What I’ve never understood about hammerschit is why is it any better then a front mech. I’ve always thought that it’s heavier, got more parts, more friction (probably marginal), coats more and does the same job. Happy to have my assumptions answered though

I used to ride a cake, they’re not uncommon bearings, i went to my local bearing shop (straitline in hemel hempstead) they have them in. You can do it yourself, you just loctite them in or it’s a simple job for a competent mechanic

Go Down your local b&q, you’ll find some eye protection there that just the same as clear bike glasses for a fraction of the cost

Good point, starting in Keswick, planning on doing lonsdale fell, skiddaw, Altura and maybe having a crack at something called borrowdale bash, seems to be a lot if road involved though. Moving on to patterdale area, ullswater, high street and helvellyn. Then down to ambelside, no real plans yet but maybe graburn pass or walna scar. Was thinking about doing nan bled (maybe instead of borrowdale).

I suspect that they’re striking over the proposed changes to pension arrangements (thats not been communicated in this bun fight). Should this be the case then I expect that the teachers (or at least unions) are taking the view that they shouldn’t have their pensions raided so the government can balance it’s books after a recession that they didn’t cause, and that they had an expectation of certain pension arrangements when joining the profession. Agree or not I can understand why they might feel the need to take a stand.
