I’d recommend Apple TV. You can rent movies with your iTunes account or send wirelessly from your iPad or iPhone.
Apple TV also has YouTube and Vimeo access. Or you can send Youtube direct from the iPad or iPhone, wirelessly.
If you are happy to pay premium prices for this type of kit (as I do)another £99 for the little box and convenience should be ok.

Seal skins with thin wool socks inside. When it gets really cold I break out the wifes stripy leg warmers! Mmm,cosy. (There not the wifes, there mine.)

Home made Muesli, made by the wonderful Mrs Wachowchow, on which I broke a tooth this morning, and a large mug of Yorkshire tea, in a Singletrack mug naturally.

I also don’t like the Nom thing. I have a couple of friends who can’t eat with their mouth shut as it is so when they start saying Nom nom nom while they are eating as well it makes my stomach turn.

    Thanks Stu,

The headset is fine as its brand new, however the stem is 100mm long! If the Fox forks steerer is the standard 1.5″ it opens up the shorter stem options available. I think Hope do a 1.5″ option of their stems so could be bling time!

My boss has a glass mug but thats down to his own paranoia about what may end up in there.

+1 for the Singletrack mug option. Fly the flag! Just don’t put it in the dishwasher, my 2 have faded to blue only. :(

A friend of mine bought one last year and he loves the bloody pants off it. He originally bought as a relatively cheap way to get a full bike with 140mm forks, 10 speed kit etc ready for a Blur frame upgrade when funds allow. But he’s proper hooked after chopping in his 1998 Heckler his riding has really lit up. I had a little go and crashed within 10 minutes trying something bloody silly but I believe that is in the spirit of the bike. Get on it and the mischievous giggling starts almost instantly.

Thank you all for your comments. I may well go for the KS option then but get it ordered into an LBS so I can make sure it works before I leave the premises.

    Thanks Northwind.
Would you put your initial experience down to bad luck or do they have a reputation faulty assembly?
I guess the proof is in the riding so if it has been running well for a year or so that is a better testament than receiving a possible Friday afternoon build initially.

As above, KS droppers. Will they die a horrible and early death? Or will I be sitting pretty?

We have a Pure Evoke. Nice and portable for the shed. I had to buy the battery as an extra but its a rechargable and charges when the radio is plugged in the mains. Also has an AUX in for iPods N stuff.
Best sound from a little portable that I’ve heard, compared to what mates have bought.

I just dropped the big ring off and replaced it with a bash guard. Using the same rings and shifter as before. I hardly ever used the big ring anyway.

I will assume the BB in knackered which is why you are trying to remove it.

This is what I would try.

Get some WD40 or plusgas on the thread from the inside of the BB shell. Let it soak overnight. It may not be overtightened but corroded threads binding it up. The damage to the cup may be the previous owner trying to get it out before hand. Who knows?
Pop the other cup back in and nip it up, not tight.
Slide the crank back in with the chain rings on the other side. This, and the other cup will serve as a guide to ensure that the tight cup will stay square when you are flogging it.
Use a pipe wrench on the damaged cup. A pair of stilsons will grip the cup more as you apply force.

Start gently and then gradually build up to ‘get the **** out you b******’ type tapping with hammer.

Do make sure you are undoing it the right way! Right hand cup, left hand thread. Left hand cup, right hand thread.

P.S. I have not actually had to try this method and don’t want any blame if it goes wrong. If in doubt, LBS.

    Best of luck.

I run one of each on 2 bikes. No discernable difference IMO. The SRAM redwins are on special at CRC at the mo, possibly cheaper that XT as a result. I’m stocking up for the spring rebuild now!

    Hi Noodle,

I live in Alton and go out every Tuesday night with a couple of mates in the local woods. Usually get another in either at the weekends or other evening over there as well.
I would be more than happy to show you a few loops we have up there.

The local woods in Alton are small but have loads of little runs criss crossing the valley.

As above. I fell foul of that once, doh! If that isn’t the case, thread a cable in it with a bit of tension and try it like that

Lovely isn’t it. Almost every night for the last month me or my riding buddy call with ‘come on lets get out there, this could be the last dry ride before the weather settles in’. Well it hasn’t yet and we’ve been getting some good miles in as a result, dusty trails in October! Long may it continue! Although I am looking forward to trying out my new Medusa’s which have been languishing in the shed for the last month, so bring on the wet also!

Sorry to hear this Charlie, what a dick! Glad to hear the community was supportive.
I hope his ‘lurking’ doesn’t evolve into further weirdness.

    Isn’t bin’s a reference to ‘binocular’ as a source?

Book an afternoon in a decent HiFi shop with a listening room. In my experience the staff will happily set up equipment for you to listen to your favourite or selected test music through.
After straining the music through either YouTube or even the CD rom drive in your PC you will either be blown away by the difference and need hifi stuff or if you don’t notice a big difference and realise that you ears aren’t all that sensitive anyway.
I would recommend that you listen to your stuff through a proper set up first so you can really see if you are missing out or not.

The closest I could come is ‘Hoplight’:

    http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/fw-smith-hands/hoplight/bold/

But clearly it’s not actually this one.

In addition, I’m pretty sure this font has been mucked about with – the ‘c’ and ‘e’ look strangely distorted and I’m sure it’s not part of the original design. Plus I’ve got a feeling that ‘P’ might be another font entirely as the serif at the bottom and the angle of the calligraphy looks totally different to the lowercase letters.

If its a recent set up, a new chain only may be fine. I would just get the chain first. If the cassette and front ring or rings need changing as well it will soon become evident.

The Ozrics are now Eat Static. The play Endorset in Dorset festival every year. Bit more electronica than the Ozrics ever were but still nicely psycadelic and will get you dancing.

    Great day out yesterday!
Thanks Phil for getting us all together and thanks to Andy for putting together a really nice loop for us all in the slow group. There are some lovely little sections in there that I would have never found and will probably never find again.
Thanks to all for great riding company. Nice to finally put some faces to names.

Andy RT, you would be more than welcome to come to our humble little wood and sample some Alton hospitality.

That Four4th mount looks good. I was not aware of these guys, thanks. What lights are you using with it? The Exodus, being the cheapest, would be the one I would consider first as it is to only compliment the vision 4 on the bars.

I do like the ‘one each side’ suggestion, a la caving or of course Orbital.
Hat is quicker to type than helmet.

The Piko looks good, thanks. I will have a look at that.

I had a similar issue with my last change of jobs. I decided to be open with all parties. Told my manager (not the boss) that I was going but wasn’t handing in my notice until I got the official thumbs up. He appreciated the honesty and knew he had to start preparing for my departure.
All went smoothly. I thought if I tried to play games I would end up looking like a knob.

Ooh, lovely. I was watching the little trailer on their web site last night wishing I lived somewhere where the local terrain would justify me owning such a fun looking bit of kit.
I still can’t decide between Covert or Bandit.
