Mad as a box of frogs – saw her at Hammersmith Apollo in November, fantastic act, Tom Jones was two rows behind us having a ball to! And her backing singers have some energy!!!!!

Up until now – about 10 year,s the only MTB I’ve had has been a Scott Scale 30 in carbon its been ace for almost everything EXCEPT ragging round trail centres. However, I’m getting older and more fragile and have acquired a Specialized Enduro FSR from a mate. Its a revelation in many ways, it still climbs well, has plenty of traction in our filthy muddy trails and descends as if its on rails – I’m hooked, but I wont give up the Scott for long trips, hard trails and XC racing. Get one, you wont regret it (both on 26″ wheels btw)

Thanks to all. It looks like theres an issue with the way the HTC images are formatted. Its either iCloud or Flickr by the looks of it. I want hem on the iPad so Mrs Jerseychaz can access them without reference to Tech Support everytime!!!!!

Try P F Jones for the bar, electrics and fitting guide. Did my Freelander 2 in about an hour plus half an hour to put all the interior plastic back! The earth terminal was well hidden! A second pair of hands is useful as the bar can be heavy – DAMHIK!

We’ve done it! If you take out the exceptional, one off purchases from capital, we are spending somewhere just shy of £2k per month and thats not going beserk – we dont eat out (diet reasons), smoke, or drink in pubs (much). Everything is paid for – no debt, but, I’ve just gone back to work 30 hours a week to ensure that we can maintain the lifestyle, sub the kids as required and not have to worry.

If its less than clement weatherwise, there’s a good Motor Museum in the South of the City. Has free WiFi :-)

Just be careful with PC Decrapifier – its got some freeloading garbage bundled up with it that is a pain to remove – v9 for examble!

Most likely to be the flow switch on the pump. Ive had the same with an airlock in the flexible connector between the pump and the house plumbing.

Where are you? I’ve used a guy based in Hayling Island – about £125 to pick up in Derby and deliver to Southampton – proper job, not just a van!

The Post Office Travel Money Card is good. No transaction fees when you use it in a shop etc and a flat 3 euro per cash withdrawal at ATM’s. You can link a bank account and top up online when you are away.

I’ve got McAfee running on an PC with XP Pro – not too bad. I’d change it for W7 but there are some legacy applications that aren’t compatible :(

Camping Municipal in Epernay is ok. Its 5 minutes by bike into the Centre along the river and cycle paths.

I spent 6 months trying to motivate myself to train on the road for a London to Paris in 24 hours Charity ride – hated almost every minute I spent on the bike except, weirdly a 13 mile hilly TT and the ride to the start and back home! I’ve been back from the ride for 3 weeks, ridden the MTB twice and really enjoyed it – what Hora says above seems to be true! Try something different. On the plus side, the fitness seems to have carried over :D

BP Cheers for that. I’ll call him tomorrow. I’m flexible with work so can probably optimise the weather windows. As I’m not far from Cowes happy to offer lifts if I go for it and it suits you.

Biscuit Powered – I’m on the IoW and following a brilliant tandem experience in Switzerland been thinking seriously about getting in to Paragliding – main arguments against are the number of flyable days/hours in a day and the attendant waiting… are you using the guys at Butterfly?

If she’s named on the bill, the council could go after her if you default! Can’t think why she’s so keen.

The West Coast and parishes are probably the nicest (but I’m biased). From a riding perspective, the North Coast cliff paths are good, there are some cheeky trails elsewhere. I’ve got good contacts who can sort you out with a ride if you decide to go PM me. For self catering accom, try Discovery Bay – its on St Ouens Bay and not near anything although that’s a relative term in Jersey. Car Hire is cheap enough and you wont use much fuel.

I’ve sent the form back with my “excuses” in both English & French. I’m guessing that its one of the garage staff in the bosses Merc (139kph in a 130kph limit – so <20kph over the limit)and they’ve randomly selected me to keep things sweet!

Its 45 Euro if you cough up within 46 days of the ticket! Goes up to 180 Euro after 76 days 8O

Same problem with my 305. Seems to be an issue with Windows 8

Works fine on my desktop running XP Pro!

prezet – the Quartz is a packaged pump and mixer – which can be remote from the bath/shower as the feed out to the shower is a single 15mm pipe. The controls are via a low voltage cable and rotary control. However, you need to get the infrastructure in before tiling or have access behind the wall!

Might be worth pricing up an Aqalisa Quartz – I’ve put a couple in – simple install, quiet in operation and a great shower. Good warranty support as well!

FWIW, I bought a new rear lamp cluster for my Mazda off that auction site! Heaps cheaper than Mazda UK and shipped from the USA – the bill for duty (10%) and VAT – 20% 0n the whole lot arrived about 6 weeks after the package. DHL seem to settle up with HMRC and then bill you. So, just because you haven’t been charged yet, doesn’t mean you won’t be!

As above, let the Solicitor or whoever has the original know of the change for admin but no need to alter the will unless there are significant changes to the estate he wants to reflect. Just dealt with my Mum’s Estate and she’d moved twice since she and Dad made their wills.

FWIW, McAfee and Malwarebytes aren’t particularly good bedfellows, nothing bad, but McAfee won’t install until you uninstall MBAM. Oh, and thanks to others for the tips in another post on a similar subject. Nearly sorted :-)

I use a length of stainless wire rope as used for yacht rigging with an eye swaged in each end and covered in old road bike inner tube. Its a bugger to cut unless you have a big pair of croppers, not impenetrable but it will delay scrotes!

On our second fix with them. As others have said, cheap as chips and dead straightforward to deal with. Whats not to like?

For culture, go to La Sagrada, the Gaudi cathedral. The exterior is good but the interior is (in my opinion, mind blowing :-)) There’s a couple of bus tours with commentary that are good and take you to all the sights. If you have time go up to Montjuich park. Can’t comment on the night time as we were on a cruise and left at 7.30pm – the Spanish don’t go out before 10.00pm! Take the usual precautions and enjoy.

Don’t get me started – what is it about spatial awareness or the lack of it possessed by a certain genre of women? Out for a quiet ride, approaching a junction and this t~*t decides to pass me and then pull in to turn left causing me to brake sharply – it’s a junction with good visibility to the right and uphill so I usually keep my speed on until the last minute. Then she sits there waiting for the imaginary traffic to pass before pulling out…..then there’s the one who sits right on my wheel missing a whole load of passing opportunities before proceeding at my speed +1mph in to oncoming traffic FFS. I’ve taken to riding in the middle of the lane to spite them all!

What coatesy said! Dismantle, clean thoroughly, grease, reassemble, joy! The spring that holds the mech against the chain will try and fly off so cover the whole lot with a rag when you dismantle (DAMHIK)there’s a plastic bush/washer you’ll need to retain and clean in there as well.

Just picked up a GS spec, 94k on an 08 plate. Compared to our previous drives its lovely, I had an early Freelander1 which I flogged for about 50k when they first came out with no issues. The only downsides I can see are the VED at £260 and the indifferent main dealer service, I’ll be using my neighbour for that :-) Oh and 4 General Grabbers came to £450 fitted at trade!

+1 for Portugal. We’ve been lookng at 1/2 bedroom villas in the Algarve through Owners Direct, seem to be quite a few at the £300/week mark with flights by Norwegian from Gatwick starting at around £29 each way in March (more expensive half erm week though :?

Did a 12 day cruise on he Queen Victoria down to Spain last month. Mainly went because Mrs Jerseychaz’s daughter was dancing in the shows :D hoght I’d hate it but: apart from a couple of sea days down to Cadiz we had a port virtually every day, you choose your company and don’t have to be herded around, the shows were very good (I’m biased)service impeccable, drinks expensive as are most of the add ons but, £50/night for bed, breakfast, lunch, dinner and transport has to be a bargain and that was in a balcony stateroom and wasn’t crew price. Oh and did I say we had perfect weather :D

Thanks for the replies. I can happily let the laptop tick away overnight – currently showing 3 days 10 hours to complete the upload! I daren’t even begin to imagine how long it is going to take to upload from the office PC – a data cull may be in order first.

Feel for you. We got back from 12 days away on Wednesday to find our Sealpoint, Skye in a poor way. Took him to the vets on Thursday night, the vets long face said it all so we put him to sleep :( Worst thing was having to tell our neighbour who had been looking after him while we were away.

Ours is underpinned and I took a view when we bought, but I didn’t need a mortgage so we didn’t insure for subsidence! Having said that we’ve now got cover through Adrian Flux who were very helpful – £2k excess. I did have to get a structural engineers report and all the calcs and supervision notes from the engineer who did the job!

Please read the post. We only have two suppliers who cover our area, so it’s pretty irrelevant what price you can get, as I can’t get it. I’m sure this is exactly the same across the country, to varying degrees.

    Isle of Wight perchance?
