I would say that your problem is with idiots then, not H & S

All problems tend to boil down to idiots!

My main issue with H&S are the idiots who don’t understand what they are doing but make ‘rules’ regardless, or the rules that are created for good reason, but not communicated properly.

I personally hate the over reliance on PPE (which should be the last line of defense and not the first). I work in construction on the Gas and Electricity transmission network where H&S rules are undoubtedly saving lives although there are some idiot managers who are banning things for fun!

Back to the original post my employer also identified that driving is the most dangerous part of our working day and so everyone with a company car spends a couple of hours with an ex-police driving instructor who gives some quite useful tips and a half day on a racetrack / skid pan learning how to control the car properly and safely -if nothing else it’s great fun!

Personally I find Worcestershire one of the friendliest places in the world

Really? I was born in Evesham and we had a ‘culture shock’ when we moved to Lancashire as the people were so much friendlier. I still find Evesham and it’s people a bit odd whenever I go back to see my Grandma!

and once this water all washes away the problems caused by prolonged dry weather will still be there…..

OK, but where is all the water going to wash away to? Surely it washes into the rivers, lakes and reservoirs which we then extract drinking water from?

There are now Flood warnings in the Southwest. There are currently 3 flood warnings, 19 flood alerts and a hosepipe ban! 🙄

It’s a bit of a cop-out that the arms of the glasses stop at his hair line and don’t go all the way around his ears, he’d only need to shave a small strip of hair to maintain ‘the look’. 🙄

Matt Baker and Ellie Harrison head to the South Pennines, where old rivals Yorkshire and Lancashire collide. It is also home to the Pennine Way, which runs through the backbone of England. Ellie takes in part of the Pennine Way with local poet Simon Armitage. Meanwhile, Matt uses two wheels for some extreme mountain biking.

My moneys on Lee Quarry as it’s very close to the Pennine Way and the Lancashire/Yorkshire border!

No I think I’m a tool and I’m getting really annoyed by my own company at the moment.

What do they actually hope to achieve by disrupting Henley? Do they really think that the rich will see a couple of boat races disrupted and suddenly give all of their wealth to the poor?

This seems like a really bad idea as it’s cheapening the real message about the huge divide between poor and rich 🙄

So wing collars are out now then – or maybe they were never in!!! It’s been a while.

I always thought that wing collars are for white tie only.

Good points well made, I’ll get back under my rock. I think I just spent too much time thinking about it while in the gym this morning (the advert was on between every song -or at least felt like it!) 😳

Sorry, I’ve just realised that the above makes me look like a proper tool, so in order to try and back-track / worm my way out of it I’d like to state that I think the events are great as they do get alot of women who wouldn’t normally run out running in a friendly and non-competitive environment, but just find the choice of words slightly odd!

The irritation is nothing to do with the charity / event but more to do with the language used in the adverts.

Thanks both, I’ve already looked at the dogs trust list, but I’m having trouble identifying what plants we’ve got so I don’t know if they are on the list! Does anyone know of a a list (like the dogs trust one), but with pics?

Thanks all. As I understand it, I can register the Kindle to my account and upload books, then un-register the Kindle and the books will still be on it. The only down side is that if the books are deleted then My wife won’t have them on her account, although the books will still be on my account so if this happens it won’t be the end of the world (besides I can’t see why she’d need to delete any books as I can’t see her wanting to store 14,000 books -or however many it REALLY holds!).

There’s a comprehensive Kindle FAQ on the site, did you look there?

I did look, but couldn’t see the answer so got frustrated and resorted to STW!
