Mine went well onto my crests too but after a day had gone flat. This happened after a couple of rides to too, but then without having to do anything they stayed up and have remained up ever since. The sealant just needs a bit of time to work sometimes.

How straight have you got your Chainline? How worn are the teeth on the chainring? If these are fine them I’m out of ideas!

I like my Hope one but there are some good ones from velosolo.

GT85 has the effect of actually degreasing your chain. Try it works well in cleaning the chain so as a general lube I wouldn’t recommend it. Car lube!? Big no because unlike motor cycle chains it is not put through the same speed or heat and so as mentioned will pick up all the dirt and clog up your fine and delicate gear mechanisms. Use a good wet lube and then leave it. Before you go riding with a dry cloths take of the oil. All the good bit of oil is in the rollers and pivots of the chain and the outside is now clean and so won’t attract dirt.

Is it the new Scandal? If so it has a tapered head tube. It takes 11/8th top and 11/2 headset. The slack set will not work with a tapered fork either. That slack doesn’t look tapered but if you send them a message they will set you right.

If I could ride Hamsterley trails as fast as that guy on my 29er I’d be chuffed. Somehow don’t think buying a Solaris will make me any better! Still enjoyed the video, I’m off to practise/crash lots…..

Well 29ers have been around for… What over five or six years now so obviously it’s time to add something else to annoy us or think about. The mountain bike wouldn’t be where it is today without innovation (road bikes change very little) but some of things done over the years have thankfully been scrapped. We will no doubt be laughing at these tiresome arguments ten years from now when instead we’ll be discussing new bottom bracket/hub width or whatever other standards we must endure for ‘progress’ .

Actually if you’ve not entered now it’ll be £25 plus the entry fee to get into Dalby Forest…and if you are not very good you’ll end racing a lap less so probably not even two hours. Still the events and courses are good just too long away from me.

Wow £1.75 for that MBUK…. If only that had stayed the same!

Get silver and then do what I did and get the frame and forks painted 🙂

They all get a bit repetitive after a while and so I rarely buy now. Tend to flick through to see what new stuff is out. I miss MTB – Pro 🙁

Not the same size but I went from a 16″ kinesis Maxlight to 16″ scandal 29er and found the fit fine. You’ll probably need a shorter stem like I did (20mm shorter). The saddle to bar height has changed a bit with saddle no longer as high above the bars. It’s a great bike to go for and I’ve not missed my kinesis since owning the on-one.

I use a exposure maxx D which plenty enough light and its 10 hour mid setting mode will see you through the night doing solo. Would recommend a exposure joystick on your helmet for the twisty singletrack.

If you are using a tensioner yes if a chain tug no.

With finance though don’t you end up paying full value of the bike or worse over the value of it from interest. I got a £900 road bike but ended up just under £600 for it on cycle to work scheme. And that’s after the final percentage fee. No hassle doing it either.

Tensioners gone now so looks better IMO

This is my do it all bike mtb…..or that should be only bike mtb. Chain tensioner has now gone as I’ve changed the drop outs. Love it.

Mine came with quite a few scrapes and small scratches but nothing as big or obvious as yours. That said I didn’t mind as I planned to paint mine anyway. Great frames by the way 🙂

By all accounts my bike and colour choice is very antithesism to the too long in the tooth ‘stealth’ look. Perhaps it’s my midlife crisis bike?

I shouldn’t plug my own blog as being ‘Good’ but it’s out there for people to read.

Are flows that much different to crests other than rim width because my racing Ralphs went on and off no problem. It’s only tight if you don’t pop it off the bead of the rim all the way around before trying to take it off.

Do a dry run first. I pumped up my tyres and left them. Their advice is use an inner tube and inflate. The point of doing this in both cases is to ensure the yellow tape is seated right. So be patient at this stage. If your tyres are tubeless then yes all you’ll need yellow tapes then valves then sealant. If not you may need the rubber rim strip but you may not.

I’ve been sold the Surly one is good. Or at least I hope so as that’s what I’ve just ordered for my Scandal. At least I’ll have something to open my beer with if not. Tool free chain tension too.

I’d only think it an issue if you have bottle cage bolts on the seat tube.

The teeth they are using on the front chain ring are deeper so apparently there no need for a chain device.

Fizik Gobi gave no problems during 24hour solo race. No saddles sores from it. Now trying a Charge spoon and think it just as good.

I could probably spend an age telling you what to do and not do but riding more does sum it up. Work on what you weak at and set yourself measurable targets. For example if climbing is a weakness then find a long one over 5 mins and climb it regularly and see if you can improve your time at a set heart rate or power. What I will say is SIT down. Climb in the saddle. You need to build hip strength as its what you use most when you ride.

Of course it still doesn’t have to be steel…..Scandal rides very well too.

Hang you needed to have ordered these by 10th December? Orders will be sent January to February. Too late!

Not got much love for the brown and yellow combination but it gets its ‘hot’ marks for being singlespeed.

Nobby Nics and Racing Ralphs on mine. Come on and off with no real issues, just a one tyre lever needed to get them off. Just make sure you unseat the tyre bead ALL the way around from the rim or it’ll be stupid tight.

Same here! New bike out, got to my local woods hit deep slush and slid to a not very pretty halt. So not really sure how my 29er is yet but when this snow has done one I’ll be trying again. I’m getting a bit impatient!!

Still haven’t has chance to ride it off road yet. Tried and ground to a halt in the deep slush.
