Wouldn’t a hardtail with SIDs be lighter, or am I missing the point?

If he’s ‘just getting into it’ wouldn’t something more neutral like a trek ht be better for him?

Politics is the business of public affairs according to Aristotle, and the the business of government according to bismark, I prefer Aristotle, he invented the word after all. good to ponder?

a few years ago my brother got their £500 hardtail, can’t think of the name now though. We did a fair bit of shopping about and found none of the other/big brands could match it for the level of kit, rides nice too. Boardman bikes also probably worth a look

Having checked I now know that it is a footpath, thing is other MTBers use it (and equally probably don’t know either). Thing is, this behavior is dangerous and should be stopped. Is going to the police going to get me nowhere (and potentially in trouble too), because I really think some action needs to be taken.

I can’t comment on the others, (and you might be lucky to find someone who has ridden them all) but I can tell you that my best mate recently got a Caldera and loves it. Nice spec, good angles, its been all over our local trails in the chilterns, Afan, peaks and handled it all with aplomb, strong too, he’s not averse to hitting the deck.

Maybe post some links if in depth comments on spec is what you’re after.

    Hope thats of some help

Maxlight xc120, light, 130 fork adjusted, fun to ride (I have one), you could probablt get it built for your budget(frame only) if need be you could always borrow your nomads wheels?

I have one and I love it, it’s recieved most of my riding since buying it. It’s a great general xc bike with 130 revs on the front, light too. Low bb makes it an excellent singletracker. Not much of a jumper messlf so can’t comment there but well pleased otherwise. If you want anything more reply back and I can write more when I’m at a key board (not an iPhone)
