Why not inject him with "the lethal injection" and do it the humane way.

killing people as revenge for a crime isn't humane, no matter how painless it is.

Aside from the fact that killing is just plain wrong, there will never be a justice system that is 100% reliable. it will never happen. and therefore, you cannot kill people when there is an element of doubt, however small to their guilt.

I'm sure Derek Bentley's family gains no comfort from his conviction being overturned 45 years after he was hung.

We talk of the guildford 4, but what about the birmingham 6, bridgewater 3, m25 3. judith ward.

too many people would have wound up dead because of an unreliable justice system. You can't say sorry to someone once you've killed them.

no. Death penalty is pure hypocrisy.

It's a cliche, but in a world that takes an eye for an eye, ultimately ends up blind.

    Killing people is wrong.

someone I know who knows quite a bit about these things has said to brace myself for a bigger rise than 2.5% – the moneys got to come from somewhere. and that somewhere is us, for everything we buy.

get one – you really won't believe how much easier it makes your life, and if you treat it right, it'll last for years.

Hope the new drug does the business mate.

IME when trying to get treatment you need, you've got to shout and scream for it (say thanks when you get it), it's really, really hard if being belligerant and a pain in the arse isn't in your nature, but you've got to do what you've got to do.

if it was your kid going through treatment, you would ask every single question and not get fobbed off. don't give up making a fuss – it's the fight in you that's going to get you better.

They say it's the squeeky wheel that gets the oil…..

p.s. didn't say how ace your photos looked – both of you look fantastic. you're also a big bugger – if I was a consultant I'd give you anything you wanted!

Keep chipping away at it mate.

bought some yesterday, wore them last night riding.

Early days, but if they continue to do what they did last night, they are awesome!

it would appear so. how anyone could possibly call that a support without bursting out laughing is beyond me. Exactly WHAT is that supporting?

I actually know it's not an april fool, but it beggars belief that anyone would buy this top end quackery.

Mrs JB Malt I built for her a couple of years back. Excellent bike, I play on it when trying (and failing) to teach myself to wheely.

potentially they could cause themselves physical injury if they had their neck locked to a lamp post. Then you'd have to prove it is self inflicted.

I'd say you'd be better off sitting on them til the fuzz arrived.

I've got some rebas with the spacer taken out taking it to 115, and it handles very well.

The thing you should remember is that the axle to crown length will have the biggest bearing on how it handles, not necessarily the actual fork travel (though the two are related)

    @jimbobrighton

I'll qualify that; the On-One Price:Performance ratio is good. A bit like a standard Ford Focus; it's a good car, but nothing special.

@flamejob Aye, fair point. I'd still say the inbred probably one of the classic bikes of the past 10 years, especially with features like the 5 piece seat stay design which did make it stand out from other hardtails. That, along with the quirky, anarchic(ish) branding and to be fair, brant richards marketing which did give the brand a distinct personality.

I'd agree though that the orange five probably does deserve it – I can't think of any other suspension frame that has changed so little in the past ten years, versus the competition that re-invents the wheel almost every year.

Yeah.. it's got to be the Enduro or Sub/5 for the UK; they stepped up mountain biking.

The main reason people bought on-one's was the price/performance, otherwise there is nothing that great about them

Not sure what else I look for in a bike other than great performance and value. Am I missing something?

I'd have to say, for the amount sold, for simplicity, for accessibility, for fun, for value, for versatility and for general affection held for it and the brand generally, The On-One inbred would have to feature in the bike of the decade running.

I grew up in holmfirth. beautiful, but far from urban.

Huddersfield is alright, plenty of new developments as well, so potential for a nice place to live close to centre of town. Curry and pubs are good, as well as some good theatre stuff (lawrence Batley theatre shows some good stuff, or it did 10 years ago…) and leeds is only a 30 minute train ride away.

If he's really into city life, I'd recommed Leeds – so much going on yet not as sprawled as Manchester. big music scene, big theatre scene, big clubscene.

I'll be staying in brighton though. it's warmer.

Good to See my home of five years, Brighton being so popular, and my home town of holmfirth even getting a mention.

    Brighton
    Bristol
    Fowey (cornwall)
    Woolacombe

No particular order, other than Brighton being the clear winner.

running the scheme in windows usually make it a little easier admin wise for HR and Payroll departments, especially for larger companies.

Likely that your company is signed up to Evans facilitation scheme, Ride2Work the idea being that Evans does a bit of the leg work for the company – hence bikes only to be sourced through Evans – we do a similar thing at CycleSurgery – called Tax Free Cycle.

    Hope that helps.

You'll need a compression joint to connect it to the pipe.

this is part of the shower

OK fair enough – it's knocking on ten years since I did it, but I had to buy a compression joint for the one I put in.

did it at my house when I was at Uni – one of my finer moments as a man.

avoid tiling issues by buying exactly the same unit as before if possible. If not, measure it and find something the same shape/size. Also, take the front off and find out where the water goes into it and find a shower that does the same.
You'll need a compression joint to connect it to the pipe. Wiring wise, it's really not any harder than wiring a plug. However, if you have ANY doubts about your wiring prowess, best get a sparky to do that bit.

I'm not sure these days, but isn't there a law where you have to have an electrician check installations such as showers these days (I won't grass you up though, unless you live in the same block of flats as us!)

I spend far more time riding a bike for commuting than any other form of cycling so makes sense to do it on really nice bikes.

Fair enough, but a £1k bike will still be plenty of bike to manage a regular commute in comfort and also be reliable. The scheme has to work for the masses – it's designed to get people on bikes who wouldn't normally do it.

yes, awesome in the dry, seriously seriously fast, grippy and with plenty of volume so comfy too.

dire in mud though. Mine went into hibernation last night in favour of some spesh enduro pros. which are awesome winter tyres.

    Cycle to Work Guarantee[/url]

    Launched today.

    interesting….

Agree with DT 78, at the end of the day it's a cycle to work scheme, and therefore £1000 is appropriate for this – as a retailer I'd love to sell top end bikes on the scheme, but that's not what it's for…

I spent quite a while the other day explaining this to a chap in the finance sector, and why he couldn't buy a top end tri bike on the scheme.

p.s. public forums not the best place to go on about scheme fiddling!

    thirded houns.

It's not allowed for two reasons. You are supposed to be hiring the bike, if you then purchase part of the bike, it becomes a purchase and is then not eligible for the tax benefit.
The second reason is that it creates a confusion over ownership. The company owns the bike. if you top up, you then effectively own part of the bike, a situation most employers are uncomfortable with as it creates problems should you leave employment etc.

Not only computers for schools – Childcare vouchers are being phased out too, meaning the Cycle to Work scheme is the only real salary sacrifice scheme out there now.

Best not see that one go eh?
