Shameless plug but two good friends from perth days run kalamunda cycles in the hills.

Well worth dropping in if ever you’re that way and in need of anything – Tim is a very good mtber and Jo can hold her own too…

Just got rid of a full sus and got a Solaris with the build you describe.

No regrets at all. On most stuff doesn’t seem much (if any) slower down and faster up. Also means mixed road and offroad rides from the door seem a lot more fun.

If you pass through south yorks feel free to have a ride…!

Solaris is a great long distance mile muncher and fast. Went from a fuel ex and solaris seems just as fast if not faster…

As per all the others if infection under nail then needs draining – hot paper clip and make a hole in the nail. If you don’t want to do it yourself go to minor injuries or a/e.

    Needs draining though

Got 2 x 10 XT on my solaris – so far it is bloody fantastic. Very positive shifting with definite clunk – if you lie that kind of thing.

Very impressed with the xt discs too.

Replacing a 10 year old fuel ex so bit of a change. Love it so far – not been on a proper ride but on a quick blast very fast. Impressed.

The shifting on the 2012 XT is impressive too – very direct.

Rest peacefully. I hope wherever you have gone the singletrackworld flows forever.

May those left behind find their peace.

Some of them a bit ‘acquired taste’ but pergoretti has to be the winner…

ACL surgery is not just about ibstability. Also about managing long term risk of artgritis.

If it needs doing nhs is fine.

There are plenty of good surgeons about.

Worth having a chat with someone who does them. Like many things in orthopaedics it is not one size fits all and is based on the patient as well as the injury.

Slight hijack but Peter is there any decent roadbiking and/or easy stuff mtb wise? (mrs just had a bad wrist injury and is going to be only riding very easy stuff for few months yet…)

Actually anyone know if there is decent snorkelling anywhere in Sardinia?

    Decide on model/colour/spec etc

Once in a position to buy phone nearest four garages and speak to sales manager. Say you will go I that day/week and buy cash and ask them to call you back with best price they can do.

That technique has produced some very good prices in the past – they will try hardto get you there – easier to negotiate when you’re not there…

Jury still out on fixing clavicle fractures. Some patients and fracture patterns do well with surgery but many people are best left alone.

It is not one size fits all and you operate on patients not x-rays – i.e. the exact same injury in different people can be managed in different ways.

Best bit of advice – take your time – you have a lifetime to ride your bike and a few weeks off to let things get sorted first time round is neither here nor there. Physio wise some people need it but many get back to normal quickly with no physio whatsoever.
