I’m 6’5″ and have just replaced my Large Santa Cruz Bullit (which wasn’t a DH bike and was a little small for me -but is for sale!) with a Large 2010 Giant Glory which seems to fit well (I’ll be able to report back on Friday evening after my first uplift with it). I looked at several options, but decided to go with the Glory because although it’s only a Large it’s still pretty long. If I could justify the money I’d go for either an XL Santa Cruz V10 (still quite expensive second hand) or XL Trek Session (I’ve not seen any second hand).

Yes and No! I think it all depends on design and where you get it from!

Cheers rwamartin, I had a look and all looked OK and then realised the stupid bloody mistake I’d made and now I’ve re-changed all the bulbs to (10W instead of 25W) it works fine again 😳

I live about 20 mins west of Oxford and have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the city, on one hand it’s great (good pubs, pretty architecture, a reasonable amount of work, a good night out, a fair amount of comedy at the comedy club or theater, in the middle of the country so getting anywhere else isn’t too hard and surrounded by lovely countryside), but on the other hand its a bloody nightmare (full of students, tourists and people with their heads stuck up their own bottoms, very expensive, a nightmare to drive to, through and around and not much mountainbiking other than XC).

Id have thought ebay end auction prices would be fair.

I agree that the prices are probably fair, but I’m after something really cheap (which is probably too cheap for a lot of people to bother putting on ebay)!

Loved that one where they’re stuck on a ferris wheel and halfway through the episode Eddie pulls out a full pint of ale from his coat.

From the title I was hoping for something more like this (but posh):

A teacher I know who currently works in a public/fee paying school claims that the quality of teaching is the same as most state schools, but the differences are that there are far less nuisance pupils, classes are smaller, the children are there longer (not just 9-3) and the children who struggle academically either can’t get in (entrance exams) or are kicked-out/asked to leave!

muddyground, I’m intrigued by your t-shirts, but as your website is fubar’d I can’t see any, is there anywhere else that I can see some of your designs?

I can’t really enjoy that without knowing whether the rider was OK

    Sorry, but he was eaten:

Most of the cabins (site welfare), signage, segregated access (keeping vehicles and pedestrians separate) and fencing/hoarding is there in order to comply to current UK/European law and nothing to do with ‘jobs for the boys’.

EDIT: all of what you describe is much cheaper than an incident involving major injury/death!!

I’m not sure drainage would help in the long run as it’s a bog at the moment, but the large trees take all the water out in the summer! I like the idea of moss or heather, can anyone suggest where I can get more information/advice? Thanks

I’m only 30 so seriously doubt I’ll ever retire, enjoy it while it’s still an option 🙁

Edit, but if I could retire I’d ‘bang’ grannies!!

wwaswas that’s the level of ‘dadness’ I aspire too, the only thing that could have made that better would have been if he was holding a beer instead of the second child!

Select Hold Items, then there’s a drop down menu and bikes are listed (with the price). When you book with Sleazyjet all you get is a seat and hand baggage, you have no automatic hold baggage allowance (this needs to be added in the hold items section too if required).

Sounds like you’re fixed on the idea

No I’ve not, which is the problem. I was hoping to find someone who’d actually done what I’m suggesting in this thread who either says ‘it worked a treat’ or ‘it was a complete nightmare’ which would have helped make my mind up!

I’m starting to agree cbmotorsport 🙄

Did the OP mention a budget?

No I didn’t, but that was going to be my next question, how much do I realistically need to spend in order to get a van that will do the 2000 miles without breaking down (I appreciate that any van could breakdown, but how much to reduce the odds)? Also wheres the best place to buy and does anyone have any tips for reducing the depreciation over a couple of weeks? Ta

We did it in a Mondeo estate.

Unfortunately the 3series is our largest car and quite a bit smaller than a Mondeo, it’s a company car so I’m the only one insured to drive it and the back wouldn’t be very comfortable 🙁

Can easily do 4 people and 4 bikes in a decent sized car

What do you class as a decent sized car?

There are 4 of us (3 are over 6″) and we decided that my 3series estate wasn’t big enough for 4 +4 bikes and the cost of getting tow bar plus bike carrier was too high compared with just taking a second car!

This is actually a serious suggestion (sorry), but how about making something like these (obviously without the barbed wire and pointy ends)? You can make them as long or short as you like so fairly easy to move and as long as you make the bases fairly wide they’ll not fall over!

Has this whole tread been concocted as a cunning way to shoe-horn in the advert at the end on neilsonwheels’ video?!

I’m currently on a high dose of antihistamines for a skin problem (it’s basically an all over nettle rash), but the plus side is that the antihistamines make me immune to stingy nettles 🙂

Banter is something blokes do, sorry if it offends you southern princess types

As said above I have no problem with actual banter*, it’s just the twunts who talk about ‘top banter’ and who use it as an excuse for being a cock that boils my wee!

*Banter: the playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks.

Andy R, Where are you staying and are you riding on your own or with a guide? I noticed an advert for mountainbiking (I think as it was all in Greek) in Kardamili a few years ago and have fancied it ever since!
