If done properly it can be permanent – You obviously did it wrong.

If you go for one rated for use on the road (long sleeve double stripe etc) I can’t think how the extra money will make you more visible.

I’ve eventually borrowed a calliper and measured the inside diameter of the seat tube (I managed to lose the original seat post so can’t use that / get the size from it :( ) and it appears to be 28mm. Does anyone know where I can get a 28mm post or am I better off getting a 27.2mm and a shim?

That looks like it will hold enough wood for about half an evening

We only tend to use the fire at the weekends and so don’t get through that much wood. At the moment I’m using an old draw, which is about the same size (but looks sh*tty) and it holds enough wood for about half a day as we burn half wood / half coal.

Thanks everyone, I think we might just have to go for the Ikea bag/supermarket box to bring the wood in and something to stack it on next to the fire (I’m a bit weird and don’t like wood stacked straight on the hearth :( )

Part of me is quite surprised that there haven’t been (to my knowledge) any instances of cyclists being sued by drivers (for damages or trauma caused etc) following an accident caused by a cyclist running a red light (and I’m not saying it should happen).

Couldn't do it before today as only got the official offer / contract yesterday. I want to try and start on the 16th as I've got too weeks holiday (the first two weeks of Sept) and could get 2 weeks work in before then (get the induction etc over with), rather than making them wait 8 weeks.

Now that I've written the letter I was hoping to sit down with my boss today (as I need to give 1 months notice it would mean I can finish on Fri 13th August and start new job on the 16th), but my boss is working from home today. Should I call him today and give him the letter tommorow or just wait till tommorrow and hope he's feeling generous and lets me off with just under the months notice?
