Oh, and you don’t find ‘gentleman’s periodicals’ in hedges anymore!

They seem to be in the gutters in increacing numbers on my rides, always in too much of a hurry to stop for them.

Southland is back for Season 4 , it got canceled after season 1, and was picked up by another network(TNT), season 3 was one of the best things on TV earlier this year, definatly not done on the cheap.

Going back to the 90’s Homicide Life on the Streets was a great show also set in Baltimore.

Techdocs are your friend for any Shimano part or how to, if you ever break anything, give the Y code to your LBS, and they should be able to get any part you need.

Pompino, Kaffenback, Roadrat, Boardman or just trawl through the bikes till you find what you want

Can’t find much info for the M4451, it looks to be a post mount, if so, then you need a 180mm Post to Post mount, like this

If the caliper is International Standard, then it would be a IS to 180 adaptor

Illustrations of both are on the link, the M485 looks similar to the M4451

Without knowing the fork / brake set up you have currently, no one can answer that accuratly. Post up what fork / caliper you have then advise can be given

For Centerlock or not, you can get adaptors to convert to 6 bolt, but these cost almost as much as a new rotor on their own.

Sounds like a centerlock, all you need is this

    or

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=1056

Or the same tool from any other manufacture

Ortlieb or Vaude, you get what you pay for.

I had some DHB(Wiggle) ones a few years ago, cheap and well made, and no longer available, the EBC ones are similar to these, but last time I looked, had had some changes, in the strap area, and didn’t look as strong.

Cheap ones generally just won’t last or will not be very waterproof; however Lidl & Aldi do tend to disprove this.

Stoke’s not that bad, got some decent bike shops in and around, and it only takes a few minutes to drive through, and the road thou it, means you don’t see much of it 😀

I reckon Milton Keynes should get an honourable mention

Mavic XC717, works fine for me at 95kg, 92 now, so probably 95 with kit.

CRC – Good if paypal, but getting expensive & slow dispatch compared to the the past + Quidco
Merlin – Good, Cheap, not great selection, v fast delivery
Ribble – can be very cheap, slow dispatch
Wiggle – expensive, but quick delivery + Quidco
Woolyhat – limited selction, quick & very cheap
Evans – retail normally, good for sale items + Quidco
Rose – after a few teething issues with them, extremly quick, quciker than CRC, can be very cheap if you want German parts
One-On – don’t use on-line anymore as close enough for to me to ride to them, but when have used on line, have been quick & cheap

Nice to look at, but with a freehub made of cheese, over the last few years have put in a lot of miles with bugdet rims communting.

Between the Model B (freehub gouging, bent rims), Shimano RS10’s (breaking spokes) and Fulcrum 7’s, would go for the Fulcrum 7’s, as have found these to last the longest, only a car vs bike managed to damage the rear.

Went there for the first time last week, FS with 105mm front, 90mm rear and SPD’s no problem for this on the red routes

Either of what you have should be fine

I carry both, have a Blackburn Carbon Airstick, and a Genuine Innovations CO2 pump.

    http://www.genuineinnovations.com/custom-valve-technology/valve-technologies/ultraflate-plus-kit.html

Went for this, as it takes threaded & threadless cartridges (I get what ever is cheapest).

Would carry both, as it’s worth pumping the tire a little to get it seated correctly before using gas.

Have found that the CO2 will be good for 7-8 hours / 125-150 KM before you need to be careful with pinch flats due to the CO2 leaching out and pressure loss.

Would be very supprised if DI2 wasn’t offered with the 6800 Groupset, would guess this would be for 2013, being avalible mid 2012, with 5800 in 2014-2015.

For fitting, would suspect most high end bikes in the next few years will be DI2 ready, making it easier to fit than retro fit onto an old frame.

+1 for Cyclestore, and very quick delivery.

Have been using Jawbones since January, when it’s dry their great, even better than Radars, when it’s damp / misty, they are next to useless (using photo-chromatic lens), as they mist far too quicky, but have had problems with M Frames and Radar’s in similar conditions.

A good thing with the Photo-chromatic lens is, it can be used all day, and night, so you don’t need to carry multiple lenes or frames

The lens change system is a major improvement over Radars and M Frames, but there is the loss of peripheral vision when checking behind.

That’s massive, hope you have a big shed, where would you get spares like the tire from, as it would have to be custom? Also, most of the other parts look as though they need refurbishing.

It’s a lot of money for a museum piece, which is in pretty poor condition, as a bike it isn’t really fit for modern roads or traffic conditions and needs repair, that it’s being sold broken says something, like there may be more problems to come.

Not unless you know what your doing, try it, and you will find there are far too many tiny parts to ever get back together again and in the right order.

Would imagine that it would be a lot cheaper to replace with a new one, rather than get this one stripped & serviced.

Nothing wrong with the Planet X Sl Pro, had one for a couple of years now, and it’s very fast & comfortable, never felt any flex with it.

Planet X are now based in Rotherham (really almost in Sheffield, just off the M1 about 5 mins from Meadowhall) now, they moved from Doncaster about a year – 18 months ago.

It’s worth it is you can’t get it over here, doubt you will find any huge saving for common stuff like Shimano, but for things made in USA or US brands, there will probably be a saving, would always check out the prices here first.

When I was last over, I tried to get unique stuff, like LBS socks.

remember the warranty issue, or lack of for expensive kit you buy out of the EU

CF quality for bikes may be poor compaired to the Aerospace industry, but then was the last time you saw a bike fly like the Dreamliner?

Would not ride that till replaced, as it will no doubt go bang in the middle of nowhere

Rigida Sputnik seem like a good choice for replacement, they are 600 ERD, same as the TK; Mavic 319’s are 604.5 so would need new spokes.

Right application it’s great, wrong its not. wouldn’t trust it on MTB rims or saddles, but anywhere else can’t get enough; never had a part fail on me yet 🙂

Fords do seem to have issues with rust, check out just about any of the first gen KA, and almost all will have rust issues, the area around the filler cap seems to be a favorite along with the sils. Also Mercedes E Class have major issues from their cost cutting days

Low end team replica, from the mid 90’s as still has canti’s, but aboslutly nothing special; all low end groupset and generic crank.

Saying that it’s the ride not the bike that matters 😀

Take it you mean the Respro masks, if so, No.

Tried one of these years ago, and the design doesn’t look to have changed, all it did was make it harder to breath (resistance), and I sweated a lot more.

Best bet is to stay away from vehicles (mainly Deisel) pumping out black smoke, esp buses & trucks, but the newer the vehicle, the less they seem to put out.

You would have thought they could have made a fancy Carbon Fiber stand, rather than the generic steel one used.

What tubes are you using, if latex, yes they leak loads, if standard butyl, these lead at a slower rate.

What are you filling them with, CO2 (i.e. from cartridges) leaks much quicker than regular air.

How long between rides, all tubes will loose pressure, and the higher the start pressure is, the more noticeable. If they are going totally flat, you probably have a slow puncture or leaking valve, if going from say 100psi down to 80psi over a few days, that’s pretty normal.

When road riding, would expect to top up the tires if had had more than a few days between rides.

Take it they are M485’s. Can’t see why you can’t replace the lever with any from the Shimano range, as the techdocs indicate the lever is a totally seperate item, would go with what ever I could get cheapest

Currently using a Sugoi Subzero skull cap when it’s cold and wet, it is awsome for keeping my head warm & dry even when raining hard; got mine in Las Vegas a few years a go, don’t know where over here to get them.

Not convinced with Rock N Roll Extreme, yes it works well, but have found it to be very thin, one squirt empted half the bottle on first use, wasn’t expecting that, also, it’s also a pain to remove afterwards.

Prefer Finish Line WET for the winter, but as others have said it does get gunky.

Will be looking for a ligher oil for the summer, once I’ve used the bottles of WET I have.

Possibly but no pedals, which would have thought would have been left on if nicked,.

Not sure what the problem with mentioning the botte cages is + you have to start somewhere on ebay, but selling bikes with low feedback is not the best way.

No size listed, but it was posted using the mobile app, which always seems to produce useless listings

It’s way over priced for the last years model, would have thought 400 max, + what is up with the saddle???

If you wan’t one with even less feedback, try this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/trek-1-5-alpha-2010-road-bike-/190511997310?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item2c5b66617e

I got mine from Rose, as they were the only people with the 2011 versions in, back in November, also they are the folding version, most of the ones you see in the UK for the same price are steel bead.

Although Rose managed to make a mess of my last order, would order from them again, they currently have free postage, and seem to be generous with sending out vouchers.

For going off road on a 23mm, I only did this as I ended up on a trail I couldn’t get off, would want at least 28mm if planning for any dirt, 35mm+ if carrying panniers.

If looking for something cheap, what about these http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TYSCSAMSW/schwalbe-sammy-slick-wired-tyre @ £9.99

Another good place to look and get some ideas on what people have used successfully is http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/
