out any weaknesses, are you gears working, lights, bolts etc – make sure you do a shake-down ride before.

Spares – as above, useful to carry some bolts, zip ties maybe even a spare tire

Food – this is where I find I need to improve on eating during the ride

Recovery – it’s a good excuse to pig out the next day

If you have got the above done the ride will be the easy part

The Kaf is great as a communter, but if I changed mine, I would want discs, the only problem with this, is the big increase in price, like the Tripster or Salsa Vaya. The Vaya is designed exactly for this (tour/ fireroad/ mulit use) , also, with the Kaf, you are more limted on the tire size than a Vaya.

If CRC wasn’t here, someone else would be, there is pretty good competition at the moment in the market, Merlin, Woolly Hat, Ribble, Rutland + many other & loads on e-bay.

Remember, CRC started as a LBS, and took opportunites / risks, they were successful, many other haven’t been. good for them.

Also, if you look at Mavic product’s, they can’t sell them out of the EU, so even they have some restrictions to live with.

    Happy customer here

Have been using if for a few days now, no real issues with it yet, but it doesn’t like IMBD, this was always crashing using IE8, and still does on 9.
I mix using Firefox & Chrome, none are perfect, but do like the latest Firefox 4 Beta, much better than 3

Last time I saw her on TV, she was presenting the MOBO awards. This was a few years a go while channel hopping, never want to her again on TV or anywhere ever.

On another subject, bit lob-sided there! She need a better brassiere or even just to wear one.

Thread resurrection, but no one seemed to know of an answer 6 months ago, and I am looking for an alternative now.

Am looking for a bolt + snap ring to replace the standard split pin, have tried using one from an M775 but it didn’t fit.

    Thanks

Looks pretty good, I’ve been using this for the last year or so http://lenni.info/edd/ interesting that there is a difference between them, have tried a few wheels inc ones I have built, and there is a 1mm difference between the caculators, the Prowheelbuilder being longer

much as love Oakley glasses, if they don’t want these seconds to be sold, as it doesn’t seem to fit their business model, they should destroy them at the factory, rather than let them get in to the supply chain.

    tempted by another Jawbones tho

Of all the Planet X kit I own, the wheels are the only thing I wouldn’t consider buying again, have had 2 set of B’s, and I bent one rim on a kerb which I have hit with other wheels loads of times with no damage, and both freehubs were made out of a very soft alloy, which the cassette liked to mould arroud itself. Another (think model C) set which came on a bike went straight on e-bay.

Currently use / used Shimano RS10, RS20 & Fulcrum 5 & 7, and apart from snapping spokes on an RS10 due to being heavily overloaded (using it for supermarket shopping trips on my Kaffenback), have not had problems with any of them.

for Rose good prices but, they have manage to make a hash of the payment processing on some of my orders recently.

I have only done up to 200km rides so far, so can’t comment of the 300+ yet. Am currently using a Planet X Ti Sportive, which is very comfortable, also have a Salsa Vaya which is almost finished which I am planning for longer distance. what ever you get makesure it has mudguard mounts on the frame and forks, and if doing 200km + a dynamo powered light is really useful.

On the ride I did a few weeks ago, most were on steel framed bikes, followed by Alu, Carbon & Ti, SON dynamo hub’s far outnumbered Shimano, also mixed in were few single speeds & a folder, so anything goes really.

If you are using Royal Mail for post, remember they operate Pricing In Portion, I send lots of little packages out, and use boxes which fit into the PIP sizing for Large Letter, saves a lot paying Large Letter rate not packet, for small items, I use http://www.defendapack.co.uk/pricing_in_proportion_boxes.htm
