Worries me as well my son is 15 and is riding on A roads locally. Just have to trust them and brief them on the fact that all drivers are stoopid till proven otherwise ;-)

Three bikes running them, yes a slight pain to tape but not that bad. Bomb proof and a damn site better than the Mavic crossride disks I had on one bike. I’m a bit of a hope hub fan so now all bikes running hope hubs of one sort or the other now…

In a world where all is delivered next day I’m guessing when the rocket comes out, it will be worth the wait ;) in the meantime I’ll be content with my soul 650b….

I’m on my third Skoda…beginning to like them now ;) seriously my first an Octavia was too long for a bloke who hadn’t driven for 15 years (biker). So switched to a yeti, love them…OK styling may not set the world alight but the dealers are great and they are well built….now on my second yeti have yet to find a failing in the latest one.

Why Steel? Just remember my material science stress tests at university ;-) I love the skinny tubes on my rock lobster 853, love the way it actually seems to flex and absorb the trail.

One note I do have I have just built a Cotic Soul 650b and in comparison to the Rock lobster (also 853), I prefer the rock Lobster. I can ride faster on the Cotic which should indicate a flaw in my preference, but I prefer the frame on the Rock lobster, it just feels better. It is probably the fact I’ve had my Rock Lobster for 12 years and it because I’m more used to it. However the stats from my own rides proves the Cotic is better…

    Hi all,

I fairness I purchased a Halfrauds Carrera Kraken for my son thinking it should last the distance/a distance. Within one year the only thing of major significance is the frame & forks ;-( whilst one would think that it was just an upgrade path, I would add that most parts just wore out or broke. In my sons defence he did manage about 2500Km in the last 13 months….I guess Krakens are built to a price and for lighter use ;-)

Had the same I gave up and switched back to Shimano just change the rear derailleur and shifter. Note that the Sram had a problem with their derailleurs and reurn spring it is a known issue so maybe worth looking at…

    Hi all,

I’m on my second Yeti. I read the comments that have been said and note I’m also an ex Octavia owner. I actually found the 2005 Octavia boot not that flexible mainly because of the height. I was initially skeptical about the boot size of the Yeti, but for the three of us and the dog it’s perfect. I do remove seats regularly which is where the dog sits quite happily. this leaves me with the boot to fill ;-) I like actually the fact the boot is square, a main critic of the Octavia. I could fill the Octavia no problem but shutting the boot afterwards was a problem ;-) My main gripe is the parcel shelf, it is fixed I’d prefer a blind type like I had on the Octavia…

So for me the Yeti’s boot being square and tall is better than the long but awkward Octavia…If you want a huge boot I would say look at the Outlander though!!! 4×4 and 600 odd litres, and square like the Yeti ;-)

SRAM I had a problem on two bikes with the derailleur with weak springs…they make great cassettes though!! Anyway hope you’re right about the frame ;) I’m riding an 853 rock lobster so hope it can match that!!!

On the same subject’ish. Has anyone received their discounted Cotic yet? I ordered one but didn’t hear anything? I think they are massively over subbed on these frames..

    Hi all,

My Yeti took myself and my son to Exmoor over the summer we took all the seats out of the back and turned it into a Van. The bikes with the Front wheel removed can stand upright no problem. All the Camping gear primus food the lot….Then best still 43MPG from the 2ltr diesel.

This is my second one not aware of any issues of reliability they are built well and take a pounding. The only gripe if there is one is that all Skoda’s are noisy in the interior and road and engine noise are quite prevalent. I have a friend with a brand new CashCow and even though it is the same size it has nowhere near the space or flexibility. My last one because of VAT changes I practically sold for almost the price I paid for it after 35K miles…

Try for the old shape SE plus they come with satnav and heated seats ;-)

    Hiya,

Get a Skoda Yeti far better….I tested both the Yeti is great cos the seats can be taken out and car turned into Van ;-)

On my Second one no problems so far in 60K of driving them. The 170BHP one very nippy and scares Corsa drivers LOL.
