I used to go to a class (also done by a roadie) who would get quite descriptive with scene setting etc – bit cheesy but helps.

e.g. we’re all cycling down a hilly road by the beach, sun’s shining and we’re racing blah, blah, blah..you can see the other team ahead and we’re all going to work together and reel them in etc

If done right and you get everyone onboard worked well and gave it a bit more of a team feel rather than everyone working as individuals…

    Just my thoughts anyway!

TT/Tri bikes lot faster on flat roads/rolling hills but handling not as good due to steep angles so if doing very technical road rides not the best.

Having done a couple of IM tri’s would say it depends. If you are mainly going to do shorter events and one IM get a road bike. If you want to do loads of mid/long distance tri’s a time trial setup is more comfortable and quicker over long distances when hammering solo as most races are non draft.

Or as mentioned above get a cervelo with the rotatin seatpost – can then change the seat angle.

Fast descents on a steep angle tri bike are interesting….

    Little and ring fingers?

Cubital tunnel syndrome would cover it…

Would second renting a car – cheap and easy to get around the island.

The races in Grand Baie is worth an afternoon out – usually on a sat afternoon if it’s on. The botanical gardens (really) are worth a look (in Pamplemousse) for an hour or two and seem to remember there are frequent guided tours that are cheap as chips. (there’s also a fantastic austrian cafe around the corner – or there was)

Can highly recommend yemaya adventures – run by a guy called patrick. He’s an mtber and will happily take you out for half/full day guided rides and also does kayak day trips and guided hikes We went kayaking for a day which was excellent and also walked up ‘Le Pouce’ which is one of the mountains that form the bowl around Port Louis – fantastic views and well worth the walk. The walk is described in the lonely planet guid i think but it is a far from obvious route initially!!
