I have a fox lid and mount mine on the very top vent in the middle, no problems with it there…You can ge longer bolts to fit funny shaped helmets, perhaps try that before you change lid? a few quid as an experiment!

based on the deluge we’ve just had, it’ll be slippery. Mud is never that bad. Bring a sense of humour.

Have a look at Richa kit too if you can, its not as good as HG but is/can be bit cheaper, like onzadog Im an instructor and we use alot of it, and it lasts well considering the day in day out all weather punishment it gets. As everyone else has said, whatever you buy, the most important factor is fit. If it dont fit right, it cant do its job properly.

I genuinley dont think either is more dangerous than the other, the common denominator is the rider; its all about attitude, as PP mentioned. The way the cycle or motorcycle is ridden play a key part. The past few motorcycle accidents amongst friends have been caued by car drivers changing position in the road without proper observation. I also think the level of minimum saftey equipment for motorcyclists should be raised; anyone caught riding in shorts and t-shirts should get a fine or something.

I do think though that both methods are alot more vulnerable, not just to other road users but to the amount of road furniture. Someone up there mentioned its not the fall but what you hit that hurts and I agree; I really think all unnecessary barriers etc need to go.

Like most things, some folks take it super serious, some folks don’t give a hoot. I like it as it gives a chance to see where you’re progressing, a bit like the quarter lap checks in motoGP. A little competition that drives us to improve isn’t a bad thing I reckon.

My last student to buy me gifts ( motorcycle, not cars ) brought me some nice Italian beer. It’s usually a box of celebrations or similar.
