Cheers wwaswas, I’ll take it easy for a bit and see how it goes (the cleat was well worn and overdue being changed anyway).

Other than the obvious (spending time with my wife, kids and dog etc), riding my bike makes me deep down happy too!

For those of you who’ve had it done recently by the NHS, how long did you wait from first seeing your GP to having the op?

I’m looking to get it done, but don’t want to miss a week or two cycling in the summer so want to do it next Nov-Feb!

I get this too  Wine is even worse and I can just about get away with Cider and spirits. I presumed it some sort of IBS (based on nothing more than Google!) and just don’t drink much anymore (which makes life easier with a 3yr old and 6month old)!

I’ve been using SKS Raceblades[/url] on my my winter bike (Cannondale Synapse) for a couple of years and they are by far the easiest mudguards I’ve ever fitted. They aren’t as long as some, but do a reasonable job of keeping me clean-ish!

Did think of this but not sure sticking an address of Podge, terminal 2, Brussles Airport, Flight MAN123ABC, 21:30 on Tuesday would work. Is there likely to be a DPD (or similar) collection point there?

Could you get it delivered to your last nights accommodation or is that too far away from the airport?

I checked the sleazyjet rules on CO2 last year and so carried 2 canisters in my hand baggage (I thought it would be easier than someone opening up the bike box), I was stopped at security, but just showed them the printout of the rules and was sent on my way :-)

    Thanks All,

Are these to be all round year round wheels?

No, they’ll just be used in summer(ish)

You can’t be bothered to spend 2 seconds adding a drop of cold water before adding the hot?

To do it properly I’d have to go to the shop and buy more instant coffee then make 2cups of coffee, one with a drop of cold water and one without and then compare the two!

By road use do you mean cycling on the road or driving a car?

Sorry, I mean cycling on the road!

Oh no, how do I break the news of my ice-cream eating homosexual lifestyle to my wife and family?!

Transitions aren’t really fast enough for some of the sudden light changes around here. At speed in to wooded “tunnel” roads can get dark, fast.

I’ve been using some cheap Decathlon transitions for a couple of years and haven’t found the move from light to shade too much of an issues (I could just get some new decathlon ones, but fancy something a little posher!)

Maybe so, but can you be sure they’re not going to chance it?

Yep, my wife won’t chance it (that would be fraud, same as not declaring to insurance co!) and it was clearly the other woman’s fault so no worry for us there!

What happens if you realise in a fortnight that she has whiplash injuries?

It was a very, very minor bump!

I predict not going through the insurance will come back and bite you at some point.

Go on then, what does your crystal ball say will go wrong?

Park at my house and get a Taxi to the airport*

That’s a lovely offer, but the flight is at silly o’clock in the morning, were not taking the kids car seats on the flight so won’t have them for a taxi and mrs E fails the nutter weirdo test!

Cheers Rockape, I’ll call the garage and get it as a firm price and then get a cheque from the lady which I’ll cash before booking the car in for repair.

At college we had ‘Womble’ because he apparently lost a testicle in a skiing accident and ‘Quim’ because he was a bit of a C

As above, I was chatting to one of the guys in my LBS at the weekend and he has just bought a Garmin from Amazon for less than they could get it at trade from the distributor (Amazon must buy direct from Garmin and so not pay the distributors cut while making very little profit)!

In regards to the paranoia on display I find it quite worrying that Americans often refer to ‘bad guys’ like they are living in a comic book. I’ve even seen interviews with police officers where they talk about ‘catching bad guys’. It sounds to me like the ‘bad guy’ is some sort of bogeyman that everyone should be afraid of!

I live in Witney and the Lib Dem’s have obviously spent a lot of time and money on this one, we’ve had piles of letters and flyers through the door in the last couple of weeks and more than half of it has been Lid Dem!

Our local supermarket has a section of parent and child spaces tucked around the side of the shop, down a dead-end section of road, because it’s fairly narrow and a dead-end there’s a hatched box at the end (next to a space) that can be used to turn around if you drive down and there are no spaces left (otherwise you have to reverse back out, across a zebra crossing and onto the main route around the carpark while trying to avoid morons with trolleys). The selfish ****’s that park in that box really piss me off* (even if there’s a space and I don’t need to turn around at the end)!

*this is made worse by the fact that I cannot do anything like poo on their windscreen because I’m meant to be an adult and set a good example for my children

Cheers all, has anyone used points for part payment? Is this limited to a small number of seats on certain flights or can it be used more freely?

you have to move your head (turn it) at the same speed, then the sign stays in your view

I’m already weird enough without being the nutter trying to give himself whiplash on a busy commuter train!
