Riding my 2Souls QuarterHorse on a bumpy trail ,I became aware of just how smooth it was over rough ground. Then the penny dropped,my Bikeyoke Revive had got a bit of air in it.Giving me about 10 mm of suspension .Fixed it there & then & the ride was back to normal. So I think the components & pressures we use do such a good job of masking what is going on with the frame,it is almost impossible to tell. The good news is that with the wheel & tire sizes available today,we can choose any frame material & make it behave how we want it to.Just need to find out how to get the air back in my dropper post!

If you have the right size tap,you could thread the bush (making sure you do not cut into the pedal body). Then tap them both out.

I use a jubilee clip tightened around the steerer tube & a fine toothed hacksaw.

I agree with Clubby.I too have both.Personally I would get a used Yari & send it off to TF Tuned, for a service & have the Vorsprung conversion fitted to increase the negative air volume.

Hi funkrodent ,I have been thinking of fitting a Bikeyoke Revive to my QH.
Cable routing could go under the leather decal on the down tube,if the dt was protected with helitape first. If I ever do it I will post it up.

That is very interesting.I did not think the 9 speeds came on an alloy carrier.Just checked the spec sheet. It seems Just one model does, the CSM990 9AX.
    Thanks OP.

The big difference between the largest & second largest cog is,on the largest cog the sides of the chain has nothing to rub against.Sorry to ask the obvious ,but are you using a 10 speed chain?

It would be a shame to get rid of your Jones.
Just a thought, ask on here if any one would let you try their Jones with a set of Jones carbon bars.I am told they really take the sting out of bumpy trails.

I always used Hope QR clamps, but if the post is a loose fit they need a huge amount of lever pressure to stop the post slipping. Salsa clamp has a longer lever & is also easier to use. Also the Salsa clamp ,both qr & allen key have a larger clamping area.

How about a Stooge Ti 29er +.I do not own a Stooge but lots of people on here love them. Also custom spec seems to be available.

Hi Coomber,I am long in the leg & short in the body,so TT length is not an issue.Checked the price of the shock & it was £100 more than the complete deal OO is offering.I was just hoping some one had one & could give me some feed back.

If 29er hard tails float your boat,go for the Titus Fireline evo Ti.On One are currently selling the frame for £600.So you get the Ti ride (yes there is a difference) & weight for less than the price of an 853 frame.

The only frame I can think of that ticks all the boxes inc. seat post is the 2Souls QuarterHorse http://www.2soulscycles.com/.
    Pricey though.

For me it would have to be a 2Souls QuarterHorse in Ti with sliding dropouts http://www.2soulscycles.com/index.php/products/quarterhorse-ti .A 120mm Sid with h/b lock out, mostly Hope components & the carbon kevlar rims from http://www.blueflowbikes.com/ I think I would have to remortgage the house though.

Afternoon Alzore.I have owned all three bikes you mentioned. The Switchback is a definite step up from the 26″ BFE. Very confident down hill & lots of fun in the single track.I have ridden it at Swinley & it will not hold you back. The Sherpa rolls a little bit quicker,is also a confident descender& good in the single track, but not as much fun.If you want the best of all worlds get a 2Souls QuarterHorse with 120mm fork.

I owned a Sherpa,it was good through the single track & confidence inspiring down hill. However I could never get the front wheel to pop up over obstacles ,(I admit to poor technique here). How ever I sold the frame & bought a s/h 2Souls Quarterhorse.Night into day.It has all the qualities I liked in the Sherpa plus it is more comfortable & the short chain stays allow me to lift the front wheel over obstacles & it feels much more playful.I built it up single speed with 120mm forks & it weighs 25.8lbs.If there is a disadvantage it is that the medium frame c/w sliding dropouts & 142 x 12 axle weighs 6.3 lbs.The odd thing is I never notice the weight even though the Sherpa was about one pound lighter.
    Hope this is a help.

When the lottery finally stumps up it will be a Funk Cycles frame in 29er version & a Jones Ti with as many bling bits as I can source plus a steel vault to keep them in.

Definitely give these wheels a look.

The carbon Kevlar rims are very tough, built onto Hope hubs & about £675 a pair.
