It’s a folder, peoples expectations of what a folder should be is different to a normal bike.

Add to that, it’s a Dahon clone, so is going to be low spec (patents come into issue here), especially for the price, it’s not cheap, but cheaper than a Dahon

For the Taiwan thing, doesn’t matter which country you look at, all can product great or bad products, it’s all down to cost.

Nice if you need a good traveling tool kit, or are starting out, if you already have a selection of tools & storage, then probably not a such good value.

2.5 years or so, thats easily over 20,000 miles for some people, seems a fair mileage to me.

32000km sounds like a decent life, suspect the arms are pretty worn by now (the current gen of Shimano cranks all seem to get arm wear)

Hope you planning on doing the chain/cassette at the same time.

Your going to need something like a Specialites TA x110, and Spa don’t carry these yet (going on a search of their site)

If your looking at the cost, thinking that if you need to replace the inner & outer, a complete replacement maybe be cheaper, you need to shop around and work it out.

Got to wonder what your doing to need both on what is a fairly new crank, they haven’t been around that long.

    LBS with a Windwave account!

This is how I got a spare FSA crown race a few years back.

Alternatively, look at ebay, there is a 1 1/2″ on there now, you would need to verify the specs

How **** awful. Ruined by tarmac

Depends what you want it for, I could use part of the TPT for my commute, but use the Barnsley canal instead as the surface is much better on that particular almost parallel part.

Can you recommend a carbon rim the same erd / overall width?

Just buy new spokes, trying to get a carbon rim to match your current spokes (ERD) will limit your choice for the minimal cost of new spokes, bit like looking for a new frame which has to fit your old forks (which aren’t tapeed in 2017)

Car discs often need them, not much use for bikes though

Planet X to go bust next year, I reckon.

Would be surprised if they make it till then with the things they have been doing recently.

26″ and almost 7 years old, you may need to manage your exceptions no matter how nice it is.

Whatever your looking at, remember that 6800 is old now (in Shimano terms), and should be replaced next year (and will most likely take a lot of ques from 9000), with 105 in 2018, do you really need an upgrade now, or can wait till the next gen is out?

Chain is a chain, unless it’s a symmetrical road one (like the early 6700’s)

The bike would be OKish if was realistically priced (i.e. move the decimal point back one)

As it is, massively optimistic it will get sold, almost 10 years old, ancient tech, wrong wheel size, large size frame and weird spec.

Doubt it has ever been more off road than a bridleway.

Got mine today, fit just like my Specalized BG in the same size, no Haribo though, have Wiggle stopped giving these out?

Raleigh is a difficult one, good till the 80’s then lost it with the MTB boom, producing lots of low end bikes (there Special Products Division – M-Trax/DynaTech were good, never understood why they got rid of these), still produced low end and lived on the brand name till they were taken over by Accell, who seem to be doing a good job at getting the brand back to being good again.

Have you tried just removing & stripping the cartridge, and replacing the washer, worked for me when I had a leaking tap, much cheaper than replacing the whole cartridge.

Run them with Linux/Ubuntu, currently have an old Dell E6400 (2008 MFD) works fine with this (just install 16.04 LTS last night)

If you want a triple, why not just get a 4703 (Tiagra), effectively all the benefits of the latest 11 speed tech, in a 10 speed package.

For 11 speed triple, Shimano have never offered this, although Campagnolo does

Just to throw another option in, what about Shimano RS505’s, 105 level centerlock hubs, come in 32 & 36 hole options, and come in black

Yes, as it’s the only way to access a cycle track which goes past where I live (joined up thinking by the council and how cycletrack will be used there…)

There are probably minute differences in the shape, the hoods aren’t the same SKU either.

For the hood question, they are the same, the part (Shimano call this the Bracket Covers) is the same for 4700,5800 & 6800, no EV is avaliable for R3000, but suspect this may be the same as well.

The part number is Y00E98080 for black & Y00E98090 for white

For some reason they’re less than half the price I can find them in the uk for

Have you looked on eBay? there is a Polish seller who has Novatec hubs normally cheaper/HTF hubs than UK suppliers, no issues with VAT/Import duty either as they are in the EU.

How old is it? Shimano XTR has a 3 year warranty and this model only came out in 2011, so you still maybe covered.

For repairing Shimano brakes, if you go down this option, look at the Tech Docs[/url] for your brakes, to see what parts are available, normally it’s limited to large assemblies. Any parts can be ordered via your LBS (with a Madison account)

Which Tiagra vs which 105, if 5800 vs 4700, there is no difference (feel wise) between the shifters, both use the same hoods, just the speed, which is the same for the derailuers,

Bit strange offering a bike in 2015 with no DI2 routing options.

For the Tomac brand, this is the 3rd/4th incarnation, they seem to last a few years normally, not too sure why they (PX) are starting your a gravel bike, as Tomac was associated primarily with MTB’s, a little with road cycling, but gravel came about long after he retired (unless you stick a suspension fork on this one).

Would add, if go to Garage Bike (great shop), don’t park in the side street next to them, as you may get ticketed, there’s a free council carpark about a 2 minute walk from them, which your pass if coming from Elland Road direction.

HD said budget, which is what R501’s are, your pushing into mid range territory at the Fulcurn Quattro level, not suggesting in any way that they are bad wheels, far from it, just are a lot more than budget wheels.

    jimc101
    Free Member

Wouldn’t call £225 budget for road wheels, now the Shimano R501’s they have at £68 they have would be more budget, add some tubes & tires would push it to just under £100, and you could get some 25mm Conti Ultra Sport II from them for that.

I don’t know about campag, hardly any bike mfrs spec it.

Decathalon do (B’Twin), and there was Pinarello in my local Halfords last night with a Veloce Groupset, to start you off, can’t get much more mainstream than them. Planet X and Ribble both offer Campag builds

I-Ride and ChickenCycleKit for parts, not exactly hard to find…

Doesn’t matter if they aren’t players in electronic shifting…they invented it and Mavic are still a big player in components/accessories…

Mavic (1992) never invented it, Suntour got there 2 years before (1990) with the BEAST (Browning Electronic AccuShift Transmission) electric shifting

For the budget your looking at, given what you have suggested thinking cup and cone is mainly what’s going to be available, even Fulcrum who used to have cartridge bearing at all levels now have cup and cone at their lower end.

What about Shimano RX31 (105 @ CRC), Centerlock and black, not sure you will find much that isn’t black, and Centerlock is as good, if not easier to use then 6 bolt.

Been with for years via companies they have taken over, apart from one outage a few years back that they were useless about, and lasted a week, no issues.

Got fiber this year as it worked out about £3 more (total) over the 18 month contract to ADSL. No limits on DL, (Sky have 25GB a month, which can be blown in a few hours with fiber), great even if you aren’t a big downloader discount for early payment (you need to keep on top of this)
