Just riding along at stocksbridge ish.

Or if you’re north of town there’s a guy in thurlstone who builds at home. Think his name is Duncan. Built me a wheel which was top notch.

Yorkshire BS were doing offset mortgages with rates barely above non offset.

Depending on amount offset can be v favorable.

Fee was only 345 too which these days is a brucey bonus

Depending on how important surf is Sheffield.

Decent size city, lots going on, easy to get to Wales Scotland London manchester for hols near and far.

Great mtb and walking and you can ride out to peak off road from town. Plus you have warncliffe if you like loony dh.

Also has a great hospital when stuff goes wrong!!

Only in black but what’s not to like at that price…

Mrs has them on her bike – they are good

As a medic (not cardiology) my job is to offer an opinion to patients based on expert knowledge and experience.

The patient can choose to listen or ignore that advice as they see fit!

Thread hijack but what are good 11/24hr events to do? Solo or team. May do a couple this summer.

The wheels effectively splint/protect the frame in an evoc. You don’t need anything else – just soft cloth or kit to prevent scratches from any other stuff in the bag

18 bikes on hope have two evocs they rent out.

I eventually bought one. They are not cheap but they work well and are easy to get about too.

Chapel gate, Jacobs ladder loop in peak. Cracking ride and relatively dry. And sunny!

Hope all goes well and you get back soon.

I have now seen eight hip fractures in young cyclists who have fallen on ice.

Temp less than five and I don’t road bike now.

Clearly there are many more folk we don’t see but it is scary….

Got one for 15 quid fitted from one of the high street ‘fix your phone while you wait’ type places.

Gone from lasting a day at best to two days with even moderate use.

Worth doing. Not worth paying 55 quid!

Virgin – 15 quid a month for unlimited everything. Amazing deal….

Apologies if that sounds blund but the only worthwhile opinion is that of the person treating who has all the information…

Sorry to be boring but ask the surgeon. No two cases are ever the same.

Be patient – a lifetime with a bad arm is not worth it for short term fun – be patient and let it sort itself.

Having read the documents it seems all they will do is look for it. If it’s there that’s ok. The mot requirement is ‘not removed’ only….

Either Penistone area I.e. S36/S75 bits roubd there or Sheffield if you need to be in town.

West Sheffield best of all worlds

I am not going to give advice but as an orthopod (most!) people want to see/know about post op patients with problems.

In short this could be something it could be nothing but it is always nicer to reassure a well patient then miss a problem.

Bottom line – go see someone!

Medical training in uk is not great in some ways and nhs is getting a less satisfying place to work. I would also consider that in decision making!

Rode it Sunday in the etape. From town it’s about 16km give or take. Large parts of it are 10% plus gradients and it kicks up to 13-14% at various points.

    Good climb though.

Pro cycle hire – they are great guys and nothing is too much trouble. Great knowledge of good routes etc and think they made ride from the shop some days. It’s in puerto pollensa.

if you want high end bling rad international worth a look too – do very high end canyon bikes.

Sidney Sussex by far the best college and in the middle of town. Downing is rubbish, although did once spend a happy night there….

Joking apart Sidney has lovely gardens. Exams will be about now though and most colleges are a bit funny with visitors.

University members can wander freely around all colleges – you could try and befriend a student tour guide!

Cheers biglad – have contacted them and some others. Anyone used reach4thealps? Lots of glowing reviews it seems online.

Appreciate Morzine not as many options as Bourg but looks good and can do some mincing xc mtb too whilst there.

Quite fancying a double or triple Joux Plan to get the legs going. Anyone out there in June??

Thanks all for suggestions. Thanks metal for heads up. Got 34×25 on the best bike and 34×28 on the winter bike so hope should be ok – Peak District climbs to thank for that.

Think may give morzine a go – don’t mind repeating rides – just want lots of hills to ride up and somewhere to get good coffee and food on the chill days.

May drive down then can head elsewhere for a day if I fancy it and could then take the mtb too and ride off road – assuming there’s some good wheels on the ground all day epics? Like riding up just as much as down these days – not really a lift/dh type

Had my eye on Joux Plan to samoens and then back over from the other side.

Lap of lake Geneva sounds a good (if long) flat ride too.

Thanks Stu/jambalaya. I think the Morzine sportive is on June 23 so may try and tie in with that and ride it.

Ideally was thinking of staying in one place just then it’s simpler but open to suggestions.

have ridden in Majorca previously but no organised trips in June and ten days of dinner for one every night might get a bid tedious!

Not that uncommon an injury – we see a few in men of a certain age who are still active! They take a fair old while to recover whether you operate or not – main aim of surgery is to reduce the re-rupture rate.

The main thing with an achilles rupture is don’t rush the recovery – takes a while and just be patient – and get some good dvd’s/books!

Lex’s has bit the dust. A decent ish loop is silkstone – travellers inn (via bridleway) – ox spring via old wagon way – transpennine – thurlstone (over ford) – Roy’s moor via bridleway – Ingbirchworth – scout dyke – gunthwaite – Cawthorne – silkstone.

Mosf of that can be linked offroad. It’s not that techy but its nice riding.

Ingbirchworth. Always up for a ride.

Great day and great support from the locals. Had a steady ride as we were pacing the wife/gf round and acting as too large wind blockers. They had a great time which was the main aim.

Can highly recommend fortingall hotel too – looked after us very, very well although not a cheap weekend!

GP4000s are a good compromise between fast rolling, grip and wear.

Schwalbe ultremo v fast and v grippy but cut up easily on bad surfaces and are far from hard wearing.
