At £15 I’d feel a little bad for the poor sod that lost it, but that would soon pass as I cashed it in at the shop. If it was £15k it would be a different matter (because it would have to go through winalot rather than a shop)!

Am I not allowed to comment?

Comment if you must, but your comments are nearly as predictable as a top gear race! I presume your meant to be working so go and do something useful instead of bitching on here!

Surely you of all people should be able to recognise the joy top gear brings to those of a limited intellect 🙄

FFS RS, stop watching it or stop bitching, it’s a simple choice!!

Also Top Gear makes the BBC more in selling to other countries and merchandise than it costs to make, so yes it is worth the licence fee as it helps to fund other BBC stuff like Radio 6 Music and other stuff which you may or may-not like!!

Who are they and what clubs did they play for?

EDIT: +1 for offering them to clubs they’ve played for.

I drive a red BMW and when I was given the car (company car) the BMW man who showed me how all the controls worked explained about the special BMW competition to get as close to bikes as possible (without touching them), thankfully I’ve got a 3″ handicap for choosing red and an extra 1.5″ for it being an estate although I loose 2″ if I wear a baseball cap or beanie while driving and 1.5″ if I have a suit jacket or shirt on a hanger in the back!!

The first time we did it we weren’t sure where we were going, but there were plenty of other people about who knew where to go and were nice enough to let us follow then/ point us in the right direction 🙂

A little climb, or push, wakes you up..

..but if that fails blasting down the road from Avoriaz to Morzine certainly wakes you up (and tightens the sphincter a little)!!

I’m not sure how long it takes as we had a bit of a play on the trails in the Les Lindarets Valley on the way and the way back, I can’t remember when the lifts close, but they have pretty big signs telling you. We tend to get out fairly early so are usually finished and in the bar before the lifts close, but we’ve seen a few people who’ve staggered into a bar quite late having missed the last lift and pushed back up the hill from Chatel!!

When you going, we’ll be there between the 12th and 21st July, it’ll be my 3rd time and I can hardly bloody wait 🙂

Yep, have a look at the Summer Lift Maps HERE

All you have to do is take the Super Morzine lifts to the top and then ride along the ridge towards Avoriaz and turn left into the valley (Les Lindarets) and get the Chaux Fleurie lift up the other side of the valley and your at the top of the Chatel bike park. We’ve done it and the only thing I would say is make sure you give yourself enough time to get to the top of the Lindarets lift before it closes for the night as it’ll take you hours to get back if your too late!!

I’ve used them quite a bit recently and not been disappointed, they are one of the cheapest places I could find for Hope stuff and as such I didn’t mind waiting a few days longer (for stuff to come into stock) and their communication (with predicted dates etc) was pretty good too.

This is great, I’m gonna set-up an account and follow some mates (without them knowing it’s me) and give them kudos for everything and then laugh as it creeps them out and they get stressy about it!!

Thanks all, I think I’ll go for a turbo (as it’ll save a few quid, wont take up more room in the garage and my arse only has to get used to one saddle!!). I’ve got a spare back wheel and semi slick tyre so don’t have to keep swapping tyres!

Can anyone suggest a decent (mid range) turbo trainer then? Thanks.

If it were me I’d just try to beat him to it, so every time he thinks about getting the saw out there is no need as you’ve already cut and split the wood for him! It’s much easier to ‘do him a favour’ and cut the wood than try to be underhand and possibly upset him. If he asks why your doing it just say that you enjoy it, the fresh air does you good, the noise drown out the wife etc etc!!

I’m the same height as you and for winter mtb rides I got some leg warmers instead of tights as I can wear them slightly lower than they should be (they still overlap my shorts enough to stay up and cover all of my leg), but they reach all the way down to my ankle!!

I appreciate all the points that I should just get out on my bike, but the local trails aren’t that good at the best of times and I don’t like riding on the road (especially in the dark). I want to be able to nip out to the garage for 30mins of interval training (and spend all that time exercising rather than faffing with a filthy bike etc) before breakfast and then get on with my day. I’m primarily looking to improve my fitness so not too worried that it’s not a real bike!! Thanks for all the useful posts.

Yep and because I’m a bit thick I’m enjoying it (although my attention does tend to wander during star in the car, hence posting this)!!

….but on second thoughts (and having looked on google) I think I may be wrong, I’ll look into turbo trainers too!

Any reason not to get a turbo trainer and a couple ot DVDs?

I don’t currently have a bike that would be suitable to use on a turbo trainer.

footflaps, Any idea where she got it from?

You could always go to the gym and spin without an instructor?

My gym membership has lapsed and I’d rather spend the money up front and be able to exercise in the privacy of my own home and at a time that suits me.

In short, I think it’s still well worth the effort in the wet, but dress appropriately!

It was dry yesterday and this morning and I was really surprised how dry the trails were on the first couple of runs. There were quite a few puddles, but the trails themselves were all running pretty well. The morning started dry, but the rain set in just before lunch and it was lashing down when we went back out after a rather nice pie in the cafe. Due to the heavy rain this afternoon there was water running down/across a few of the trails, but the ground below that was still pretty firm and was actually faster (probably because the mud was less sticky).

The stoned track from the start ramp to the start of Corkscrew and GBU was running really well, Corkscrew was muddy in places, but flowing nicely and really fun, the top section of GBU was a bit heavy going, but it was running well from the first fire road, Endo was really sketchy and I’m not sure how I got down it, but it was still good fun and got the adrenalin pumping! The top of Ski Run was a bit of a slog (as always), but the rest of it was running nicely and I didn’t ride Sheepskull as it was raced on last week and a few others said it was pretty cut-up (I rode the top section down to the start of Ski Run and it was very muddy and cut-up). The only area which was particularly difficult was the flat section where all the trails end and cut back to the uplift, but that wasn’t really an issue.

I’ve got a 661 comp pressure suit, but at 6’5″ I find it a little short in the body and so spend far too much time pulling it down and faffing with the kidney belt, so will be replacing it with an evo pressure suit, which doesn’t have the kidney belt to faff with!

When I booked the weather forecast said Friday would be dry, but the latest is pretty much heavy rain all day 🙁 I’ll be able to give my opinion on weather its worth it in the rain on Friday night 😐

I’m booked on for Friday, I wasn’t sure, but after watching some of the recent videos the main trails look OK and so though I’d take the risk (Bikepark Wales was fully booked and I find the uplift at CwmCarn too long for doing on my own)!
